Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat tetang aplikasi kompos kotoran kambing pada budidaya tanaman terung telah dilakukan di Dusun Mertak Umbak Kecamatan Praya Kabupaten Lombok Tengah. Mitra kegiatan pengabdian adalah 10 orang petani yang berdomisili di RT 01 Dusun Mertak Umbak Desa Mertak Tombok. Ada 2 permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra, yaitu: mitra belum memiliki pengetahuan tetang cara pengolahan sampah organik menjadi suatu produk yang bermanfaat. Permasalahan kedua adalah tingginya biaya usaha pertanian yang disebabkan oleh tingginya jumlah pupuk kimia yang diperlukan dan harus dibeli oleh mitra dengan harga yang mahal. Penyelesaian masalah pertama dilakukan dengan mengolah sampah organik menjadi kompos dan penyelesaian masalah yang kedua dilakukan dengan melakukan pemupukan tanaman menggunakan kompos. Ujicoba aplikasi kompos dilakukan pada tanaman terung hijau. Pada pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini, mitra terlibat secara aktif mulai dari awal sampai dengan akhir kegiatan. Setelah berakhirnya kegiatan ini mitra dapat melakukan pengolahan sampah organik menjadi kompos serta mendapatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam aplikasi kompos pada lahan pertanian.

Abstract

Taman Wisata Alam (TWA) Kerandangan memiliki fungsi sebagai tempat pelestarian alam dan juga dimanfaatkan untuk kegiatan pariwisata dan rekreasi alam. Salah satu potensi yang dimiliki oleh TWA Kerandangan adalah penangkaran kupu-kupu jenis Troides helena, yang merupakan salah satu jenis kupu-kupu yang dilindungi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan konsep ekowisata melalui kupu-kupu Troides helena kepada anak-anak yang tinggal di sekitar TWA Kerandangan. Pelaksanaan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat terdiri dari tiga kegiatan, yaitu pengenalan dan morfologi kupu-kupu secara umum dan morfologi Troides helena, praktek menangkap kupu-kupu dan lomba mewarnai kupu-kupu. Pengenalan morfologi kupu-kupu sebatas dijelaskan bagian-bagian tubuh kupu-kupu. Anak-anak praktek menangkap kupu-kupu kemudian diamati bersama berbekal dari materi yang telah dipelajari sebelumnya, kemudian dilepaskan kembali. Kegiatan dilanjutkan dengan lomba mewarnai kupu-kupu. Anak-anak diminta mewarnai kupu-kupu berdasarkan hasil pengalaman praktek penangkapan kupu-kupu yang telah dilaksanakan.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to test whether organizational climate and organizationalcommitment either partially or simultaneously have a role in influencing organizationalcitizenship behavior at the Metro City Samsat Office. The design of this study usesquantitative, the number of samples found in employees is 32 respondents. The samplingtechnique uses census sampling. Data analysis used validity and reliability tests, prerequisitetests used normality, linearity and homogeneity. Abstract

Through the use of instructional games, this study investigates the function of student engagement in the acquisition of the English language. This study uses a combination of in-depth interviews, thematic analysis, and direct observation along with qualitative research methodologies to investigate the dynamics of student interaction in a game-based learning environment. The findings demonstrated that the usage of games greatly enhanced language proficiency, student engagement, and communication abilities. During the game sessions, there was a 40% rise in the use of new vocabulary and a 60% increase in English verbal contact. Furthermore, 80% of groups demonstrated greater levels of cooperation, and 75% of students actively participated in class. The use of mother tongue has decreased by 30% as well. This study shows that game-based learning has significant potential to enhance students' linguistic competency and collaborative skills in learning English, despite obstacles like uneven participation and other distractions. The significance of choosing games that are suitable, providing scaffolding, managing the classroom well, and incorporating formative assessment strategies are all practical implications for educators.

Abstract

Mastery of English has become an increasingly important requirement in this era of globalization. As an international language, English plays a crucial role in various aspects of life, ranging from education, career, to cross-cultural communication. In Indonesia, although English has been taught since elementary school level, there are still many students who experience difficulties in English speaking practice. This phenomenon raises concerns among educators and education stakeholders. Many university students have studied English for years but are still reluctant or unconfident to use it in everyday conversation. This reluctance is often referred to as "ignorance" or indifference to the importance of English speaking practice. Various factors can contribute to this problem, including ineffective teaching methods, lack of exposure to the use of English in real contexts, and psychological factors such as language anxiety and fear of making mistakes. Given the importance of English speaking skills in today's globalized world, it is important to delve deeper into the phenomenon of students' indifference in practicing spoken English.

Abstract

Wilayah Nusa Tenggara memiliki sekitar 378 jenis burung, diantaranya 33% (125 spesies) endemik. Kekayaan ini merupakan potensi untuk menarik wisatawan, terutama burung megapodius reinwardt, Philemon buceroides dan Cacatua sulfurea. Potensinya sebagai obyek ekowisata belum dimanfaat secara optimal. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk (1) membangun kesadaran dan memperkenalkan potensi burung terutama burung khas daerah sebagai atraksi ekowisata pada masyarakat yang berada di sekitar kawasan TWA Kerandangan, dan (2) membuat leaflet ekowisata berbasis burung di TWAKerandanagan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini melibatkan lima orang dosen dari program sarjana Pendidikan Biologi FKIP Universitas Mataram. Kegiatan pengabdian ini telah dilakukan dalam bentuk sosialisasi dan pelatihan kepada 25 orang peserta dari kelompok wisata Kerandangan Forest di Desa kerandangan. Kegiatan sosialisasi dilakukan secara klasikal dengan memberikan informasi yang terkait dengan potensi burung di TWA Kerandangan. Sosialisasi lebih lanjut dilakukan oleh khalayak sasaran dengan membagikan leaflet hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini kepada para wisatawan pada saat berkunjung ke TWA Kerandangan.

Abstract

Optimizing long-term memory in vocabulary is a significant challenge for many university students. The author explores various strategies which include: (1) spaced repetition, (2) use of mnemonic devices, (3) contextual learning, (4) active use, (5) visual aids and mind mapping, (6) self-testing with mobile apps, and (7) associative learning. Each strategy is discussed in depth in current research. The findings show that a combination of several strategies, such as spaced repetition with memory practice, the use of verbal mnemonics, contextualized learning, and visual aids, can significantly improve vocabulary retention and language comprehension.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Babbel platform in enhancing English pronunciation skills among senior high school students. Many students struggle with clear and accurate pronunciation, which affects their communication confidence and fluency. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Babbel platform in improving English pronunciation skills among senior high school students. A total of 25 students, selected through purposive sampling based on predetermined criteria, participated in this cyclical action research. These students, with beginner- to-intermediate English proficiency, used Babbel’s pronunciation practice feature for 30-minute sessions. The research was conducted over one cycle, involving four phases: planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. In the planning phase, activities were designed based on Babbel’s features to target students' specific pronunciation difficulties. The implementing phase involved practicing pronunciation with real-time feedback from the app. During the observing phase, pre- and post-tests were administered, showing a 61.6% improvement in pronunciation, with the mean score rising from 45.00 to 86.60. Semi-structured interviews provided qualitative insights into students' learning experiences. In the reflecting phase, both quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed to assess improvements in pronunciation. In the planning phase, activities were designed based on Babbel’s features to target students' specific pronunciation difficulties. The implementing phase involved practicing pronunciation with real-time feedback from the app. During the observing phase, pre- and post-tests were administered, showing a 61.6% improvement in pronunciation, with the mean score rising from 45.00 to 86.60. Semi-structured interviews provided qualitative insights into students' learning experiences. In the reflecting phase, both quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed to assess improvements in pronunciation. Results confirmed a significant enhancement in pronunciation skills and increased student confidence. Data validity was ensured through triangulation, incorporating pre- and post-test results, interviews, and observations. The findings suggest that the Babbel platform effectively improves English pronunciation and boosts learners' confidence, contributing to more effective communication.

Abstract

Pembelajaran materi pengayaan yang kontekstual di sekolah belum dilakukan karena tidak ada buku materi pembelajaran kontekstual yang menyajikan dari hasil penelitian. Faktor ini yang menjadi permasalahan utama mitra dan tawaran penyelesaiannya adalah dengan mensosialisasikan materi pengayaan keanekaragaman hayati khususnya kumbang indah yang ada di sekitar sekolah. Taman Wisata Alam Suranadi Pulau Lombok dekat lokasi dengan sekolah mitra. Pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan sekitar atau CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) siswa dapat melihat secara nyata, mengalami sendiri materi pelajaran yang ada di sekitar lingkungannya sehingga sangat menyenangkan. selanjutnya dengan CTL dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dibelajarkan dengan buku kontekstual yang berisi materi pelajaran yang ada di sekitar siswa. Hasil belajar siswa di SMAN sekitar Taman Wisata Alam Suranadi masih di bawah standar KKM 75. Metode kegiatan ini adalah sosialisasi, pembelajaran dan pendampingan. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini untuk mensosialisasikan berbagai jenis kumbang indah sebagai materi pengayaan keanekaragaman hayati di SMAN 1 Narmada. Setelah selesainya pelaksanaan kegiatan ini juga akan dilaksanakan pendampingan pembelajaran yang dilakukan guru untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan. Hasil pengabdian sebagai berikut 1) telah dilakukan sosialisasi berbagai jenis kumbang indah indah sebagai materi pengayaan keanekaragaman hayati di SMAN 1 Narmada 2) peserta kegiatan pengabdian 100% mengikuti, menanggapi dan memahami materi sosialisasi. Kesimpulan sosialisasi berbagai jenis kumbang indah sebagai materi pengayaan keanekaragaman hayati di SMAN 1 Narmada dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini terlaksana dengan baik dengan antusiasme peserta kegiatan yang tinggi.
