Abstract

This paper investigates the impact of transformer grounding configurations on Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV) during fault current interruption in high-voltage power systems. The study evaluates three grounding schemes: Solid–Solid, Solid–Floating, and Solid–Resistance, applied on a step-down transformer located at the Tello substation. Each configuration was modeled and simulated using ETAP 19 software to observe TRV behavior under three-phase fault conditions. The results demonstrate significant variations in TRV profiles depending on the grounding type. The Solid–Solid configuration exhibits the highest TRV peak (22,500 V) and the steepest Rate of Rise of Recovery Voltage (RRRV), reaching 833.33 kV/ms, indicating severe stress on circuit breaker insulation. In contrast, the Solid–Floating configuration yields a moderate TRV peak (19,800 V) with less consistent waveform stability due to the absence of a defined secondary reference. Meanwhile, the Solid–Resistance scheme, using a 20 Ω resistor, produces the most damped TRV waveform with the lowest peak (17,100 V) and RRRV (approximately 589.66 kV/ms), offering improved insulation coordination. The comparative analysis confirms that controlled grounding through resistance effectively mitigates TRV magnitude and oscillation, making it a viable approach to enhance circuit breaker performance and reliability. These findings can be used to guide grounding system design in high-voltage substations to reduce the risk of re-ignition or insulation failure.

Abstract

The advancement of technology in the 21st century has given rise to a wide variety of educational media applications aimed at improving student learning outcomes, one of which is Kahoot!. Based on a preliminary study conducted at SMA Negeri 10 Banjarmasin, it was found that the use of technology-based learning media such as Kahoot! in history classrooms remains limited, and student learning outcomes have yet to meet the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM) of 70. This study aims to examine the effect of using the Kahoot! application on student learning outcomes. A quantitative approach was employed using a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample comprised 34 students of Class X C as the experimental group and 34 students of Class X F as the control group, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a 38-item multiple-choice test instrument on the topic of Hindu-Buddhist Kingdoms in Indonesia, administered in the form of a pretest and posttest. Data analysis was performed using the N-Gain Score test and the Independent Samples T-test. The results indicated that the experimental group's mean pretest score of 62 increased to 78 at the posttest stage, yielding a mean N-Gain Score of 38.54%, categorized as moderate. In contrast, the control group recorded a mean pretest score of 85 and a posttest score of 87, with a mean N-Gain Score of −3.71%, indicating no meaningful improvement. The Independent Samples T-test produced a two-tailed significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), leading to the acceptance of H₁. It is therefore concluded that the use of the Kahoot! application has a positive effect on improving student learning outcomes in comparison to conventional instructional methods.

Abstract

Higher order thinking skills are essential abilities that need to be optimized in history education because they help students critically analyze, evaluate, and interpret various historical events. However, history education currently focuses on low-order thinking skills, while students’ higher-order thinking skills have not yet developed optimally. This is evident when students are asked to express their opinions; some still rely on the teacher’s guidance and have not yet demonstrated independent thinking. Therefore, learning media that can enhance these skills are needed, one of which is a documentary film that presents historical events visually and contextually. Based on this, this study aims to determine the effect of documentary films on higher-order thinking skills. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects consisted of 34 students in the experimental class and 36 students in the control class. The research instrument was a test. The instrument was tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminative power. Data analysis techniques were tested using normality tests, homogeneity tests, n-gain scores, and hypothesis testing. The results showed that the average score of students in the experimental class increased from 22.17 on the pretest to 24.91 on the posttest, while that of the control class increased from 17.02 to 22.27. Although descriptively, the increase in scores in the control class was higher than in the experimental class, this was due to the high initial scores in the experimental class, which limited the potential for score improvement (ceiling effect). However, the results of the Independent Sample t-Test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of <0.001 (<0.05). Thus, this indicates that the use of documentary films has a significant effect on higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

In 2022, Indonesia implemented a new educational curriculum system, namely the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum), replacing the previous 2013 Curriculum. The purpose of this study is to explain teachers' strategies in implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka in History learning at SMA Negeri 8 Banjarmasin. The curriculum change has had an impact on history learning. The method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and documentation. After the data was collected, data analysis was conducted. Based on the research results, it was found that, not all history teachers at SMA Negeri 8 Banjarmasin teach history using the Kurikulum Merdeka; of the three existing teachers, only one implements the Kurikulum Merdeka in history learning. The implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka has only recently been applied, so there are still many things that need to be considered and adjusted based on school readiness. The obstacles faced by both teachers and students in implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka are the lack of teacher readiness in implementing the curriculum and the limited availability of learning textbooks for students. The conclusion of this study is that teachers have good potential in developing the strategies used to deliver material. The obstacles faced by teachers in implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka in history learning are related to the limited availability of facilities or media, as well as the limited allocation of available learning time.

Abstract

Students' spatial understanding in history learning remains suboptimal, particularly in recognizing the geographical location of events, determining direction and distance, and explaining relationships between regions in historical contexts. This study aims to describe the use of the Google Earth application in history learning, to compare the level of students' spatial understanding between the experimental and control classes, and to examine the effect of using Google Earth on the spatial understanding of grade X students at SMK Negeri 2 Banjarmasin. A quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental Nonequivalent Control Group Design was employed, involving an experimental class (Google Earth) and a control class (short video), each consisting of 34 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments that had been tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, N-Gain Score, and the Mann-Whitney U test. The results show that the implementation of Google Earth in history learning ran well. The experimental class's mean score increased from 16.09 to 17.70 (N-Gain 0.23, low category), while the control class increased from 15.92 to 17.37 (N-Gain 0.35, moderate and more stable category). The Mann-Whitney U test (Asymp. Sig. = 0.146 > 0.05) indicated no statistically significant difference between the two classes, mainly due to limited learning time that increased students' cognitive load while learning to operate a new application. Nevertheless, Google Earth qualitatively provided a more interactive and contextual learning experience. It is concluded that Google Earth has the potential to become an effective history learning medium when supported by sufficient time allocation and combined with other appropriate learning media.
