Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an urgent need for pharmaceuticals and medical devices used for testing, treatment, and prevention. The policy of issuing an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for COVID-19 handling products is carried out to fulfill these needs. This study aims to describe and analyze how the EUA mechanism can be used as resilience during the pandemic. The study used Pubmed and ScienceDirect databases to search all articles using inclusion and exclusion criteria. The inclusion criteria were articles in English and Indonesian, national and international research articles covering the application of the EUA, searches limited to the last 3 years, and articles not limited to one study design. The exclusion criteria were articles not available in full text and topics unrelated to EUA in pharmaceuticals and medical devices. A total of 1,009 articles were identified using the keywords “Emergency Use Authorization”, “drug or medical device”, “COVID-19”. Finally, 11 articles that met the criteria were analyzed. The EUA approval for pharmaceuticals and medical devices is a form of resilience in the face of a pandemic and is an effective way to meet increasing needs while looking at clinical evidence and evidence of use in the field. The ability and experience in implementing the EUA can be a guide for learning in dealing with pandemics in the future.

Abstract

Social media has become a strategic platform in healthcare communication, including for education and institutional branding. This study aims to explore the use of Instagram by Aysha Islamic Hospital as a medium for health education and strengthening the image of the institution. The approach of this research is qualitative descriptive with a case study method. Data was obtained through observation of @rsislamaysha's official Instagram account, interviews with the digital marketing team, and digital documentation. The results showed that Instagram was actively used to deliver educational content, service promotions, patient testimonials, and hospital social activities. Visual communication strategies, integration of Islamic values, and two-way interaction are the main strengths in building relationships with audiences. However, the main challenge faced is that the quantitative content effectiveness evaluation system is not optimal. Findings support the critical role of social media that social media has an important role in increasing public health literacy and strengthening the branding of health care institutions.

Abstract

Hospitals as labour-intensive and capital-intensive organizations, as well as providing medical and non-medical services require management to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of resources. However, this management must still pay attention to the quality of health services according to service standards and provide benefits for patients. Through Lean Management, continuous improvement can be made by eliminating waste, increasing added value, especially for patients. This is so that the hospital can be the choice of patients to entrust their health. This research is to determine efforts to improve the quality of hospital services using the lean management method. In collecting and synthesizing previous information, this study uses a systematic library research search approach using the PRISMA method. Searches were performed on the Google Scholar and PubMed databases. Articles are limited from 2018-2023, in hospital services and using the Lean Management method. Based on the search results found 1202 articles with 8 copies. From the results of the screening of articles over the last 5 years, 48 ??research titles and abstracts were obtained, then a screening was carried out on the completeness of the selected articles and studies that carried out the process of improving service quality from the results of the Lean Management approach. Efforts to improve quality using the Lean Management method are focused on increasing Value Added activities by reducing Non Value Added activities. Lean Management is considered effective in efforts to improve quality by maximizing existing resources. Through a number of studies obtained, hospitals that implement Lean Management benefit by identifying sources of waste. So that it can be input for the Hospital to focus on efforts to improve these units by reducing waste and increasing VAR (Value Added Ratio), so as to create quality services that meet patient expectations.
