Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah sebuah penelitian tindakan kelas yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan prestasi menulis siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 2 Singaraja melalui peer review dan Facebook. Ada dua siklus yang dilaksanakan dalam penelitian ini, setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan seperti perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengawasan dan penilaian, dan refleksi. Tahap perencanaan mencangkup pembuatan sebuah grup Facebook dan pembuatan RPP. Sedangkan tahapan pelaksanaan dan pengamatan terjadi di dua tempat yaitu di kelas dan di online melalui grup Facebook. Kemudian penilaian dilakukan segera setelah data terkumpul dan refleksi dilakukan setelah penilaian dilaksanakan. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan kesuksesan peningkatan prestasi menulis siswa. Pertama, ada kecendrungan yang positif dari skor rerata siswa, meningkat dari 64,9 di pre test menjadi 77,9 di siklus pertama dan menjadi 88,7 di siklus kedua. Oleh karena itu bisa dikatakan bahwa indikator kesuskesan penelitian yang pertama sudah dicapai. Kedua, tidak ada siswa yang tertinggal lagi di siklus kedua. Hasil pre test menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 26 siswa yang tidak lulus nilai KKM yaitu 72. Di siklus pertama, jumlah yang tidak lulus berkurang menjadi empat orang dan akhirnya tidak ada siswa yang memiliki nilai dibawah KKM pada siklus kedua. Ini berarti indikator kesuksesan penelitian yang kedua sudah tercapai. Ketiga, tanggapan siswa terhadap penerapan teknik ini sangatlah bagus. Menurut mereka, teknik ini sangat berguna untuk membantu mereka dalam menulis sebuah teks. Ini berarti indikator kesuksesan penelitian yang ketiga juga sudah dicapai. Karena ketiga indikator kesuksesan penelitian sudah dicapai, berarti penerapan peer review dan Facebook benar-benar mampu meningkatkan prestasi menulis siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 2 Singaraja.Kata Kunci : prestasi menulis, Peer review, Facebook This research was a classroom action research aimed at improving students’ writing achievement for grade X in SMA Negeri 2 Singaraja through peer review and Facebook. There were two cycles conducted in this research; each cycle consisted of four steps namely planning, action, observation and evaluation, and reflection. In the planning steps were carried out to create a Facebook group and make lesson plans. Meanwhile, the action took place inside the classroom and online on the Facebook group. The observation and evaluation was done soon after the data was collected and the reflection was done after the evaluation conducted. The results of the research showed that the students’ writing achievement can be improvement successfully. First, there is a positive trend of the students’ mean score. It increased from 64.9 in the pre test to 77.9 in the first cycle and to 88.7. Therefore, it can be said that the first research success indicator was achieved. Second, there were no students left behind in the second cycle. In pre test, there were 26 students who did not passed the passing grade of 72. In the first cycle, the number decreased to 4 and finally all students’ score had passed the passing grade after the second cycle. This means that the second research success indicators had been achieved. Third, the students’ response toward the implementation of the technique is positive. Most of the students thought that the technique was very useful to help them write a text. This means that the third indicator of research success had also been accomplished. Since the three research indicators had been successfully accomplished, it can be concluded that the implementation of peer review and Facebook does really improve students’ writing achievement for grade XI in SMA Negeri 2 Singaraja.keyword : writing achievement, peer review, Facebook

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan proses morfologi afiksasi yang ada di bahasa kode yang digunakan orang muslim di desa Pulukan yang memiliki peran dalam membangun kata dan maknanya ketika Bahasa tersebut ditambahkan ke basis tertentu. Itu karena bahasa Pulukan yang unik, peneliti perlu tahu lebih banyak tentang bahasa itu dan memberikan perhatian untuk membuat bahasa ini ada. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) Untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis afiks di Bahasa Pulukan , 2) Untuk mengetahui proses afiksasi membangun kalimat. Penelitian ini dirancang dalam bentuk penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara proses, dan menggunakan beberapa instrumen seperti: peneliti itu sendiri, alat perekaman, daftar kata, dan pedoman wawancara. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah penutur asli desa Pulukan. Ada 3 orang dari Kampung Baru, Kampung Ledok, dan Kampung Loji. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa di Bahasa Pulukan ditemukan tiga jenis afiks. afiks yang ditemukan adalah: Prefix {N-, me-, di-, ber-, ter-, se-}, akhiran {-i, -an, -ne, -no, -ken, -nye}, dan pengombinasian dari dua afiks {N-i, N-ken, N-ne, ke-an, pe-an, me-i}. Selain itu ada beberapa proses afiksasi yang ditemukan di Bahasa Pulukan yaitu proses derivasi dan proses infleksi. Dari proses - proses derivatif yang ditemukan, beberapa kata dapat mengubah arti kata tersebut berdasarkan dimana Bahasa tersebut digabungkan.Kata Kunci : Afiksasi, Bahasa Kode yang Digunakan Orang Muslim di Desa Pulukan, Proses Morfologi This study aimed at describing the morphological process concerning affixation found in Code of Muslim of Pulukan village which has roles in constructing words. It is because the language is unique, the researcher needs to know more about that language and give attention to make this language existed. The purposes of this research were: 1) To find out the affixes in Pulukan village dialect, 2) To know the affixation processes in constructing the word. This research was designed as a descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected through observation and interview, and the instruments were: the researcher itself, recording tools, words list, and interviewing guide. The subjects of this research were native speakers of Pulukan village. They were 3 people from Kampung Baru, Kampung Ledok, and Kampung Loji. The result of this study found three types of affixes. Those affixes that were found are: Prefix {N-, me-, di-, ber-, ter-, se-}, Suffix {-i, -an, -ne, -no, -ken, -nye}, and Confix {N-i, N-ken, N-ne, ke-an, pe-an, me-i}. Besides that there were some processes of affixation that were found in Code of Muslim of Pulukan village, they were derivational process and inflectional process. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada kemampuan menulis siswa kelas delapan SMP yang diberikan metalinguistic written corrective feedback dan siswa yang tidak diberikan feedback. Penelitian experimental ini mengambil kelas VIII yaitu kelas VIII B sampai VIII F sebagai populasi dan sampel kelas VIII B dan VIII F yang dipilih melalui cluster random sampling, dimana kelas VIII B sebagai kelompok control dan kelas VIII F sebagai kelompol eksperimen. Desain penelitian ini adalah pretes-postes kontrol group. Data yang diperoleh yaitu nilai pretes dan postes siswa yang kemudian dianalisis dengan deskriptif statistik dan inferensial statistik. Dalam pengujian hipotesis, digunakan analisis ANACOVA dalam SPSS 17.0. Berdasarkan hasil uji ANACOVA, didapakan nilai signifikan pada kelompok adalah 0.024 yang merupakan lebih tinggi dari tingkat signIfikan 0.05. Hal tersebut berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dengan kelompok kontrol, maka hipotesis nul ditolak. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat dampak berbeda antara siswa yang diberikan metalinguistic written corrective feedback dengan siswa yang tidak mendapakan feedback. Kata Kunci : metalinguistic written corrective feedback, kemampuan menulis The present study aimed at investigating whether or not there was a significant difference in writing competency between the eighth grade junior high school students who received metalinguistic WCF and those who did not receive any feedback. This experimental study took the eighth grade students in SMPN 1 Abiansemal as the population and VIIIB and VIIIF respectively as the control and experimental group through cluster random sampling. The design of the study was pretest-posttest control group design. The data were the students' pretest and posttest that were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. ANCOVA test was used in analyzing the data and to test the hypothesis. The result of the analysis using ANCOVA in SPSS 17.0 showed that the significance value of the group was 0.024 which was lower than the significance level 0.05. It means that the null hypothesis was rejected. It was concluded that there was a significant difference between students who received metalinguistic WCF and those who did not receive any feedback.keyword : metalinguistic written corrective feedback, writing competency

Abstract

This study was a qualitative research. This study intended : 1) to identify and classify the types and the pettern of expressive used by the eleventh grade students at SMA N 2 Singaraja in expressive. 2) to identify the style of the students locutionary acts to express something. 3) to identify and classify the types of errors are committed by eleventh grade students at SMA N 2 Singaraja expressing their idea in terms of grammar and diction 4) to analyze the source of error as committed by the students’ locutionary acts.The subject of this study were eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Singaraja. The data were collected by using several instrument, namely: note, interview guide and recorder. The results of the study showed that 1) The types of expressive acts were used among the eleventh grade students at SMA N 2 Singaraja were apologizing, thanking, congratulating, and welcoming. 2) The speech style used in terms of formality among the eleventh grade students at SMA N 2 Singaraja were 78.01% informal language and 21.99% formal language. 3) The errors are commited in their utterances in terms of grammar and diction at SMA N 2 Singaraja were 54.03% error of grammar and 45.97% error of diction. 4) The source of errors were commited by the eleventh grade students at SMA N 2 Singaraja were called as interlanguage errors. These errors happed when the interference of students’ first language occured in the target language. In other words, the students assumed that the structures of their first language are the same with the target language. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan bentuk linguistik, arti dan fungsi jargon yang digunakan oleh resepsionis pada front office di Asa Bali Luxury Villa and Spa Seminyak. Jargon dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori dari Allan & Buridge (2006), dan di dukung oleh teori Yule 2006, Chaer & Agustina 2010. Penelitian ini di desain menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Jargon yang di identify kasi adalah jargon yang digunakan dalam bentuk lisan dan tertulis. Tehknik - tehknik yang digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data adalah observasi, dokumentasi dan interview. Dalam hasil penelitian, ditemukan 120 jargon yang digunakan oleh resepsionis di front office Asa Bali Villa and Spa. Dalam bentuk linguistik, jargon – jargon yang digunakan oleh resepsionis terdiri dari noun phrases (46 atau 38%), abbreviation (29 atau 24%), noun (21 atau 18%), clipping (5 atau 4.1%), affixation (4 atau 3.2%), borrowing (4 atau 3.2%), acronym (3 atau 2.4%), preposition phrases (3 atau 2.4%), verb (2 atau 1.6%), adjective (2 atau 1.6%), coinage (1 atau 0.5%). Arti dari 120 jargon didefinisikan berdasaran interview pada staff villa, dokumen resepsionis, kamus, dan konteks penggunaan jargon. Data analisis menunjukan terdapat dua fungsi jargon, (1) sebanyak 37 data (30%) menyajikan bahasa yang khusus untuk mengefisienkan komunikasi dan (2) 83 data (70%) meningkatkan solidaritas dalam kelompok. Jargon merupakan sebuah variasi bahasa untuk berkomunikasi di dalKata Kunci : jargon, front office department, Asa Bali Luxury Villas and Spa ABSTRACT This study aimed at identifying and describing the linguistic forms, the meanings and the functions of jargon used by receptionists of the front office department at Asa Bali Luxury Villas and Spa Seminyak. The jargon was analyzed respectively through Allan & Burridge’s (2006) theory and supported by Yule’s (2006) theory, and Chaer & Agustina’s (2010) theory. This study was conducted in qualitative method. The front office jargons were investigated in spoken and written forms. The subjects of this study were receptionists of the front office department at Asa Bali Luxury Villa and Spa Seminyak. The methods of data collection were observation, documentation and interview. This study found that 120 types of jargon were used by receptionists in front office department. It was found that the jargon was in the form of noun phrases (46 or 38%), abbreviation (29 or 24%), noun (21 or 18%), clipping (5 or 4.1%), affixation (4 or 3.2%), borrowing (4 or 3.2%), acronym (3 or 2.4%), preposition phrases (3 or 2.4%), verb (2 or 1.6%), adjective (2 or 1.6%), and coinage (1 or 0.5%). The meanings of 123 jargon was identified by investigating technical meaning. Besides, this study found that there were two functions of the jargon, (1) providing a technical or specialist language to make communication more efficient and (2) encouraging group solidarity. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengidentifikasi suara frikatif yang salah diucapkan oleh siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri 3 Singaraja (2) menginvestigasi tipe suara yang digunakan siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri 3 Singaraja untuk mengganti suara frikatif yang salah diucapkan. Dalam penelitian ini, dua puluh tujuh orang siswa dipilih sebagai subjek penelitian. Data diambil dengan cara memberikan lima belas kalimat kepada siswa yang didalamnya terdapat dua puluh lima kata yang masing – masing kata mewakili suara frikatif kemudian siswa diminta untuk mengucapkan kalimat – kalimat tersebut lalu penulis merekam suara para siswa. Data yang diambil dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan tabel. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa siswa dapat mengucapkan suara fricatif [s] dan [h], sedangkan suara yang sering salah diucapkan adalah suara [f], [v], [θ], [ð], [z], [ʃ], dan [ʒ]. Kata Kunci : suara fricatif Inggris This study was aimed at (1) identifying fricative sounds which are mispronounced by the second grade students of SMK Negeri 3 Singaraja (2) investigating the types of sounds used to replace English fricative sounds by the second grade students of SMK Negeri 3 Singaraja In this study there were twenty seven students were chosen as the subjects of study. The data were collected by giving the students fifteen sentences consisting twenty five words which represents English fricative sounds and asked the students to pronounce the sentences then the writer recorded the students’ pronunciation. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively by using tables. The study concluded that the students were able to pronounce fricative sounds [s] and [h] while the other sounds such as [f], [v], [θ], [ð], [z], [ʃ], and [ʒ] sounds are frequently mispronounced. keyword : English fricative sound

Abstract

Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi kesopanan yang digunakan oleh siswa kelas sepuluh di Canggu Community School (CCS). Subjek penelitian ini adalah 20 siswa dari kelas Simon Baccanello (SB). Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dari Brown and Levinson sebagai landasan teori utama. Dari 20 siswa kelas sepuluh, 36% siswa setuju menggunakan strategi bald on record, 40% setuju menggunakan strategi kesopanan positif, 26% setuju menggunakan strategi kesopanan negatif, 21% setuju menggunakan strategi off record dan hanya 5% dari 20 siswa yang mengatakan setuju menggunakan strategi don’t do FTA. Dari transkrip data yang diperoleh, terdapat 173 ungkapan berbeda yang digunakan oleh siswa. Dari keseluruhan ungkapan tersebut, 52% termasuk dalam strategi kesopanan positif. Strategi strategi ini mereka gunakan untuk menyampaikan keluhan mereka secara halus, menunjukkan kedekatan hubungan satu sama lain, menunjukkan kemarahan dan membuat pendengar mengerti apa yang mereka rasakan, menunjukkan ketertarikan atau ketidaktertarikan terhadap pelajaran tersebut dan meunjukkan ketodakpuasan atas jawaban yang diberikan. Kata Kunci : siswa kelas sepuluh, kesopanan, tujuan This study was a descriptive qualitative research which is aimed at describing politeness strategy used the by tenth grade students of Canggu Community School (CCS). The subjects of this study were 20 students from Simon Baccanello (SB) class. This study used theory of Brown and Levinson as grand theory. The research instruments were human instrument, voice recorders, questionnaire, note taking and observation sheet. Form 20 students of the tenth grade, 36 % agreed to use bald on record strategy, 40% agreed to use positive politeness strategy, 26% agreed to use negative politeness strategy, 21% agreed to use off record strategy, and only 5% agreed to use don’t do Face Threatening Act (FTA) strategy. It was also supported by the result of data transcription which were 173 utterances found. From those utterances, 52% were categorized as positive politeness strategy. Those strategies were used for the following purposes, such as: expressing complains softly, showing close relationship, showing anger and made the hearer understood what the speaker felt, showing their interest or not in the lesson, showing their satisfaction to the answer. keyword : tenth grade students, politeness, purposes

Abstract

Penelitian ini dikategorikan sebagai penelitian tindakan kelas yang telah dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa di kelas VIIIB di SMP N 1 Banjar tahun ajaran 2015/2016 melalui penerapan teknik Reading Response Journal. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri empat kegiatan utama yaitu, perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Untuk mengumpulkan data, ada tiga jenis instrument yang digunakan yaitu tes, angket, dan catatan harian peniliti. Data yang didapat dalam penelitian ini dianalisis secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Data yang diperoleh dalam pre-test dan post-test dianalisis secara kuantitatif, sedangkan data dari angket dan catatan harian peniliti dianalisis scera kualitatif. Berdasarkan dari hasil tes siswa dalam pre-test, hanya 12,5% siswa melewati KKM (kriteria kelulusan minimal). Tetapi dalam post-test I, hasilnya meningkat menjadi 57.5% siswa, dan terakhir pada post-test II, kriteria pencapaian sudah mencapai 87.5% siswa yang secara sukses melewati KKM (criteria kelulusan minimal). Dengan kata lain, kesuksesan dari penelitian juga berdasarkan dari hasil angket dan catatan harian peneliti yang menunjukkan sikap positif siswa terhadap penerapan dari teknik Reading Response Journal dalam kegiatan membaca siswa.Kata Kunci : pemahaman membaca, strategi Reading Response Journal, penelitian tindakan kelas, siswa kelas delapan This study was categorized as classroom action research which was done to improve the students’ reading comprehension at Class VIIIB in SMP N 1 Banjar in the academic year 2015/2016 through the implementation of Reading Response Journal strategy. This study was done in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four main activities namely planning, action, observation and reflection. To collect the data, there were three kinds of instruments used namely tests, questionnaire, and researcher’s diary. The data obtained in this study were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The data gained in pre-test and post-test were analyzed quantitatively, while the data from questionnaire and researcher’s diary were analyzed qualitatively. Based on the result of this study, it was found that the students’ reading comprehension in Class VIIIB in SMP N 1 Banjar had improved significantly. It was indicated by the result of students’ tests in which in pre-test, there were only 12.5% students passing the school passing grade. But in post-test I, the number increased into 57.7% students, and finally in post-test II, the criteria of success reached as 87.5% students could successfully passed the standard passing score. In addition, the success of the study was also based on the results of the questionnaire as well as the researcher’s diary which showed the students’ positive attitudes toward the implementation of the Reading Response Journal strategy in their reading activities.keyword : reading comprehension, Reading Response Journal strategy, classroom action research, eighth grade students.

Abstract

Tujuan penilitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kesalahan-kesalahan pengucapan pada kata-kata bahasa Inggris dan penyebab-penyebab terjadinya kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh oleh siswa kelas sebelas SMK Negeri 1 Sukasada. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas sebelas Akomodasi Perhotelan SMK Negeri 1 Sukasada tahun ajaran 2015/2016 yang terdiri dari 30 orang siswa. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan perekam suara dalam membaca nyaring dan wawancara. Kemudian, data dianalisis melalui prosedur analisis kesalahan yang terdiri dari mentranskrip seluruh data yang direkam, menganalisis kesalahan siswa, mengklasifikasikan kesalahan, menghitung kesalahan, menjelaskan kesalahan berdasarkan sumber. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa telah diklasifikasikan ke dalam konsonan, vokal, dan vokal rangkap. Peneliti menemukan 564 total kesalahan, yang terdiri dari 167 atau 29.60% kesalahan pada konsonan, 262 atau 46.50% kesalahan pada vokal, dan 135 atau 23.90% kesalahan pada vokal rangkap. Kesalahan pada vokal adalah kesalahan yang sering dilakukan oleh siswa. Penyebab kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa adalah kesalahan intralingual dimana kesalahan disebabkan oleh telusuran didalam target bahasa (inggris), interlingual dimana kesalahan disebabkan oleh efek dari bahasa ibu dan kesalahan latihan dimana kesalahan adalah hasil dari kesalahan mengajar. Kata Kunci : kesalahan pengucapan, analisis kesalahan, sumber kesalahan. The aim of this research is to analyze the pronunciation errors in English words and the sources of errors made by the students at the eleventh grade of SMK Negeri 1 Sukasada. The research design used in this study was descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this research were the students at eleventh grade Akomodasi Perhotelan of SMK Negeri 1 Sukasada in academic year 2015/2016 that consisted of 30 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used recorder in reading aloud and interview. Then, the data were analyzed through error analysis procedure which consists of transcribing all data recorded, analyzing students’ errors, classifying the errors, evaluating the errors, explaining the errors based on the sources. The result of the data analysis shows that the errors made by the students were classified into consonant, vowel, and diphthongs. The researcher found 564 total errors, consisting of 167 or 29.60% errors in consonant, 262 or 46.50% errors in vowel, and 135 or 23.90% errors in diphthongs. Error in vowel is the most frequent errors made by the students. The sources of the errors made by the students are intralingual errors which were caused by the traced back to the target language (English), interlingual errors which were caused by the effect of the first language, and training errors which were the error that the result of wrong teaching techniques. keyword : error pronunciation, error analysis, source of error.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk, fungsi bahasa dan faktor Bahasa inggris digunakan antara pedagang jalanan ketika mereka berkomunikasi dengan para wisatawan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Banjar Hot Spring, Bali. Empat pedagang jalanan dipilih sebagai subyek penelitian ini berdasarkan kriteria. Penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dimana data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara kualitatif. Peneliti adalah instrumen utama yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Dua perangkat yang digunakan oleh peneliti untuk mengumpulkan data, yaitu perekam video dan notetaking. Peneliti mengamati data dengan merekam percakapan yang dilakukan oleh subyek selama dua kali. Data ditranskrip dan dianalisis untuk mengetahui bentuk, fungsi bahasa dan faktor bahasa inggris. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa bentuk bahasa inggris yang digunakan antara pedagang jalanan adalah penyimpangan dari apa yang biasanya digunakan dalam hal tata bahasa, sintaksis, dan kosa kata dan juga ada beberapa komponen bahasa yaitu phonology, morphology, and syntax, Berdasarkan teori Spratt, Pulverness, dan Williams (2005: 17), ada tujuh fungsi bahasa yang digunakan antara pedagang jalanan ketika mereka berkomunikasi dengan wisatawan. Fungsi-fungsi Bahasa yang di maksud yaitu salam, menawarkan barang dan jasa, meminta pendapat, memberikan informasi, tidak setuju, berterima kasih, dan meninggalkan tempat yang digunakan antara pedagang jalanan, ada tujuh fungsi yang menjadi fokus penelitian ini.Kata Kunci : Bahasa Inggris, Pedagang jalanan, Bentuk, Fungsi Bahasa. This study was aimed at finding out the forms, language function and factor of English used by the Street Vendors when they communicated with the tourists. This study was conducted at Banjar Hot Spring, Bali. Four street vendors were chosen as the subjects of this study based on the criteria. This study was descriptive qualitative in which the data collected were analyzed qualitatively. The researcher is the main instrument employed in this study. Two devices were used by the researcher to collect the data, namely video recorder and notetaking. The researcher observed the data by recording the conversation done by the subjects for two times. The data were transcribed and analyzed to find out the form, language function and factors of English. The result of the data analysis showed that the form of English used by the street vendors was a deviation from what is normally used in terms of grammar, syntax, and vocabulary and also some component of language such as phonology, morphology, and syntax. Based on the theory Spratt, Pulverness, and Williams (2005: 17), there are seven function of language used by Street Vendors when they were communicating with the tourist. Those language functions were greeting, offering goods and service, asking opinion, giving information, disagreeing, thanking, and leave-taking That is used by street vendors, there were seventh function that become the focus of this study.keyword : English, Street Vendors, Form, Language Function.
