This article delves into the burgeoning coffee market in Jakarta, Indonesia, to explore the factors that have propelled local coffee brands to success. It examines the cultural significance of coffee in Indonesian society, the increasing demand for specialty coffee, and the strategies employed by local brands to gain a competitive edge. Coffee has evolved beyond a mere beverage in Jakarta, becoming a symbol of cultural importance and a cherished tradition that unites people from diverse backgrounds. The article highlights the vibrant coffee culture in Jakarta, where coffee shops serve as social hubs, fostering connections and providing spaces for relaxation, intellectual discussions, and community engagement. It explores the coexistence of commercial and specialty coffee, with local brands catering to the diverse preferences of consumers. The article also delves into the strategies employed by local brands to cater to the demand for specialty coffee, including affordability, quality sourcing, and customization options. By understanding and adapting to the unique preferences of Jakarta's coffee culture, local coffee brands have emerged as significant players, shaping the future of the city's coffee industry. The research methodology involves interviews with industry professionals and the author's observations as a coffee professional and SCA trainer, providing valuable insights into Jakarta's specialty and commercial coffee landscape.

Digital innovation has transformed the specialty coffee sector, altering business models and presenting industry participants with a competitive advantage. This abstract investigates the transformative effect of digital innovation in the specialty coffee sector, looking at how it affects business practices and market dynamics. This study illustrates how digital innovation has transformed customer experiences, enhanced operational efficiency, and supported sustainability practices through a detailed review of case studies and industry data. The findings emphasize major technologies that are driving this transition, such as remote sensing, blockchain, and data analytics, as well as successful methods employed by coffee-producing and consuming countries. The specialty coffee business can unleash new development prospects, build worldwide relationships, and stay ahead in a fast-developing market by adopting digital innovation It is a resource for industry professionals who want to employ digital innovation to gain a competitive advantage and generate long-term business growth in the specialty coffee market.

Abstract

During the pandemic in the last two years, it has evolved a challenge for teachers and parents and for developing children's thinking. At an early age where they should be able to learn constantly through the school and home environment, they suddenly descend into a situation of uncertainty which makes the limitations of developing their behaviour. As the nation's best generation hopefuls, it is necessary to introduce children through a logical framework to have independence, especially in dealing with uncertain situations at this time. The authors are straining how children can apply it through direct guidance from parents and teachers with hybrid guidance through this framework. Through qualitative concepts accompanied by interviews and observations in SD Islam & Tahfidz Ibnu Umar Tangerang Selatan, parents feel the progress of their children's way of thinking in dealing with time and making more use of it positively through their daily activities and adding self-confidence, especially in their independence in making choices in the use of time.

Abstract

The UAE has potential and opportunities from all stakeholders to revitalise the country as a hub of specialty coffee in the Middle East. Nevertheless, with the agitating demand for coffee, where only 60% is met by global coffee supply from smallholders, besides five countries that limit the production of 72% of coffee in the world. In addition to the challenge of the world's demand for 25% of coffee in 2030, will specialty coffee be sustainable for future generations (WCR, 2021)? All stakeholders from leaders need challenges to embrace and cooperate; restore all chains from farmers' needs as the core of coffee itself. The UAE will become sustainable in every coffee value chain if UAE can overcome this challenge as early as possible. It is hoped that all opportunities will be able to create an absolute three bottom legs of sustainability in the coffee farm, which will support future needs.

Abstract

Morocco's long gastronomy history creates it unique for tourists who visit the country from time to time. In addition, developing specialty coffee in the Middle East requires Morocco to follow the third-wave coffee culture. Therefore, in sustaining specialty coffee in Morocco, the community, especially youth, participates in cultivating this third-wave culture, apart from following global economic trends and developing communities in coffee knowledge from farm to cup. The author's visit to Morocco to explore the uniqueness of specialty coffee and discover its new coffee cultures in the region for the last four years. This report is qualitatively based on observations from visits and interviews with Hajar Jeddou, one of the coffee professionals in Morocco. The relationship between coffee and culture is a complex and harmonious symphony through its local wisdom, with each element contributing to a larger, beautiful composition. Coffee has played a significant role in many cultures worldwide, symbolising hospitality, socialisation, and tradition. This relationship has also led to cultural exchange and innovation, with coffeehouses becoming centres of intellectual and artistic trade. Specialty coffee has brought a new level of sustainability to the industry, emphasising transparency, traceability, and ethical practices. This symbiotic relationship between culture and sustainability has created a unique and harmonious blend of social, cultural, and economic sustainability, promoting a more holistic and equitable world. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia has embraced the fourth wave of specialty coffee, recognising its potential to drive gastronomic growth in their creative economy SMEs. Small businesses like Sulalat and Camel Step have emerged as industry leaders, emphasising sustainability and transparency in the coffee supply chain. The Saudi government has also implemented initiatives to support small businesses in the specialty coffee industry, driving economic growth. The fourth wave of specialty coffee has created a new coffee culture in Saudi Arabia, focusing on sustainability and unique flavours. As the industry expands, it is expected to create new opportunities for entrepreneurs and drive economic growth in the country. Moreover, the specialty coffee industry in Saudi Arabia is driving diversity and promoting sustainability through initiatives such as fair pay and working conditions for coffee farmers, promoting sustainable farming practices, and reducing waste. The sector supports local coffee producers and roasters, fostering economic growth and entrepreneurship in the region; it also works with coffee farmers globally and promotes sustainable coffee farming practices. The industry is leveraging artificial intelligence and high-end machinery to improve coffee production and reduce the negative environmental impact of farming. The specialty coffee industry is committed to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting social, economic and ecological sustainability. By focusing on these areas, the industry is creating a more sustainable and equitable coffee industry that benefits the global community. Abstract

This article offers a unique perspective on the specialty coffee industry by exploring the intersection of standardisation and cultural diversity in Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. It fills a gap in the existing literature by focusing on the experiences of Indonesian coffee professionals working in Saudi Arabia. This study's qualitative research includes interviews with Indonesian coffee professionals working in Saudi Arabia's growing cities, observations, and literature reviews. The research findings highlight the importance of balancing standardisation and cultural diversity in the specialty coffee industry. Indonesian coffee professionals recognise the significance of standardising specific parameters in the coffee brewing process to ensure consistency and quality while respecting consumers' cultural differences and preferences. The study's insights provide valuable guidance for coffee professionals, industry stakeholders, and policymakers interested in promoting a sustainable and diverse specialty coffee industry in the region. This article contributes to the growing literature on the intersection of coffee sociology, offering a fresh perspective on the complex relationships between culture, identity, and work practices in the coffee industry. Ultimately, this article aims to promote diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability in the specialty coffee industry, creating a more equitable and sustainable future for coffee professionals, consumers, and the environment.

Abstract

In uncertain conditions, the current pandemic has forced all schools to adopt the new pedagogy approach. It makes every student and teacher adapt to a renewable education system through hybrid learning. Therefore, it is aligned with teaching and learning activities and the essential competencies required for each school to implement and make this program a success. Moreover, through the hybrid system, it is necessary to experiment with a system of teaching and learning activities in Arabic language science, Islamic Studies, and memorising Tahfidz al-Quran, which has been taking place in the past semesters at SMA Islam Ibnu Umar Tangerang Selatan. The existence of good cooperation between students' teachers and other stakeholders from the family will help the success of this program, and it is expected that it will be sustainable in the long term.

Abstract

Riyadh, one of the cities with the most significant population in the Middle East, has become a tourist destination for gastronomy, apart from that with the development of the fourth-wave coffee culture. This is evidenced by the advancement of specialty coffee with the need for supermassive and sophisticated coffee roasteries and coffee shops to develop coffee communities of various age levels, apart from the global trend and also the development of local coffee acculturation without leaving the local wisdom heritage wealth of Saudi coffee as one of the global heritages. The remarkable growth of the fourth-wave coffee culture will also support sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the Middle East, making Riyadh a role model for the global coffee community, which is part of the coffee value chain constantly sustaining from the Jazan farm to the consumer cup. This research incorporates a qualitatively written with the instrument snowball approach through interview and observation and invites several stakeholders from coffee professionals who have been pioneers in the development of specialty coffee from product to community in the last decade in Riyadh. The impact of the findings through this research will assist in developing a coffee value chain in Saudi Arabia, which has helped strengthen local economic empowerment through SMEs and diversifying local wisdom from the global heritage of Saudi coffee. In addition, it is also assisted by a review of literature that explains the fourth-wave coffee culture, gastronomic tourism and sustainable development goals.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of modern coffeeshops on social behavior and cultural dynamics in Unaizah. The opening of the coffeeshops has introduced a new gathering style, influencing the adoption of a contemporary lifestyle, particularly among the youth population. However, this transformation also raises questions about its implications for Unaizah's cultural identity and traditional values. Applying social influence theory and the concept of cultural adaptation, this research explores the underlying motivations and processes driving this social change. While tensions may arise between tradition and modernity, the fusion of old and new elements in the coffeehouse’s design presents an opportunity for preserving Unaizah's heritage while embracing contemporary influences. The study recommends further research to gain a comprehensive understanding of this social transformation and its long-term effects. Practical implications are highlighted to assist policymakers, community leaders, and coffeeshops owners in navigating the challenges and harnessing the benefits of this cultural shift. Moreover, by fostering dialogue and understanding, Unaizah can achieve a harmonious coexistence that balances tradition and modernity, ensuring a sustainable cultural landscape.
