Abstract

Reading ability is a very important basic competency for elementary school students. This research explores the potential of puzzle media as an innovative learning tool to improve students' reading skills. Using the literature study method, this research identifies the advantages of puzzle media, such as the ability to create an interactive, fun and motivating learning experience for students. Various types of puzzles, such as crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and word puzzles, have proven effective in helping students understand letters, words and sentences in a fun way. The implementation of puzzle media faces several challenges, including limited teacher understanding, diverse student characteristics, and lack of parental involvement. Collaboration between teachers, students and parents is key to overcoming these obstacles. This study recommends teacher training, a variety of puzzle media, as well as parental involvement in supporting learning at home. Further research is needed to quantitatively evaluate the effectiveness of puzzle media and integrate it into the basic education curriculum. With an integrated approach, puzzle media can be an effective tool in improving students' reading skills and contribute to improving the quality of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

In the era of globalisation, the tradition of thematic Qur'anic study (ngaji tematik) and classical fiqh face significant challenges, including the erosion of traditional learning spaces and competition from fragmented religious content. However, digital technology offers unprecedented opportunities to democratise access to classical Islamic knowledge (al-turats al-Islami), while preserving its authenticity and depth. This community service programme (PkM) aims to design and implement a digital learning model using Google Meet to preserve thematic Qur'anic study and classical fiqh. The programme will also analyse the impact of this approach on reaching wider audiences and evaluate the challenges involved in building a participatory digital learning community. The study employed Participatory Action Research (PAR), involving 75 participants from diverse backgrounds over a period of six months. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews and an analysis of documents from 16 learning sessions. Qualitative data were analysed using thematic analysis to identify key patterns and insights. The programme successfully developed a three-phase implementation strategy (planning, action and reflection) that effectively created an inclusive digital learning space. Key findings include: (1) the significant democratisation of access to classical Islamic studies across geographical boundaries; (2) the successful adaptation of traditional pedagogical methods (bandongan) through digital, interactive features; and (3) the formation of a cohesive digital community that maintained the values of ukhuwah (brotherhood) and knowledge transfer (naql al-‘ilm). A SWOT analysis revealed that, with proper pedagogical adaptation and community building, digital platforms can serve as effective sanctuaries for preserving classical Islamic knowledge. The Google Meet-based learning model is effective in addressing globalisation challenges by combining technological flexibility with the preservation of the essence of traditional Islamic scholarship. This approach offers a sustainable way to maintain classical learning traditions and expand their reach to modern audiences, making a significant contribution to the discourse on the digitalisation of religious education.

Abstract

Learning model aims to build a learning atmosphere that supports and is in line with learning styles of students. Based on the results initial analysis conducted in class 5 MI Darul Ulum Tambakrejo Waru Sidoarjo, that teacher center learning using traditional learning methods. This situation causes students to not have critical thinking skills. The solution to dealing with this problem is through the application project-based learning model. The purpose writing is to provide analysis results related to the influence learning models on critical thinking skills in students. The type of research used is using quasi-experiments. The results calculation average percentage of students' pretests before using the PJBL model obtained score of 51.8% or were in "Low" category. While the results calculation average percentage of students' pretests after implementing the PJBL learning model obtained score 76.1% in the "High" category. The results calculation average percentage of students' pretests using the conventional model obtained score 51.6% or were in the "Low" category. Meanwhile, the results calculation average percentage of students' pretests on the use of conventional models obtained value 71.3% in the "High" category. The conclusion drawn is that increasing critical thinking skills can be improved by using learning models.

Abstract

The implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) in the Independent Curriculum is an effort to build student character by providing students with opportunities to gain knowledge through direct experience. This study aims to describe the implementation of Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) Independent Curriculum in improving the environmentally caring character of students at MINU Waru 1. Data collection techniques used interviews, observations and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) can improve students' environmentally conscious character with the existence of recycling project activities and teacher strategies that are implemented can bring about changes in students' mindsets towards items that can pollute the environment, and increase students' awareness of the environment around them. The conclusion in this study, the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) provides students with the opportunity to gain knowledge through direct experience so that it can improve students' environmentally conscious character.

Abstract

Listening skills are communication activities that aim to receive information from other people with personal interpretation. By practicing listening, students can develop concentration and elements that can develop through subsequent activities such as reading, speaking and writing. It is hoped that the use of chain message ice breaking games, which has become the center of attention in research on listening skills, can be a solution to motivate and encourage students. In this way, they can feel happy following lessons in class and gain knowledge effectively. Quantitative research methods involve the use of data in the form of numbers and the application of statistical analysis. One efficient form of quantitative research design is experimental research, which is used to test hypotheses and control certain variables through treatment. In the context of experimental design, researchers can compare groups of subjects who receive treatment with groups who do not receive treatment. The application of the Chain Message Icebreaker Games to class IV students at MI At-Taqwa Kebonagung Sukodono Sidoarjo was categorized as "Good" based on the average score obtained. It is known that the average score of the control post-test is 69.85, while the average score of the experimental post-test is 75.30, which is included in the "Good" category. The Arabic listening skills of class IV students at MI At-Taqwa Kebonagung Sukodono Sidoarjo are also in the "Good" category. This can be seen from the average score for the experimental group of 60.80, while the control group reached 53.20, with a difference of 7.6 (60.80-53.20).

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the integration of student character building through the 5S program (Smile, Greet, Salute, Politeness, Courtesy) at SDIT El-Haq Sidoarjo by assessing the implementation of general character education, teachers’ comprehension, and collaborative efforts of school principals and educators. Method: Employing a descriptive qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, with analysis conducted via data reduction, presentation, and inference, and validity ensured through source and data triangulation. Results: Findings indicate that the 5S program is effectively embedded in daily school routines and curricular activities, with teachers exemplifying positive behavior and principals coordinating efforts that result in enhanced student discipline and social courtesy. Novelty: This investigation offers novel insights into the replicability of the 5S program as a holistic model for character formation, presenting a viable strategy to counteract the adverse influences of modern development while fostering a nurturing educational environment.

Abstract

Objective: This study evaluated the effectiveness of a mentoring program aimed at enhancing mastery of the Ummi method in Qur'anic recitation among underperforming 6th grade students at SDIT El-Haq Sidoarjo. Method: The intervention combined intensive consultation, talaqqi sessions, muroja'ah, and periodic evaluations, with data collected through observational assessments and structured feedback from educators and students. Results: The program significantly improved recitation fluency, comprehension, and learning motivation, effectively addressing identified learning deficiencies. Novelty: Integrating traditional recitation practices with modern mentoring techniques, this study offers a replicable model that underscores the importance of collaborative support between schools and parents in enhancing religious literacy.

Abstract

Objective: The research aims to mitigate bullying behaviors through targeted behavioral techniques and improve the psychological well-being of students. Method: Employing a qualitative design, the study utilizes non-participant observations, interviews, and document analysis to systematically collect, organize, and analyze data on bullying manifestations. Results: Findings reveal that bullying is predominantly expressed through physical aggression such as assault, punishment, and hitting, which adversely affect students’ mental health. However, school interventions—including anti-bullying strategies, risk mitigation efforts, and the integration of self-development curricula within Akidah and Akhlak lessons—have resulted in notable positive behavioral changes among students. Novelty: This research introduces a novel application of behavioral methods within a religious educational context, offering valuable insights into effective strategies for reducing bullying while reinforcing moral and ethical teachings in academic settings.

Abstract

The present study aimed to develop the "BIOPAN" Pancasila Big Book learning media for Civics education in grade 1 of MI/SD schools to facilitate the delivery of the learning material for teachers. The research employed a development research (R&D) approach utilizing the ADDIE model, comprising of three stages: analysis, design, and development. The validity of the developed media was evaluated by two validators, assessing aspects of media, design, and material. The results revealed that the "BIOPAN" Big Book learning media was highly valid with a score of 89.61%. Thus, the effectiveness and practicality of the Big Book “BIOPAN” learning media can be tested so that it can be utilized for Pancasila learning in the PPKn subject.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian R&D yang menghasilkan produk berupa media pembelajaran Zig-zag Learning Book atau Zook. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan media Zook. Penelitian dilakukan di SD Muhammadiyah 10 Surabaya. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu validasi, observasi, angket dan tes evaluasi. Hasil data dianalisis menggunakan skala likert dan skala guttman yang selanjutnya dihitung dengan rumus persentase sedangkan hasil tes menggunakan rumus mean. Hasil penelitian meliputi tiga hal meliputi hasil kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan. Kevalidan berdasarkan ahli materi diperoleh sebesar 90%, kegrafikan sebesar 86,7% dengan kategori sangat valid. Kepraktisan berdasarkan keterlaksanaan penggunaan media Zook sebesar 4,56 dengan kategori sangat baik. Keefektifan media Zook berdasarkan hasil respon siswa sebesar 95,4% dengan kategori sangat baik.
