Abstract

Population growth causes the need for clean water to increase. Disinfectants that are often used in the water treatment process include Chlorine. The right Chlorine residue is one of the important aspects that ensures water reaches consumers with good quality. The purpose of this study is to conduct a study on the use of chlorine in raw water treatment at the Giri Menang Mataram regional drinking water company. This research is a study; this study was carried out in the working area of the Regional Drinking Water Company Giri Menang Mataram. This Research is a study on the suitability of chlorine levels in raw water at the Giri Menang Mataram Regional Drinking Water Company. The stages of the study begin with preparation, data collection, data analysis, discussion and producing study results to determine the suitability of chlorine levels with applicable regulations. From this research, the results obtained are that the manufacture of chlorine in the Giri Menang Mataram Regional Drinking Water Company is not in accordance with the calculation for chlorine needs in each water source, resulting in a lot of sediment. It is hoped that the Giri Menang Regional Drinking Water Company can review the use of chlorine in accordance with the appropriate dosage calculation.

Abstract

The tofu industry is a type of industry that operates in the field of food processing from soybean raw materials. The tofu industry is dominated by small-scale businesses, most integrated into residential areas. The tofu industry has yet to process the liquid waste it produces. High environmental pollution can result in the death of aquatic biota due to lack of oxygen. This research aims to reduce BOD and COD levels that do not meet quality standards. Based on this, research was conducted to reduce the organic content in tofu liquid waste using pumice stone as a filtration medium. The research used a 2.5-inch PVC pipe with a height of 70 cm and a media size of 8 mesh, which was heated at temperatures of 50°C and 100°C. The research results after treatment showed that the initial concentration of BOD levels was 160 mg/L. After going through the filtration process with media heating treatment at 50°C and 100°C, the BOD levels were reduced to 116.8, 76.8, and 40 mg/L, respectively, with 52% and 75% reduction effectiveness. While the initial concentration of COD levels was 326 mg/L, after going through the filtration process with media heating treatment at  50°C and 100°C, the COD levels were reduced to  252 and 198 mg/L, respectively, and the effectiveness of the reduction was 23% and 39%.

Abstract

Clean water is a source of basic needs for all forms of life. Water quality must be ensured before use, and water sources must be monitored regularly. The use of unclean water is one of the causes of skin diseases. Various age groups can be affected by skin diseases, especially the age group of children, who are still vulnerable. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of clean water in the Taha Qur'an Education Park, which was reviewed biologically. This type of research is Descriptive Qualitative. The population in this study were all the water taps in the Taha Qur'an Education Park. The selection of all samples as a population was due to the fact that there were only two water taps at the Taha Quranic Education Park. Based on the results of biological quality tests, including Coliform tests and Escherichia Coli tests obtained in water, it is known that the results of the coliform test obtained in sample A were 10 MPN / 100ml and in sample B 168MPN / 100 ml, and the results of Escherichia Coli in sample A were 15,000 MPN / 100ml and in Sample B 5,000 MPN / 100ml. The water used by the students is still considered unfit for consumption due to the presence of coliform and Escherichia coli bacteria, which can cause disease in humans. Treatment is needed to reduce the bacterial content in the sanitation facilities at the Taha Quranic Education Park.
