Abstract

A factor that can influence the success of learning process is the use of learning media. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the user experience of multimedia using the program of Auto play media studio for Teacher Professional Education (PPG). The research problem is how the teachers use multimedia in learning and how the teachers develop the multimedia by themselves using the computer technology program of media studio auto play. The research method is the user experience (UX) using the instrument from User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) of Indonesian version, because there are several language versions of the questionnaire built and validated (for example, English, Spanish, Portuguese, etc.) These versions are available for free and online at www.ueq-online.org. The research result from the test of UEQ is that there are five scales which are categorized as excellent; they are Attractiveness, Efficiency, Dependability, Stimulation and Novelty, whereas the scale of Perspicuity is categorized of Above Average according to the interval benchmark of UEQ. All scores are above 0,08 shows that the evaluation of UX is positive. It can be concluded that the multimedia learning using the program of  is very good – satisfying to use for the Teacher Professional Education for Islamic Education subject (PAI).

Abstract

There are some language skills, one of them is writing which has the steps of learning a foreign language. Writing skill has the most difficult skill. The use of instructional media has functions to facilitate teaching and learning activities, especially in Arabic learning of Imla’ material. The flashcard is used as a medium to facilitate teaching and learning activities of Imla’ for non-Arabic students. This research aimed to describe learning of Imla’ on Arabic writing skill and describe learning implementation of Imla’ on Arabic through flashcard at the level of elementary school at Elementary School level in Samarinda. The researcher used research design of qualitative descriptive by using the research instruments of observation, interview, and documentation. The research result obtained through the data sources from the principal, vice principal of curriculum, Arabic teachers and students. To analyze the data, the researcher used Miles and Huberman’s theory through three steps of data reduction, data display, and verification. The research results were that Arabic learning based on the writing skill on the elementary level included in category of Imla’ manqul which is aimed for students to be able to recognize, know, and rewrite letters of Hijaiyah by the rules of writing and letters written separated or connected with other letters. The students were also able to recognize the meaning of what they wrote through flashcard. The use of flashcard was helpful in the Arabic teaching process, because the students were easier in understanding the meaning of each vocabulary they wrote. The students did not feel saturated in teaching and learning proses, because flashcard can be used by the students as a form of game which they usually play such as picture card. Therefore, the Arabic writing skill on the elementary level will be easier to be learnt by the students.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out the implementation of multiculturalism of the Islamic values and how to develop the multiculturalism of the Islamic values at SMA 5 Samarinda. The result of data findings shows that the implementation of multiculturalism of the Islamic values at SMA 5 Samarinda covers some following sectors, they are: 1) the implementation of asma’ul husna values, 2) love other moslems, 3) strong attitude, 4) never give up, 5) religious values action, 6) appreciating others, 7) caring, 8) sharing to others, 9) democratic, 10) khalifah concept, and 11) tolerance to other religion. In terms of how to develop of the multiculturalism of the Islamic values at SMA 5 Samarinda, it was found that the result of mean score of the questionnaire was 2.86 or it is categorized “Very Good”. To sum up, the development of the multiculturalism of the Islamic values at SMA 5 Samarinda can be categorized as a Very Good.

Abstract

The learning process of students with special needs requires a model that adapts to the specificity of students. Therefore, the learning of students with special needs must be formulated by choosing the right model, so that the delivery of subject matter is well understood. So that education for students with special needs is met the same as students in general. This research was conducted to determine the learning model of students with special needs inclusive elementary schools in Gresik district, namely SDN 263 Gresik and SDN 13 Gresik. Data collection was carried out using interviews, observation, and documentation. There are seven primary data sources, including the head of the Gresik district resource center, the principal, the teacher in charge of the inclusion program, and the special companion teacher (GPK). The research was conducted for nine months, from July 2019 to April 2020. Qualitative was chosen as the research analyzer. The results of the study found that the use of the ABK learning model in the two schools is; a) Individual learning model, b) Pull out learning model or learning model in regular classes, c) Team teaching-learning model, d) Learning Model in the resource room, e) Modification of the learning curriculum.

Abstract

The research aims to evaluate English Department by using model of Countenance Stake on the components of context, input, process, and product. The research is an evaluation research. The research done in four universities, they are IAIN Samarinda, ABA Colorado Balikpapan, Universitas Kutai Kartanegara and Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur. The data is collected by observation, interview, and documentation, and then analyzed in a qualitative descriptive way. The result of the research on the aspect of Antecedents shows that English Department is not yet in line with the institution’s stand, that is the department’s vision, mission and goals that have been compiled; Transaction, in the evaluation of input, the factors that affect the learning process, such as learning media, they are syllabus, SAP, test, and strategy in learning made by the lecturer of the English Department is good and the outcome of product includes the students learning outcome in one semester is good which is in accordance with the achievement that the department wants to achieve.

Abstract

Translation is one of the best skills that can help us to understand the word, phrase, clause, and sentence in a text or context, to understand the message what the speaker said and especially to communicate each other. This research was conducted based on the research background that is many students got confuse or difficulties to translate sentence. It makes them often fail to understand the meaning of the sentence. The objectives of this research are to know the accuracy, clarity, naturalness, and mechanic of the students’ English translation of Islamic short stories by the sixth semester of English Education Department at IAIN Samarinda in academic year 2019/2020 and to know the quality of the students’ English Translation of Islamic short stories by the sixth semester of English Education Department at IAIN Samarinda in academic year 2019/2020. This research used descriptive quantitative research. The main instrument was the translation text. The subject of the research was the sixth semester students of English Education Department, IAIN Samarinda which consist of 30 students. The collected data were analyzed by using statistic calculation of Mean. The result of this research showed the students’ translating English into Indonesian based on each aspect as follows: first, the result of all the accuracy’s score were 22 (good to average), second, the result of all the clarity’s score was 20 (fair to poor), third, the result of all the naturalness’s score was 16 (very poor), and last, the result of all the mechanic’s score was 12 (very poor). Based on the result of this thesis, that the Mean score is 69,43. The researcher concludes that the class quality in translating English Islamic short stories is the category “Fair” quality.

Abstract

Writing skill is one of the abilities that students must be mastered. By writing, students can express ideas, opinions, and feelings. Based on the junior high school curriculum, several basic competencies students must achieve in writing English texts. The competencies to help students develop their skills and produce simple, functional written texts. Descriptive text is a basic competency that is difficult for students to learn. This is because students need help to pour writing ideas into a text. This research aimed to find out the problems of students in writing descriptive texts faced by seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Samarinda. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The researcher only took 2 classes out of a total of 9 classes, namely 7A and 7E, with a total of 69 students as subjects. The researcher used several instruments to collect the data: writing tests, questionnaires, and teacher interviews. The results of this research indicate that students need help writing descriptive texts in content, organization, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics. However, from the results obtained, students’ most significant problem in writing is a mechanical, organization, and vocabulary. From the results of the writing test, the average score of students was 47%, with scores of contents (141), organization (126), grammar (131), vocabulary (130), and mechanics (122). The questionnaire result showed that students who support this problem experience difficulties in mechanics, organization, and vocabulary, with a total score of 54.8%.

Abstract

Writing plays an important role in language acquisition, promoting the students’ experiment to communicate their ideas and strengthen the language ability that they learn in class. However, the researcher found that students had low ability in writing. The research objectives were: (1) To describe the implementation of brainwriting strategy can improve students’ ability in writing recount text. (2) To identify the improvement of students’ ability in writing recount text by using brainwriting strategy. This research used a classroom action research design that conducts in two cycles. The research subject was X IPA 1 grade SMAN 1 Sangatta Selatan students. These research findings showed that: (1) The implementation of the brainwriting strategy where the students divide into some groups that consist of 6 or more participants, then every student write three ideas on the paper until 5 minutes the paper passed to the right person, just like that until all of the participants have got the paper. (2) The improvement of students’ ability to write recount text using brainwriting strategy could be seen from the comparison calculation between the total average cycle I and cycle II scores. The implementation of brainwriting strategy can improve the students’ ability to write recount text.

Abstract

Banyak kalangan mensejajarkan berpikir HOTS atau berpikir tingkat tinggi dengan sesuatu yang rumit, sulit, dan menyusahkan. Hal ini misalnya kita dapatkan saat guru di kelas akan mengaplikasikan soal berbasis HOTS dalam proses pembelajaran maupun penilaian atau assesmen, maka peserta didik akan langsung berpikir bahwa soal yang akan dikerjakan dalam penilaian atau assesmen merupakan soal yang sulit untuk dijawab dan diselesaikan. Inilah yang menjadi tanggungjawab bukan hanya guru, akan tetapi seluruh komponen dan stakeholder dalam dunia pendidikan, untuk merubah paradigma peserta didik maupun guru terhadap pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skill. Pembelajaran yang berbasis HOTS menitikberatkan siswa untuk tidak hanya bersandar pada proses menghafal materi pelajaran tetapi lebih kepada pendekatan dan pemahaman kontekstual dan aplikatif dalam kehidupan sehari-hari siswa itu sendiri. Peran guru di dalam kelas juga menjadi sangat penting untuk menstimulan dan memberi motivasi kepada siswa untuk berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif yaitu jenis penelitian yang berusaha mendeskripsikan secara kualitatif dan membahas dengan dalam dan bersifat holistik terkait dengan implementasi pembelajaran bahasa asing berbasis HOTS di Madrasah Kalimantan Timur dan apa saja kendala dalam proses implementasi pembelajaran bahasa berbasis HOTS di Madrasah Kalimantan Timur. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi dan wawancara. Data yang didapatkan kemudian dianalisis dengan tahapan; (1) kondensasi data, (2) display data, (3) conclusing drawing. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Perencanaan pembelajaran Bahasa inggris pada kategori baik, dengan nilai 83,67, dan pada pembelajaran Bahasa Arab di kategorikan baik dengan nilai 83,63, (2) Evaluasi pembelajaran berbasis HOTS pada mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris pada kategori baik dengan nilai 82,98 dan Bahasa Arab dikategorikan baik dengan nilai 83,10. Adapun faktor pendukung dalam implementasi pembelajaran bahasa asing berbasis HOTS adalah; (1) sarana dan prasarana yang cukup, (2) persepsi positif guru terhadap implementasi pembelajaran bahasa asing berbasis HOTS, (3) dukungan dan komitmen Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi Kalimantan Timur, (4) karakteristik siswa yang cenderung aktif, dan (5) kualifikasi pendidikan guru yang memadai. Adapun faktor yang menjadi penghambat adalah: (1) kurangnya pemahaman guru tentang cara merumuskan indikator, (2) sekolah masih pada tahapan perubahan kurikulum dari kurikulum K13 menuju Kurikulum MBKM, (3) pemahaman guru tentang konsep dan penerapan, (4) minimnya pelatihan dan pendampingan tentang HOTS, dan (5) pendampingan yang sifatnya aplikatif dan praktik masih kurang.

Abstract

Kesulitan dalam pengucapan (Pronunciation) menjadi salah satu tantangan utama bagi siswa di MTs Negeri 3 Paser dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Hambatan ini dipengaruhi oleh kurangnya metode pengajaran yang interaktif dan sumber belajar yang memadai, sehingga siswa merasa kurang percaya diri dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris. Program Peningkatan Kemampuan Pronunciation Siswa melalui Metode Interaktif bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dengan pendekatan berbasis task-based learning dan communicative language teaching. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR). Hasil program menunjukkan bahwa siswa MTs Negeri 3 Paser mengalami peningkatan dalam Pronunciation. Hal ini terlihat dari peningkatan skor rata-rata post-test yang mencapai 77, sementara skor pre-testnya sebelumnya hanya 62. Selain itu, setelah mengikuti program ini, siswa menjadi lebih percaya diri dalam berbicara Bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan dari hasil evaluasi menunjukan bahwa program ini memberikan wawasan baru bagi guru tentang pentingnya pembelajaran Pronunciation yang berbasis praktik dan kolaboratif. Keberlanjutan program ini dapat ditingkatkan dengan integrasi pendekatan individual dan pemanfaatan teknologi lebih lanjut untuk mendukung pembelajaran mandiri siswa
