Abstract

Snakebite envenomation is a neglected tropical disease that affects millions of individuals living in underdeveloped countries. Cerebral complications are often found in venomous snake bite victims. Certain snake venoms can interfere with the blood's ability to clot, increasing the risk of bleeding in the brain and potentially causing a stroke. previous literature review studies have not comprehensively reviewed stroke hemorrhagic after snake bites. Therefore, we are interested in conducting a literature review using the scoping review method on stroke hemorrhagic after snake bites. The samples in this study were published articles from international journals related to cerebral complications after snakebite that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The inclusion criteria used in this study were articles derived from the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Scopus databases, using the keywords “Snakebite” OR “Snake envenoming” AND “Stroke hemorrhagic”. Based on the eligibility, Six articles were finally synthesized in the study. All of papers were a case report design. Three cases were from Brazil, three cases from Morocco, Burkina Faso and Togo. The snake that causes hemorrhagic stroke in Brazil is Bothropp spp. however, the type of snake in the instances from Burkina Faso and Morocco is unknown. There were a total of 10 instances reported from 6 journals. One patient from Morocco died, while another patient from Brazil suffered from prolonged hemiplegia. Furthermore, a total of 8 more patients were released from the hospital in an improved condition.

Abstract

One of the activity programs that students at UMY University Residence (UNIRES) must complete within the first year is memorizing Al-Qur'an juz 30. Physical fitness has been linked to good memorization abilities and improving overall cognitive function. More evidence is needed to see how fitness level influences the ability to memorize Al-Qur'an, especially among students. This research aimed to determine the effect of providing an aerobic fitness program on the ability of UNIRES students to memorize Al-Qur'an. The quasi-experimental pre-post test research method without a control group involving 29 participants was conducted; it consisted of 15 male and 14 female residents of UNIRES, who were taken using convenience sampling. The intervention was an aerobic exercise fitness program guided by an instructor, which is carried out every two days for 30 minutes for 14 days and can be followed independently via the YouTube link provided. The fitness test is carried out using the 6-minute walk test method, given before and after students are given aerobic treatment and determined by measuring VO2 max. Participants were asked to memorize Al-Qur'an Surah An Nisaa verse 23 and measured the duration of memorization. This verse was chosen because of the trickiness and complexity level of the words; there are several similar words/sentences repeated (words ending in تُكُمْ) in the verse. The average VO2 max before and after intervention was 40.97 ± 9.87 and 42.68 ± 5.00, while memorization ability was 2,496.21 ± 1,654.53 seconds and 1,162.62 ± 726.33 seconds. There was no significant difference in VO2max before and after training with p 0.508, greater than 0.05. Conclusion: No significant correlation exists between memorization time and VO2max, either before or after training. The interventions need to be extended to get more optimal results, and the number of participants needs to be increased, besides the involvement of a control group.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, transmitted through airborne droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. Environmental conditions, such as poor ventilation and lack of sunlight, can facilitate the persistence of TB bacteria indoors. Sunlight and good air circulation play key roles in reducing bacterial survival. Health cadres are vital in detecting and managing TB cases in their communities. The Sanden Community Health Center runs a TB prevention and control program (P2TB) to help reduce TB incidence. A 49-year-old woman presented with a persistent cough for approximately two months, accompanied by fatigue, significant weight loss, and decreased appetite. The cough was intermittent, sometimes with phlegm, and unresponsive to cough medication. About a month prior, a Rapid Molecular Test (TCM) at a lung hospital in Yogyakarta confirmed TB. She had a history of unhealthy sexual behavior and was previously diagnosed with syphilis but tested negative for HIV. The patient also has metabolic syndrome. On physical examination, she appeared mildly ill but alert (E4M6V5), with a respiratory rate of 16/min. Lung and skin examinations were normal. Abdominal circumference was 112 cm. The patient received education on TB recognition, prevention, and intervention. Interventions were tailored to be patient-centered, family focused, and community-oriented. She was classified as a bacteriologically confirmed TB case, with no previous history of TB treatment and a negative HIV result..
