Abstract

This study aims to analyse various publications related to research discussing play activities in early childhood in Indonesia during the period 2015-2025. The research approach used in this study was qualitative, with a literature review based on data obtained from the Scopus database using Publish or Perish software. The results of the study show that publications related to play activities in early childhood in Indonesia occurred mostly in the period 2022-2025, with the highest number in 2025, namely 20 studies. After analysing the literature sources related to play in early childhood, the focus was on aspects of child development, which consisted of 11 studies. Thus, these findings illustrate that research related to play activities provided to children is still limited to the form of developmental stimulation. As a follow-up, the researchers hope that there will be more research that prioritises play activities as a child's right or children's wellbeing.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by teachers to cultivate social character among young children Social character development in early childhood serves as a critical foundation for fostering positive social interactions within educational environments. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research involved five experienced teachers as the primary informants. Data were gathered through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and intensive documentation over a two-month. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles & Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, display, and verification through triangulation. The findings indicate that the primary strategies—comprising modeling, cooperative play, positive reinforcement, and effective communication—significantly enhance children's cooperation and empathy. However, the implementation of these strategies often faces challenges stemming from the heterogeneity of the children's backgrounds and a lack of synergy with parental involvement. Consequently, this study recommends strengthening school-family collaboration and implementing differentiated pedagogical training for teachers to optimize the development of adaptive social character in diverse early childhood settings.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of instilling a sense of patriotism from an early age through enjoyable activities that are aligned with children’s developmental characteristics. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of traditional games on the development of patriotism in children aged 5-6 years. This research employed a quantitative experimental method with sampe of 20 students. The results indicate that traditional games have a significant effect on enhancing children’s patriotism, as evidenced by the hypothesis testing results, where the calculated t-value (22,568) is greater than the t-table value (1,729). The improvement in children’s abilities after the treatment shows that through traditional games, children can learn to preserve culture, develop a sense of care, and build togetherness with peers and their environment. These findings are beneficial for early childhood education as an alternative strategy that is both effective and enjoyable in fostering character values, particularly patriotism, through contextual and culturally based play activities.
