Abstract

The Vocational School Competency Test (UKK) is an important final stage for students, but it often causes anxiety that affects their academic and psychological readiness. High pressure to pass UKK can lead to decreased confidence and stress among students. This study aims to understand the experiences of grade XII vocational school students in dealing with anxiety ahead of UKK and to explore the role of resilience in managing this anxiety. The subjects of the study were three grade XII vocational school students from different majors who were selected based on the criteria of experiencing anxiety related to UKK and having resilience characteristics. The approach used is qualitative with a double exploration case study design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and draw and tell methods, then analyzed thematically. The results showed that students' anxiety was triggered by internal factors (e.g., self-doubt, technical unpreparedness) and external factors (parental pressure, negative stories from seniors, worries about examiners). Anxiety has a noticeable impact on students' daily activities, such as difficulty concentrating and enjoying free time. Resilience emerges as a protective factor through a variety of adaptive strategies, including practice and repetition of material, independent learning, positive affirmations, self-talk, and social support from peers and teachers. The draw and tell method effectively depicts a symbolic shift in students' emotions, from pre-exam anxiety to post-exam relief. These findings emphasize the importance of emotional support and mental guidance for vocational school students in dealing with UKK.

Abstract

Abstract

The piezoelectric efficiency of Poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membranes becomes restricted by the challenge of generating and stabilizing electroactive β-phase during processing. Stretching requires control of deformation parameter, while solvent-based methods bring environmental and occupational health risks. This research suggests hot-pressing as an alternative method for enhancing β-phase fraction, utilizing multidirectional stress without solvent or chemical exposure. This study systematically compares uniaxial hot-pressing (Uniaxial HP) and biaxial hot-pressing (Biaxial HP) setups to determine which stress distribution is more effective at promoting changes and improving piezoelectric properties in PVDF membranes. The main objective of this research is to systematically evaluate and compare the impacts of uniaxial and biaxial hot-pressing on the crystalline phase transformation and electromechanical performance, including the piezoelectric coefficient (d33) and output voltage response of PVDF membranes. PVDF pellets were hot-pressed at 220o C under a pressure of 60 MPa for 15 minutes followed by rapid quenching in ice water. X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed phase composition, correlated with performance via the piezoelectric coefficient (d33), and assessed piezoelectric activity. Experimental results show that biaxial loading provides a higher b-phase fraction (50.47%) compared to untreated membranes (47.80%) and UHP samples (49.30%). The crystallinity and the piezoelectric coefficient also increased to 49% and 18.8 pC/N, respectively. Biaxial stress pattern during hot-pressing induces favourable thermodynamic and kinetic conditions for b-phase expansion. Beyond phase-related results, the approach delivers competitive piezoelectric effectiveness while maintaining simplicity and reducing solvent-dependent processing steps.

Abstract

High exhaust gas opacity in conventional Diesel vehicles, such as the 2013 Mitsubishi L300 with its conventional injection system, remains a significant environmental challenge. This study aims to analyze the impact of blending three Diesel fuel types—Biosolar, Dexlite, and Pertamina Dex—on exhaust opacity levels. Conducted at the Motor Vehicle Testing Unit in Medan, the research employed an experimental method using a Smoke Opacity Meter to measure smoke opacity at various fuel mixture ratios. Data were subsequently analyzed using ANOVA to identify significant differences between treatments. The results demonstrate that fuel blending significantly influences opacity values. Notably, the combination of Pertamina Dex and Dexlite yielded the lowest opacity levels, achieving an average reduction of over 30% compared to pure Biosolar. This improvement is attributed to higher cetane numbers and lower sulfur content, which facilitate more complete combustion. The study concludes that fuel blending is a practical strategy for mitigating emissions in conventional Diesel engines, supporting the development of eco-friendly fuels and sustainable transportation policies in Indonesia.
