Abstract

Penyakit radang sendi atau sering dikenal dengan istilah rematik merupakan penyakit yang banyak menyerang masyarakat pada usia 25-74 tahun dengan prevalensi dan keparahan yang meningkat dengan usia. Terapi pada penyakit ini bukan hanya dengan pemberian obat tapi juga ditunjang oleh terapi non obat. Pemanfaatan tanaman yang bekhasiat sebagai obat tradisional juga dapat menunjang terapi ini, mengingat pengobatan rematik membutuhkan waktu yang sangat lama, bahkan selama hidup. Hal ini dapat menimbulkan resiko efek samping obat yang dikonsumsi. Dengan demikian diperlukan berbagai terapi non obat serta pengobatan alternatif untuk menunjang penatalaksanaan dari penyakit ini. Program ini akan dilaksanakan di Desa Mendalo Indah, RT 02 Kec. Jambi Luar Kota dengan tujuan memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada masyarakat dalam mengatasi penyakit radang sendi (rematik) baik dengan terapi menggunakan obat, obat alternatif maupun dengan terapi non obat seperti diet makanan dan melakukan latihan fisik tertentu agar ketidakberdayaan (disability) yang diakibatkan penyakit ini dapat diatasi sehingga kualitas hidup masyarakat menjadi meningkat dengan mengetahui cara pengobatan yang efektif. Hasil evaluasi pelaksanaan pengabdian yang diikuti oleh warga RT 02, desa Mendalo Indah adalah warga memahami tentang penyakit radang sendi dan bagaimana penatalaksanaannya baik secara farmakogis maupun non farmakologis sehingga mampu melakukan swamedikasi terhadap penyakit itu sendiri untuk menciptakan masyarakat yang peduli dengan kesehatan guna mewujudkan Indonesia sehat. Disamping itu juga diperoleh gambaran insidensi penyakit radang sendi khususnya asam urat pada masyarakat di desa Mendalo Indah.

Abstract

Background: Jernang resin (Daemonorops draco) contains secondary metabolite compounds, namely flavonoids, alkaloids, triterpenoids and steroids that play a role in the healing process of burns. Objective: The development of jernang resin into a pharmaceutical dosage form can be done in the form of nanoemulgel. Nanoemulgel is easy to apply to the skin, and can be specifically targeted to the site of treatment, avoiding first metabolism, and reducing gastric or systemic side effects. Method: the method used is experimental using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with a Post Test Only Control Group Design approach using 25 male white rats consisting of 5 treatment groups: positive control (bioplacenton), negative control (vaseline flavum) F1 1%, F2 3%, F3 5%. The parameters observed were the physical properties of nanoemulgel and the effectiveness of burns on male white rats, namely burn diameter, wound healing percentage, collagen density and fibroblast cells through histological observations. Results: each treatment has effectiveness, The best burn healing effectiveness is in F3 5% with a healing percentage of 93.32% and very dense collagen and fibroblast cells among other treatment groups, followed by F1 1% with a healing percentage of 90.65% and dense collagen density, the effectiveness produced is the same as the positive control (bioplacenton) which is with a burn healing percentage of 90.77%, and the concentration with the lowest effect is in F2 3% with a burn healing percentage of 84.14%. Conclusion: Nanoemulgel with different concentrations does not affect the physical properties of nanoemulgel but has different burn healing effects, with the best concentration being 5% jernang resin extract.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Anak Dalam tribe is an indigenous tribe whose life is still primitive. This minority tribe currently inhabits the provinces of Jambi and South Sumatra. They are known by various names such as jungle people, ulu people, Anak Dalam tribe, and Kubu tribe. Their distance from the outside environment leads them to primarily utilize natural materials for their daily needs, including food and medicinal purposes. This community service activity was conducted in three stages: preparation and permit acquisition, implementation, and evaluation. The activity results demonstrated an improvement in knowledge regarding processing medicinal plants into herbal products. A total of 27 participants attended this activity, showing an improvement in knowledge from 33.33% to 88.89%. Abstract

Nanoparticles are an innovative formulation designed to enhance the bioavailability of drugs with poor absorption while allowing for a more targeted release of active compounds to minimize the risk of side effects. This study aims to develop nanoparticle formulations of young areca nut extract. The ionic gelation method, utilizing 0.02% CaCl2 and 0.1% sodium alginate, was employed in the preparation process. The three formulas were developed with different concentrations and volumes of extract. The evaluation of nanoparticles included phytochemical screening, particle size analysis (PSA), zeta potential, % transmittance, and FTIR for functional group identification. The characterization results of the nanoparticles from young areca nut seed ethanol extract showed that formulas F1, F2, and F3 had particle sizes of 84.267±1.250 nm, 97.367±1.079 nm, and 82.333±0.723 nm, respectively. The polydispersity index values ranged from 0.254±0.046 to 0.325±0.02, suggesting good particle distribution. The zeta potential values, all below -30 mV, indicate the stability of the colloidal suspension system. FTIR analysis showed that the young areca nut seed extract nanoparticles in all formulas contained functional groups such as alcohol, alkene, and amide.

Abstract

The sweet orange peel (Citrus x sinensis L.) possesses antioxidant properties that can be harnessed for developing a pharmaceutical preparation based on natural ingredients, particularly in skin care products such as body scrubs. Meanwhile, coconut pulp (Cocos nucifera L.) has a textural quality that lends itself to use as a scrubbing agent, capable of removing dead skin cells. This study aimed to ascertain the antioxidant activity of body scrub formulations with varying concentrations of extract. The results of the phytochemical screening indicated the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and triterpenoids. Three formulations of body scrub were prepared, designated FI (1.25% extract), FII (2.5% extract), and FIII (5% extract). The results of the physical tests demonstrated that the organoleptic, pH, spreadability, and adhesion tests met the requisite standards. In the antioxidant activity test with the DPPH reagent, the IC50 value of each formula is as follows: The results demonstrated that the IC50 value of each formula was 7.28 ppm (very strong) for FI, 11.839 ppm (very strong) for FII, and 17.354 ppm (very strong) for FIII.

Abstract

Cinnamon leaf essential oil can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria because it contains cinnamaldehyde and eugenol compounds, which function as antibacterials. Staphylococcus aureus is a bacteria involved in various infections in the mouth and human body. This research aims to formulate cinnamon leaf essential oil into a gel toothpaste preparation by differentiating the concentration of cinnamon leaf essential oil as an active ingredient and testing its antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The concentration of active ingredients in formula I is 0.5%, in formula II, 1%, and in formula III, 1.5%. Evaluation of the physical properties of gel toothpaste preparations includes organoleptic, homogeneity, spreadability, pH, viscosity, foam ability, stickiness, and antibacterial activity test against S. aureus using the well diffusion method. The results of the organoleptic and homogeneity evaluations were analyzed descriptively. In contrast, the spreadability, pH, viscosity, foam height, adhesion, stability, and antibacterial activity tests were analyzedstatistically using One-way ANOVA. Organoleptic test results showed yellowish white (FI), light yellow (FII), and yellow (FIII); all three formulas had a characteristic smell of essential oils and were semisolidand homogeneous. The spreadability test results ranged from 5-5.90 cm, pH value from 5.05-5.47, viscosity value from 31,980-43,900 Cp, foam ability from 9-14 mm and adhesion value from 05.84-08.83 seconds. The antibacterial activity test results for formulas I and II formed an inhibition zone in the strong category, while formula III formed an inhibition zone in the powerful category.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Community service activities on Training on Making Herbal Cosmetics at RT.02, Mendalo Indah village, Jambi Luar Kota District aim as follows: a)  Providing knowledge to partner communities about the benefits of herbal plants in the form of cosmetic preparations in order to increase the use value of many herbal plants around the RT.02 Mendalo Indah community; b) Provide technical training to partner communities on how to make herbal cosmetics including masks, scrubs, moisturizers and body scrubs made from active herbal ingredients and how to use them. The results of this PKM activity are expected to form knowledge, competence and empower community independence in RT 02 Mendalo Indah in utilizing and processing medicinal plants around the house into herbal cosmetics in the form of scrubs, body scrubs, masks and moisturizers made from active ingredients from herbs that are safe for use by the community. Counseling on the efficacy of herbal plants in cosmetic preparations and conducting training on processing herbal plants into herbal cosmetics through learning by doing (technical procedures for processing plants) into cosmetic preparations including how to process plants until they are ready for use, introduction to basic ingredients for making cosmetics, how to make cosmetics and how to use and store herbal cosmetics. The people of Mendalo Indah Village understand about the processing and manufacture of cosmetics using herbal plants. Sharing dosage forms of cosmetic products given during training and counseling include scrubs and masks that are efficacious as antiaging, face and skin whitening, exfoliating and antioxidants. Keywords: Cosmetic, Herbal, Mendalo Indah, Jambi   ABSTRAK Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat tentang Pelatihan Pembuatan Kosmetik Herbal di RT.02, desa Mendalo Indah Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota bertujuan sebagai berikut : a) Memberikan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat mitra tentang manfaat tanaman herbal dalam bentuk sediaan kosmetik dalam rangka meningkatkan nilai guna dari tanaman herbal yang banyak di sekitar masyarakat RT.02 Mendalo Indah; b) Memberikan pelatihan teknis kepada masyarakat mitra tentang cara pembuatan kosmetik herbal diantaranya masker, lulur, pelembab dan body scrub berbahan aktif herbal dan cara penggunaannya. Hasil dari kegiatan PkM ini diharapkan dapat membentuk pengetahuan, kompetensi dan memberdayakan kemandirian masyarakat di RT 02 Mendalo Indah dalam memanfaatkan dan mengolah tanaman obat disekitar rumah menjadi kosmetik herbal dalam bentuk lulur, body scrub, masker dan pelembab berbahan aktif dari herbal yang aman digunakan oleh masyarakat. Penyuluhan khasiat tanaman herbal dalam sediaan kosmetik dan melakukan pelatihan mengolah tanaman herbal menjadi kosmetik herbal melalui learning by doing (prosedur teknis pengolahan tanaman) menjadi sediaan kosmetik meliputi cara pengolahan tanaman sampai siap digunakan, pengenalan bahan dasar pembuatan kosmetik, cara pembuatan kosmetik serta cara penggunaan dan penyimpanan kosmetik herbal.Masyarakat Desa Mendalo Indah memahami tentang pengolahan dan pembuatan kosmetik menggunakan tanaman herbal. Abstract

Dadap serep stems contain secondary metabolite compounds of flavonoids, saponins, isoflavonoids, alkaloids and lectins which can act as reducing agents in the biosynthesis of nanosilver. This research aims to determine the effect of the concentration of liquid extract of dadap serep stem on the green synthesis silver nanoparticle (AgNPs) process. The aqueous extract of dadap serep stem reacted with one mM AgNO3 in a ratio of volume 1: 1 (FI), 1: 2 (FII), and 2: 1 (FIII). Characterization of AgNPs includes Surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) using UV/Vis spectrophotometer at wavelengths of 300-700 nm, particle size, and zeta potential using a particle size analyzer (PSA). The result showed that the SPR of AgNP values is 429-436 nm. AgNPs FI, II, and III particle sizes were 66.13 nm, 75.76 nm, and 75.96 nm, respectively. The PDI values below 0.5 confirmed that the distribution of nanoparticles was uniform. The most stable nanoparticle is Formula I.

Abstract

Excessive sun exposure can cause detrimental effects on the skin. Pineapple fruit peels (Ananas comosus L.) and papaya (Carica papaya L.) contain flavonoid compounds that can serve as sunscreen. This study aims to optimize the concentration of pineapple peel extract and papaya fruit peel in sunscreen cream formulations to provide sun protection capabilities in the maximum category. Pineapple and papaya peel extraction uses the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. The concentration of the extract was determined utilizing the Simplex Lattice Design method incorporated in the Design Expert 10 software. Responses used for formula optimization include pH, dispersibility and SPF values of cream preparations. The composition of the optimum formula consists of 7.90% pineapple peel extract and 9.12% papaya peel extract. Evaluation of the optimum formula shows that the resulting cream preparation has a pH of 4.58, a spread power of 9.02 cm2 and an SPF value of 11.35. Preparations of the optimal formula of sunscreen cream have protective activity against ultraviolet rays in the maximum category.

Abstract

Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) mampu meningkatkan inovasi, kreativitas dan kemandirian ekonomi masyarakat melalui berbagai produk dan jasa salah satunya produk teh sungkai KaiKai yang diproduksi oleh UMKM Nurchery yang berada di Kota Jambi, sehingga dapat meningkatkan ketahanan ekonomi nasional. Di era digital dan globalisasi, Inovasi sangat penting dalam persaingan yang ketat. kelangsungan UMKM Nurchery memerlukan inovasi dalam produk, layanan, distribusi dan promosi. Hal ini memungkinkan UMKM Nurchery tetap kompetitif, menjangkau pasar baru dan memenuhi kebutuhan pelanggan yang beragam dan berubah-ubah. Penciptaan produk, termasuk teknik packing design sangat memainkan peran penting dalam kesuksesan UMKM. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dalam hal pengembangan kualitas produk teh sungkai Kaikai melalui inovasi teknik packing designdi UMKM Nurchery adalah untuk meningkatkan daya saing dan nilai tambah produk di pasar yang semakin kompetitif. Inovasi teknik packing design ini dilakukan dengan mempertimbangkan aspek fungsionalitas, estetika dan keberlanjutan lingkungan. Dengan demikian kualitas produk teh sungaki KaiKai tetap terjaga. Dengan inovasi ini, produk sungkai teh Kaikai diharapkan dapat memperluas jangkauan pasar, meningkatkan penjualan dan memperkuat citra merek dagang UMKM Nurchery. Teknik packing design yang baik melindungi produk dari kerusakan dan meningkatkan kesan premium. Perubahan pada teknik packing designproduk dapat meningkatkan nilainya, menarik perhatian pembeli, dan membedakannya dari produk pesaing. Pengemasan inovatif juga menunjukkan kualitas dan identitas merek serta ramah lingkungan. Dengan mengembangkan cara baru untuk mengkemas produk, UMKM Nurchery memiliki kemampuan untuk meningkatkan daya tahan perusahaan dan konkuren di pasar.
