Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the influence of health, spatial layout, and work discipline on employee work effectiveness. Methodology/Approach: An associative quantitative method was employed with a population comprising 50 State Civil Apparatus (ASN) at the Ogan Komering Ilir Regency Education Office. The sampling technique used was purposive non-probability sampling. Data were collected through primary sources, namely questionnaires distributed to respondents, and secondary sources, including documentation and relevant literature studies. Results/Findings: The results of the t-test indicate that health, spatial layout, and work discipline variables each partially influence work effectiveness. Furthermore, the F-test confirms that these three variables collectively exert a positive and significant effect on employee work effectiveness. These findings suggest that the optimization of workplace health, spatial arrangements, and discipline policies directly contributes to improved performance. Conclusion: Employee work effectiveness is significantly shaped by health, spatial layout, and work discipline, both individually and in combination. Strategic improvements in health programs, office spatial design, and discipline reinforcement can substantially enhance overall performance at the Education Office. Limitations: This study is limited to ASN employees within one agency, thereby restricting generalizability to broader populations. Contribution: The study offers insights for human resource development and provides a benchmark for future academic inquiry. It contributes to academic literature, practical evaluation, and policy considerations, particularly for leadership in enhancing health standards, workplace design, and discipline measures to improve employee effectiveness.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the effect of human resource competence and work ethic, both partially and simultaneously, on the professionalism of employees at the Palembang Food and Drug Administration. Methodology/approach: The population consisted of 106 employees, including 83 Civil Servants (PNS) and 23 Non-Civil Servants (PPNPN). The sample comprised 83 Civil Servants (PNS) selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20 with validity, reliability, normality, heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity tests, multiple linear regression analysis, coefficient of determination (R2), t-test, and F-test. Results: The t-test results show that human resource competence has a positive and significant effect on professionalism, while work ethic has a less significant negative effect. The F-test indicates that both human resource competence and work ethic significantly affect employee professionalism at the Palembang Food and Drug Examination Center. Conclusions: Human resource competence positively influences employee professionalism, whereas work ethics have a less significant negative effect. Together, these two factors significantly contribute to professionalism at the center. Limitations: The study was limited to Civil Servants (PNS) at the Palembang Food and Drug Administration and may not apply to other institutions or employee types. Contribution: This study contributes to the understanding of how human resource competence and work ethic influence employee professionalism, particularly in public sector institutions such as the Food and Drug Administration.

Abstract

Purpose: This community service activity aims to improve the ability of MSME actors in Burai Village through training and coaching in the fields of production, business management, and the use of good packaging and labeling. Methodology/approach: The approach used in implementing community service involves providing support to meet needs through assistance and education. The methods employed included lectures, demonstrations, and mentoring. Results/findings: usiness management is not yet fully optimized, which limits the effectiveness of business operations. Additionally, products such as wet cakes and kemplang lack proper packaging, which could enhance their appeal. Furthermore, the absence of effective labeling has led to poor product recognition among consumers. Conclusions: The conclusion drawn from the findings is that while the home industry has adequate facilities, it faces challenges in business management, packaging, and labeling, which hinder product appeal and recognition. Addressing these issues through training and support can enhance the development and growth of MSMEs in the home industry sector. Limitations: While the home industry owners have adequate facilities and infrastructure, they remain underdeveloped in terms of business management, packaging, and labeling. Contribution: This program aims to offer training and support to address issues related to management, packaging, and labeling, thereby enhancing MSMEs' capabilities to grow their businesses in the home industry sector. This activity is supported by Sriwijaya University's community service grant as a practical demonstration of community engagement.

Abstract

The research addressed a gap in the literature by examining how market orientation and competitive environment jointly influenced value creation and marketing performance in private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), a relationship that remained underexplored, particularly in emerging economies during the COVID-19 recovery period. While previous studies had examined market orientation or competitive factors in isolation, few had integrated these constructs with the mediating role of value creation in the context of service marketing for HEIs. Data were collected through purposive sampling from 225 students enrolled in private universities in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia, between July and September 2023. Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression was employed due to the observed variables, relatively small sample size, and the need for a parsimonious model estimation. The findings show that the competitive environment significantly enhances value creation, whereas market orientation does not significantly affect value creation. Market orientation has a direct positive impact on marketing performance, while the competitive environment exerts a negative influence. Moreover, value creation partially mediates the relationship between competitive environment and marketing performance, but not between market orientation and marketing performance. These results highlight the strategic role of value creation in navigating environmental challenges and sustaining marketing effectiveness. The research contributes to the literature by integrating competitive environment into the market orientation–performance framework in the under-researched context of Indonesian private HEIs. It also offers practical implications for institutional leaders to align their strategic orientation with value-driven initiatives to enhance competitiveness.
