Abstract

Daily activities and occupation can significantly influence health conditions, so a health assessment related to occupational factors is essential to reduce the risk of the disease. One of the leading causes of mortality from cardiovascular disease worldwide is hypertension. This study aims to determine the correlation between the type of occupation toward blood pressure and cholesterol levels in individuals with hypertension. This paper was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The population was individuals with hypertension at Depok 2 Public Health Centre, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. In addition, the sample was 121 respondents with consecutive sampling. The independent variable was the type of occupation, and the dependent variables were blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Instruments were a questionnaire to evaluate the characteristics of respondents and the type of occupation, a digital sphygmomanometer to examine blood pressure, and cholesterol test kits to assess cholesterol levels. The data analysis used the Chi-Square test with α=0.05. Most respondents were female (59.5%) and aged 60-69 years old (47.1%). They worked in the informal sector (81.2%). In addition, they had grade 1 hypertension (52.1%). There was no significant correlation between the type of occupation and blood pressure in individuals with hypertension (p=0.248). In addition, most respondents had high cholesterol levels (50.4%). Furthermore, there was no significant association between the type of occupation and cholesterol levels in individuals with hypertension (p=0.128). In conclusion, the type of occupation is not a risk factor for increased blood pressure and cholesterol levels in individuals with hypertension.

Abstract

Mental health is essential to achieving a comprehensive degree of health, but it has not become a top priority in some developing countries. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for people to access physical and mental health services. The situation of this pandemic pushes WHO and mental health services as an integral component of the condition. Only a third of healthcare providers in the United States can receive standardized mental health care. In developing countries with low and middle incomes, 75% more people experience neurological disorders, mental disorders, and addictive substance abuse. The prevalence of patients affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is around 4-41%, and the prevalence of major depression due to the epidemic - increased by 7%. Unfortunately, of those with mental disorders, only a tiny percentage get proper treatment.

Abstract

Introduction: COVID-9 is a global pandemic and causes changes in behavior and life. The implementation of health protocols is the most important aspect to prevent the transmission of COVID19, especially in the Islamic boarding schools (Pondok Pesantren) community. The aim of this study is to identify the practice of a clean and healthy lifestyle as well as the application of health protocols in the Pondok Pesantren to control the spread of COVID-19. Methods: The preliminary survey was conducted as a part of training for the healthy student cadre and the establishment of COVID-19 shelters in Pondok Pesantren in The Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Fourteen questions including the name of Pondok Pesantren and multiple-choice questions related to clean and healthy living behaviors comparison before and during the pandemic, health protocol implementation during the pandemic, and provision of COVID-19 prevention and control program. Results: Total sample consisted of 84 students from 18 Pondok Pesantren in The Special Region of Yogyakarta. Among the factors affecting the student’s compliance with health protocol implementation in Pondok Pesantren were the disparity of individual’s understanding and obedience to rules and regulations regarding health protocol implementation (71,8%), inadequate facilities (12,8%), and other factors including that there was no strict supervision and punishment for violation upon regulations. Conclusion: Pondok pesantren is an institution that needs more attention amid the pandemic of COVID-19. Dense population, minimum infrastructure, and relatively poor access to healthcare facilities have made them a vulnerable community.

Abstract

The value of D-dimer value, lactic acid levels, and the results of blood gas analysis (PaO2, PCO2, PH, and PaO2/FiO2) are prognostic factors for COVID-19 patients, although there is no agreement on the optimum cut-off point for specificity and sensitivity. The aim of this study is to examine D-dimer value, lactic acid levels, and the results of blood gas analysis as a prognosis for patients with severe or critical COVID-19. This was a retrospective study of the medical records of the UGM Academic Hospital. Overall survival was assessed by the Kaplan-Meier curve. Determination of the cut-off for D-dimer, lactic acid, and BGA variables was carried out using the ROC followed by calculating the Youden index. Then the hazard ratio was determined by Cox regression. The cut-off value to determine the group of patients on the D-dimer and lactic acid variable was 881 ng/mL (sensitivity 77.23%, specificity 32.31%) (p=0.040) and 21 ng/mL, patients with lactic acid values above the cut-off had a higher risk of death (p=0.391). The cut-off of pH, PaO2, and PaCO2 were 7.43, 72.2 mmHg, and 33.9, respectively. D-dimer levels, lactic acid, and PaCO2 values in blood gas analysis above the cut-off value had a worse survival rate, while patients also had a worse survival rate if the PaO2 and PH values were below the cut-off value.
