Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa AjarMi dari Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Bahasa dan Sastra, Universitas Negeri Makassar bekerja sama dengan SMK Telkom Makassar. Kegiatan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi digital guru serta keterampilan berbahasa Inggris siswa melalui serangkaian program berbasis teknologi. Program meliputi pelatihan pembuatan e-modul interaktif menggunakan Figma bagi 24 guru, pengenalan aplikasi ELSA Speak untuk latihan pelafalan dan speaking, desain poster digital menggunakan Microsoft Copilot yang diintegrasikan dalam Canva untuk 33 siswa, serta English Voice Out Competition (EVOC) untuk anggota ekstrakurikuler. Seluruh kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR). Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan kepercayaan diri dan kemampuan berbicara siswa serta kemampuan guru dalam menyusun modul ajar digital. Program ini menunjukkan pentingnya teknologi pendidikan dalam memperkuat pengalaman belajar-mengajar di sekolah kejuruan.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kreativitas dan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris siswa SMK Telkom Makassar Kelas X TKJ 2 melalui pembuatan poster digital dengan aplikasi Canva dalam konteks Proyek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5). Pendekatan yang digunakan menggabungkan penggunaan Canva dan kecerdasan buatan Microsoft Copilot untuk mendukung penyusunan teks dan pengembangan ide visual. Tahapan kegiatan mencakup observasi, persiapan, pelaksanaan proyek, dan evaluasi berbasis kuesioner dengan 26 siswa sebagai partisipan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa mengalami peningkatan dalam kemampuan menyusun informasi berbahasa Inggris secara efektif dan kreatif. Selain itu, proyek ini juga mendorong ekspresi diri, kerja sama, dan ketertarikan siswa terhadap pembelajaran berbasis teknologi digital. Data menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 90% siswa memberikan respons positif terhadap seluruh aspek kegiatan. Dengan demikian, integrasi Canva dan AI dalam kegiatan proyek mampu menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang kolaboratif, komunikatif, dan bermakna.

Abstract

In the 21st century, a paradigm shift in education is needed. This is especially true for the Independent Curriculum, which focuses on the needs of students. However, many educators still face difficulties in understanding and using new learning strategies that are appropriate for 21st century and digital era skills (4Cs: Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity). The lack of systematic and needs-based training, especially through technology integration, innovative learning methods, and authentic assessments, is a major factor. Through the application of the Training of Trainers (TOT) approach in 21st century learning design, this service program aims to increase teacher capacity. This program utilizes Microsoft-based technology to enhance the learning experience with the support of Microsoft Indonesia and Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE) Indonesia. This training includes the use of apps such as Microsoft Teams, OneNote, and PowerPoint to help teachers create a more flexible and inspiring learning environment. In order for the training to be in accordance with the needs of teachers, the Capacity Building and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) program involves stages to identify needs, training by Master Trainers, and dissemination of knowledge by participants to other teachers. The results show that this method is effective in improving teachers' skills and extending the benefits of training to more teachers. === Pada abad ke-21, perubahan paradigma dalam pendidikan diperlukan. Hal ini terutama berlaku untuk Kurikulum Merdeka yang berfokus pada kebutuhan siswa. Namun, banyak pendidik masih menghadapi kesulitan untuk memahami dan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran baru yang sesuai dengan keterampilan abad ke-21 dan era digital (4C: Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, dan Creativity). Kurangnya pelatihan yang sistematis dan berbasis kebutuhan, terutama melalui integrasi teknologi, metode pembelajaran inovatif, dan asesmen autentik, merupakan faktor utama. Melalui penerapan pendekatan Training of Trainers (TOT) dalam desain pembelajaran abad ke-21, program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas guru. Program ini memanfaatkan teknologi berbasis Microsoft untuk meningkatkan pengalaman pembelajaran dengan dukungan Microsoft Indonesia dan Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE) Indonesia. Training ini mencakup penggunaan aplikasi seperti Microsoft Teams, OneNote, dan PowerPoint untuk membantu guru membuat lingkungan belajar yang lebih fleksibel dan menginspirasi. Agar pelatihan sesuai dengan kebutuhan guru, Capacity Building dan Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) program melibatkan tahapan untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan, pelatihan oleh Master Trainer, dan penyebaran pengetahuan oleh peserta kepada guru lainnya. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa metode ini efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan guru dan memperluas manfaat pelatihan ke lebih banyak guru.

Abstract

English speaking skills are an important aspect for Vocational High School (SMK) students to be better prepared to face the challenges of the world of work. However, many students experience problems in pronunciation, fluency, and confidence when speaking. This service program aims to improve students' speaking skills by utilizing an artificial intelligence-based application, ELSA Speak. This activity was carried out at SMK Telkom Makassar with participants from the extracurricular English Meeting Club (EMC). Participatory Action Research (PAR) method was applied in this program, which includes needs analysis, planning, training implementation, and evaluation using questionnaires. Results showed that the use of ELSA Speak had a positive impact on students' pronunciation, fluency and confidence. The majority of participants felt significant improvements in speaking, and they were more comfortable and confident in using English. Thus, artificial intelligence technology can be an innovative solution in improving vocational students' speaking skills in an effective, engaging, and easy-to-implement way in the learning process.

Abstract

Education in Madrasah faces the challenge of developing learning methods that are in line with the needs of the 21st century, especially with the rapid development of technology. Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) enable deeper understanding and relevant applications to improve the quality of teaching. The purpose of this service activity is to introduce the use of AI such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot to create more efficient lesson plans, as well as interactive applications such as Canva and Heyzine to create engaging teaching materials. The methods used are workshop-based training and direct simulations. The results of the training showed a significant ability of teachers to use technology in creating lesson plans with a Deep Learning approach and utilizing AI in preparing lesson plans as well as using Canva and Heyzine technology in interactive teaching materials.

Abstract

This community service program focused on training vocational school teachers in developing interactive digital modules based on mobile learning. It was conducted at SMK Handayani Gowata, Gowa Regency, in response to the limited use of digital media in vocational learning and teachers’ difficulties in creating engaging and mobile-accessible materials. Fifteen teachers participated in the program, which involved conceptual presentations and hands-on practice using Canva and Heyzine platforms. The evaluation showed that participants successfully produced interactive digital modules integrated with YouTube videos and QR code-based quizzes. Most participants found the training materials relevant and easy to implement. This program not only improved teachers' digital design skills but also contributed to institutional transformation toward technology-integrated teaching.

Abstract

Speaking skills, particularly for students majoring in English, are crucial for enhancing their communication abilities in both academic and professional settings. However, many students face challenges in public speaking, such as anxiety and lack of self-confidence. To address these issues, this community service activity aims to develop students' speaking skills through the production and utilization of podcasts. The method used includes podcast introduction, public speaking simulation, and independent podcast production and publication. Evaluation results show that the use of podcasts is effective in reducing students' anxiety in public speaking, enhancing self-confidence, and helping students improve fluency, pronunciation, and structured message delivery. This activity also provides an enjoyable, applicable, and reflective learning experience, encouraging students to become more active in developing their communication skills in a context relevant to the professional world. Overall, this activity has a positive impact on students' speaking skills and provides insights into the application of digital media in communication skill development.  Keterampilan berbicara mahasiswa, terutama mahasiswa jurusan Bahasa Inggris, sangat penting dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi mereka, baik di dunia akademik maupun profesional. Namun, banyak mahasiswa yang menghadapi kendala dalam berbicara di depan umum, seperti kecemasan dan kurangnya percaya diri. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan mengembangkan keterampilan berbicara mahasiswa melalui produksi dan pemanfaatan podcast. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengenalan podcast, simulasi public speaking, dan produksi serta publikasi podcast secara mandiri. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan podcast efektif dalam mengurangi kecemasan mahasiswa dalam berbicara di depan umum, meningkatkan kepercayaan diri, serta membantu mahasiswa meningkatkan fluency, pronunciation, dan kemampuan menyusun pesan secara terstruktur. Kegiatan ini juga memberikan pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan, aplikatif, dan reflektif, serta mendorong mahasiswa untuk lebih aktif mengembangkan keterampilan komunikasi mereka dalam konteks yang relevan dengan dunia profesional. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif pada keterampilan berbicara mahasiswa, serta memberikan pandangan mengenai penerapan media digital dalam pengembangan keterampilan komunikasi.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain data regarding students' perceptions of the intensity of corrective feedback (CF) provided by lecturers and its influence on their self-confidence and self-expression abilities. To achieve the above objectives, a qualitative approach was used thru in-depth semi-structured interviews conducted with students from the English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Literature, Makassar State University, who were taking English courses thru synchronous and asynchronous media. To analyze the data obtained, this study uses thematic analysis, which includes the stages of transcription, data reduction, coding, categorization, and the extraction of thematic meaning. The results of the research data analysis show that (1) students positively perceive the intensity of corrective feedback, which includes attention, duration, and frequency, differing between one lecturer and another because synchronous CF provides space for direct interaction and quick clarification, while asynchronous CF gives students the opportunity to reflect and correct errors independently; and (2) the intensity of CF has a positive impact on increasing students' self-confidence and self-expression in English, both orally and in writing, although feedback that is too frequent and delivered inappropriately can reduce motivation and cause anxiety. The results of this study conclude that a balance of intensity and approach in providing corrective feedback has a positive impact on the optimal linguistic and psychological development of students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine knowledge on investments and minimum capital as factors influencing the investment interest of students in the D4 English Language Study Program. The research participants were active D4 English Language students in the odd semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, specifically cohorts 2023 to 2025. This study employed a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that, both partially and simultaneously, knowledge on investment and minimum capital significantly affect the investment interest of D4 English Language students. Therefore, it can be concluded that investment knowledge and minimum capital currently have an influence on D4 English Language students.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan kreativitas mahasiswa melalui pelatihan pembuatan lilin aromaterapi. Latar belakang kegiatan ini adalah semakin tingginya minat masyarakat terhadap lilin aromaterapi, baik sebagai sarana relaksasi maupun sebagai peluang usaha kreatif dengan nilai ekonomi yang menjanjikan. Pelatihan dilaksanakan selama satu hari di salah satu rumah kost peserta dengan metode ceramah, diskusi, praktik, dan presentasi hasil karya. Peserta yang terlibat adalah mahasiswa Program Business English Communication kelas A yang berjumlah lima orang. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan peserta mengenai bahan, teknik pencampuran, penambahan aroma, hingga pengemasan lilin aromaterapi. Selain itu, peserta mampu menghasilkan karya lilin aromaterapi dengan variasi aroma dan desain yang berbeda, sehingga menumbuhkan kreativitas, rasa percaya diri, serta wawasan kewirausahaan. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini berhasil menjadi sarana pemberdayaan yang tidak hanya memberikan keterampilan teknis, tetapi juga membuka peluang usaha baru bagi mahasiswa.
