Abstract

Biology is considered difficult for students to study, this condition cannot be separated from the nature of science. Studying science is complex because it emphasizes unification, systematization, combination and analysis of information and concepts. The aim of this research is to measure the level of learning difficulties experienced by class X Science students on Protista material. The method used is a case study. The research subjects were students of class X Science at SMA Negeri 3 Tebas, Sambas Regency. Data collection instruments consist of diagnostic tests, questionnaires and interviews. The results of the research showed that the learning difficulty of class X Science students at SMA Negeri 3 Tebas on Protista material was 91.94% with very high criteria. The factors that influence students' learning difficulties are internal factors of 78.18% with strong criteria, and external factors of 64.14% with strong criteria.

Abstract

This research was conducted to improve the learning process that has been carried out by teachers in delivering learning material which still uses conventional learning models which results in a bored learning atmosphere and students are not motivated in learning which ultimately causes low student learning outcomes, especially in biology lessons. The aim of this research is to determine the feasibility of a team games tournament model learning tool assisted by question card media on reproductive system material in high school. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) or research and development with 5 stages, namely stages; potential and problems, gathering information, product design, design validation, and design revision. The products produced in this research are learning tools in the form of RPP, LKPD, and Powerpoint media as well as Question card media. The research results show that the validated learning tools are declared valid, this is because the average statement has a value above the validity standard set by researchers in accordance with Aiken's V calculation rules, namely that each item V ≥ 0.87. For RPP the average statement value is 0.93, for LKPD the average statement value is 0.92, for PPT the average statement value is 0.93. And for media Question cards, the average statement value is 0.95. From the results obtained, it can be stated that the learning tools developed are feasible and can be used in the learning process.

Abstract

Item analysis is carried out to improve the quality of items through revision or discarding ineffective items. This study aims to determine the quality of the items of the Summative Assessment of Science Subjects Class VII SMP Negeri 3 Pontianak Academic Year 2022/2023. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive method. Data obtained through documentation in the form of student answer sheets tested to 135 students with 30 multiple choice questions analyzed in aspects of validity, reliability, difficulty level, and differentiability with the Rasch Model using the R Program, especially R-Studio. The results of the analysis show that the questions have good validity quality because there are only 28 items that fit (93%) and 2 items that do not fit (7%), the reliability is categorized as sufficient with a reliability value of 0.683, the level of difficulty is good because it has a level of difficulty that varies from the category of very difficult, difficult, easy and very easy, good distinguishing power because it distributes person ability into 5 scales, namely very low, low, medium, high and very high so that it can measure students with diverse abilities, so that based on the results of the analysis it can be judged that the questions have good quality with good validity, sufficient reliability, good difficulty level and good distinguishing power.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a module as teaching materials on the Sub Material Living Things Classification of living things sub-material with a discovery learning approach combined with folklore and determine students' responses to these teaching materials. This study uses the first three stages of the Thiagarajan 4D model development method: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research instruments used were validation sheets and questionnaires. The sample in this study was class X high school students consisting of 15 people. The five product validators consisted of two lecturers from the Biology Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tanjungpura University, three biology teachers from 2 high schools in Pontianak City, and one from Sambas Regency. The module validation sheet consists of 4 aspects, namely content, language, presentation, and graphics consisting of 20 indicators. The student response questionnaire consists of three aspects, namely cognitive, affective, and conative aspects, comprising 26 statements. The response questionnaire validators consisted of 2 lecturers from the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP, University of Tanjungpura. Developing a module based on discovery learning sub-material classification of living things is declared feasible because it obtains a validity value of CVR = 1, meaning that the module is valid in content. Modules declared feasible are tested on a limited basis and obtain an average result of 81.9% in the very strong category. Further research is needed to test modules in larger classes.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology enables the development of technology-based learning media that can visualize concepts clearly, such as learning videos. These videos can be developed based on various sources, including research findings. Therefore, this study aims to develop a learning video on the topic of the circulatory system for high school students in the eleventh grade, based on the hemostatic activity test of sungkai leaves extract (Peronema canescens Jack.). The development process follows the Research and Development (RD) approach, which includes analyzing potential issues, gathering information, designing the product, validating the design, making improvements, and producing the final product. The video contains nine learning objectives organized into five sessions. The validity of the learning video is assessed based on four aspects: format, content, linguistic, and presentation. According to the validation results from the validators, all aspects received a very valid rating, with average scores of 0.96 for format, 0.95 for content, 0.93 for linguistic, and 0.95 for presentation. Overall, the average score for all four aspects is 0.95, indicating a very valid rating. This suggests that the developed video is suitable for use as a learning media.

Abstract

This research refers to Toulmin's Argument Pattern (TAP) that have components including claims, data, evidence, support, qualifications, and disclaimers. This research is conducted with the objective of understanding the relationship or correlation of scientific argumentation skills with each indicator that refers to Toulmin's theory. This research was conducted by distributing test questions based on the Toulmin indicator, carried out through 3 stages, such as preparation, to prepare scientific argumentation questions, the implementation test questions with class VIII students in Pontianak City and reporting to find out the relationship between results of scientific arguments and each Toulmin indicators. The data analysis method employed is a descriptive quantitative analysis approach, which involves presenting the data through score distributions and predefined rating scale categories. Furthermore, the analysis utilizes the SPSS 21 software to determine the correlation between scientific skills and individual indicators. The findings indicated that the relationship among the results of scientific argumentation on the data indicators was 0.028, the relationship with the qualification indicator was 0.191, the relationship with the claims indicator was 0.002, the relationship with the support indicator was 0.000, the relationship with the refutation indicator was 0.003, and relationship with the evidence indicator was 0.029. Based on the value of the relationship on each indicator. It can be reduced that there exists a distinct correlation between each indicator and the outcomes of scientific arguments.
