Abstract

Abstract Critical thinking skills in science learning are important competencies for elementary school students in facing the challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to describe the critical thinking skills of grade V students in science learning at MI Miftahul Huda Banyuwangi. The method used was descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The results showed that 18 out of 26 students obtained a percentage of <50%, which included a relatively weak category. The conclusions of this study are: (1) The critical thinking skills of fifth grade students in learning science are influenced by internal and external factors. Internal factors include student characteristics, reading ability, learning motivation, writing ability, and student habits. External factors include the organization of learning by teachers and habituation carried out by teachers to students. (2) The critical thinking skills of fifth grade students in science learning are relatively weak. (3) Low critical thinking skills are caused by students' low language and reasoning skills.Keywords: Critical Thinking, Elementary School, Language and Reasoning Abilities

Abstract

 This study aims to analyze the strategies for developing students' talents and interests in the tahfidz program to support character formation at MIN 1 Bondowoso. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this research involved the school principal, tahfidz teachers, students, and parents as research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using a thematic approach. The findings indicate that the main strategies implemented in the tahfidz program include the talqin method, muraja'ah, and motivation based on rewards. These strategies have proven effective in improving students' memorization while simultaneously shaping their discipline, responsibility, and honesty. The responses from teachers (88%) and students (90.74%) reflect high enthusiasm for the program. However, challenges such as the limited number of teachers, minimal supporting facilities, and the lack of flexibility in memorization targets remain obstacles that need to be addressed. This research also found that the development of students' talents and interests has not been optimally integrated into the tahfidz program. Therefore, more inclusive strategies are needed to accommodate students' individual potential while strengthening Islamic character formation. This study is expected to serve as a reference for madrasahs in managing an effective, sustainable tahfidz program that focuses on the holistic development of students.Keywords: Talents and Interests, Student Character, Tahfidz Program Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi pengembangan bakat dan minat dalam program tahfidz guna mendukung pembentukan karakter peserta didik di MIN 1 Bondowoso. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, penelitian ini melibatkan kepala madrasah, guru tahfidz, siswa, dan orang tua sebagai subjek penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, yang dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi utama yang diterapkan dalam program tahfidz meliputi metode talqin, muraja'ah, dan motivasi berbasis reward. Strategi ini efektif dalam meningkatkan hafalan siswa sekaligus membentuk karakter disiplin, tanggung jawab, dan kejujuran. Respon guru (88%) dan siswa (90,74%) menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi terhadap program ini. Namun, kendala seperti keterbatasan tenaga pengajar, fasilitas pendukung yang minim, dan kurangnya fleksibilitas target hafalan masih menjadi tantangan yang perlu diatasi. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pengembangan bakat dan minat siswa belum terintegrasi secara optimal dalam program tahfidz. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan strategi yang lebih inklusif untuk mengakomodasi potensi individu siswa sekaligus memperkuat pembentukan karakter islami. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi rujukan bagi madrasah dalam mengelola program tahfidz yang efektif, berkelanjutan, dan berorientasi pada pengembangan holistik peserta didik. Kata kunci: Bakat Minat, Karakter peserta didik, Program Tahfidz
