Abstract

The rapid growth of buy-now, pay-later services has made it easier for students to access digital credit. However, few studies have examined how this affects financial stability, particularly among SPayLater users in Islamic economics education. This study examines how social pressure and lifestyle affect the financial stability of students in the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra who use SPayLater services. We gathered data through a quantitative survey of 100 respondents chosen through purposive sampling and analyzed it using SmartPLS 4. The results show that lifestyle negatively affects financial stability (β = -0.427; p = 0.000). Social pressure also harms financial stability (β = -0.277; p = 0.001). This study's originality lies in its focus on financial stability as the primary outcome. It examines students' financial behavior through the lenses of behavioral finance and Islamic consumption ethics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of brand awareness and event marketing on savings decisions at Bank Syariah Indonesia, specifically at the BSI KCP Medan A.H. Nasution branch. The background of this study is based on the phenomenon of an increasing number of customers despite a previous service system disruption that had the potential to undermine public trust. The research method used is a quantitative approach with data collection techniques via a questionnaire distributed to BSI customers. The data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression. The results indicate that brand awareness and event marketing have a significant influence, both partially and simultaneously, on savings decisions. This indicates that the stronger the brand awareness and the more effective the event-based marketing activities, the higher the tendency for the public to choose to save at Bank Syariah Indonesia. This study is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic banking marketing strategies and serve as a reference for future research.

Abstract

This study explores the development strategies of the anchovy business in Pasar Terandam Village, Barus District, Central Tapanuli Regency, from the perspective of Islamic economics. Although the business has great potential due to abundant marine resources and stable market demand, it still faces various challenges, such as limited capital, the absence of cooperatives, traditional processing technology, and the lack of application of Islamic economic principles. In addition, external factors such as climate change, market competition, and shifting consumer preferences pose further threats. This research employs a qualitative approach with SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, which are then integrated with Islamic economic values such as justice, solidarity, welfare, and sustainability. The findings indicate that relevant strategies include establishing Islamic cooperatives, improving access to Sharia-compliant financing, providing business management training based on Islamic values, innovating products and digital marketing, and applying fair profit distribution. These strategies are expected to support sustainable development of the anchovy business while enhancing the welfare of the local community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of facilities and infrastructure management at PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Division I of North Sumatra from the perspective of railway service users at Medan Station. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis, and analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of facilities and infrastructure management is perceived not merely in terms of availability, but more importantly through functional consistency, accessibility, and maintenance practices in service delivery. Although the management of facilities and infrastructure is considered reasonably effective in supporting basic railway services, limitations remain in terms of functional sustainability and alignment with users’ needs. This study highlights the importance of user perspectives as external indicators in evaluating the effectiveness of public transportation facilities and infrastructure management.

Abstract

Although accurate production cost calculation is essential for MSME profitability, previous studies have focused mainly on external factors such as financing, financial literacy, and marketing, while the accuracy of production cost determination as a basis for pricing in micro-scale food MSMEs remains underexplored. This study addresses this gap by examining the application of the full costing method in determining production costs and its implications for profit accuracy at Keripik Singkong Fajrir MSME, where business and personal expenses are not yet clearly separated. The study employs a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman thematic analysis model. The full costing method was chosen because it incorporates all production cost components, including raw materials, direct labor, and fixed and variable manufacturing overhead. The findings reveal a total annual production cost of IDR 565,800,000, consisting of raw materials (IDR 447,600,000), direct labor (IDR 97,200,000), and manufacturing overhead (IDR 21,000,000). With total sales of IDR 972,000,000 and a selling price of IDR 50,000 per kilogram, the MSME generated a gross profit of IDR 446,200,000 and an operating profit of IDR 443,200,000 after operating expenses. The results indicate that although the current selling price still produces profit, it is based largely on habit and market considerations rather than accurate cost information, making profitability vulnerable to future cost increases. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the importance of comprehensive cost calculation and systematic cost recording to support pricing decisions and improve profit reliability in micro-scale food MSMEs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of halal labels and product quality on food product consumption, with consumer trust serving as an intervening variable, at Bakso Urat Juara Tembung. A quantitative approach was employed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). The sample consisted of 100 Muslim consumers who had previously consumed the product. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using SmartPLS. The findings indicate that halal labels and product quality do not have a significant direct effect on food product consumption. However, both variables significantly influence consumer trust, which in turn has a significant positive effect on consumption behavior. Trust also mediates the relationship between halal labels, product quality, and food product consumption. The R-Square value for Trust was 0.905 (adjusted R² = 0.903), indicating that 90.5% of consumer trust is explained by halal labels and product quality. The R-Square value for Food Product Consumption was 0.801 (adjusted R² = 0.795), showing strong explanatory power. Importantly, trust functions as a full mediator. The direct effects of Halal Label (coefficient = -0.109; p = 0.434) and Product Quality (coefficient = 0.362; p = 0.069) on consumption were insignificant, while their indirect effects through Trust were significant (Halal Label: coefficient = 0.236; p = 0.016; Product Quality: coefficient = 0.395; p = 0.007). These results suggest that consumer trust serves as the key psychological mechanism linking sellers’ claims and product attributes to actual consumption decisions. Therefore, obtaining official halal certification and implementing transparent business practices are recommended to strengthen trust and encourage sustainable consumption.

Abstract

Digital transformation is pushing retail businesses to adapt their marketing strategies through social media. This study analyzes the integration of social media by SMB MMTC and identifies the opportunities and challenges faced. Using a qualitative case study approach, data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation at the supermarket located in Medan City. The results show that Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook play a strategic role in expanding market reach, increasing engagement, and strengthening local branding. Challenges include limited human resources, algorithm changes, restricted promotional budgets, and a lack of data-driven evaluation. From an Islamic economic perspective, business practices align with Sharia principles, including transparency, honesty, and freedom from usury and uncertainty. This study concludes that social media functions as both a promotional tool and an interactive platform, with the success of transformation determined by internal readiness, content innovation, and support from a sustainable digital ecosystem. Public Interest Statement: This research is important for the public because it provides insights into how local retail businesses, such as SMB MMTC, can effectively utilize social media to expand their market, increase interaction with consumers, and implement marketing strategies that are in line with Islamic economic principles in the era of digital transformation.
