Abstract

A generator is the main component in a power generation system. The generator needs a protection system to avoid internal or external faults. The protection relay on a 20 MW capacity generator in PLTG PT Riau Power was used in this case study. Furthermore, a Reverse Power Relay (RPR) model was designed and simulated using software Matlab/Simulink. In this simulation, setting the RPR results in several outputs, such as active power, voltage, current, and the delay time of the relay. The simulation results show that the reverse power obtained is -612 kW or 3% and the time delay of the relay is 0,2 second. Meanwhile, the standard of the maximum reverse power is -12.66 MW or 50% and the time delay is 30 second. Thus, there are some differences, i.e., the setting is 6% for the reverse power and 0,6% for the time delay. However, these differences show that setting the RPR still meet standard IEEE C37.102-2006. In this study, re-setting the RPR is proposed by speeding up the time delay between 50% and 95%.Keywords : generator, protection, reverse power relay, delay time

Abstract

Stroke is a neurological emergency, the morbidity rate is increasing from year to year. According to the World Health Organization, 15 million people suffer a stroke worldwide every year. Patients with post-stroke disabilities will have difficulty in carrying out daily activities, especially in communicating with other people. Therefore, a post-stroke patient communication tool was made with a temperature sensor that aims to make it easier for post-stroke patients to be able to communicate for a better quality of life. This communication aid is in the form of gloves which are paired with 5 Flex Sensors as movement signal readers which will then be processed by Arduino Nano, this tool is also equipped with a DS18B20 temperature sensor and a pulse sensor that will monitor the physical condition of post-stroke patients in real time, output data in the form of characters and sounds, for characters will be displayed by the LCD and for sound will be played using a speaker where voice data will be called up by the mini DFPlayer module. Abstract

This research has proposed a wide area measurement method used for the fault diagnosis of a short circuit in the electric power transmission system that combining the functions of a phasor measurement device. Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) is a technology that makes Electric Power Systems has synchronous phasor measurement devices that are continuously updated of real-time. The PMU provides a measurement of the current phasor value and voltage phasor value to the control centere. Therefore, in this study measurement method model is designed to measure the wide area to using PMU on the IEEE 9-Bus System by Matlab/Simulink R2016a. The short circuit simulation is operated with variation of location each transmission line in the IEEE 9-Bus System. The results of wide area measurement method using PMU produce a diagnosis of fault. The achieved results by determining the fault location point through diagnosis of fault location with calculation highest percentage error is 0,481208%.Keywords: fault diagnosis, PMU, short circuit, transmission line, wide area.

Abstract

This research develops and implements a method for calculating lighting systems for classrooms at Khairul Ummah Islamic Boarding School. The lumen method is one of the methods used to determine the number of luminaires needed to improve lighting quality according to the SNI 6197: 2011 standard. The number of luminaires obtained in this study was included in the simulation for DIALux evo 8.1 software. The results obtained from this study show that the lighting in the classrooms at MTs and MA Khairul Ummah Islamic Boarding School has not reached the recommended standard for classrooms, where the direct measurement results of the average lighting level of class IX-E is 10.79 lux, while in the class X IPA 3 is 11.66 lux. To improve this condition, class IX-E requires the number of luminaires of 15 points and class X IPA 3 requires a luminaire of 12 points. The difference in results obtained from mathematical calculations using the lumen method and the simulation results of DIALux software for class IX-E is 15.6% and in class X IPA 3 is 3.4%. The value of investment costs is necessary in order to make improvements to the lighting system in these two schools which are worth Rp. 2,700,000.00 to provide 27 Philips LED bulb 27 watt lamps.Keywords: Classroom, DIALux evo 8.1, Investmen Cost, Lighting, Lumen Method

Abstract

Lightning protection systems are indispensable for buildings that have very vital functions, such as schools. The three-storey building of inayah Islamic school is a place of teaching and learning process that has an area (p x l x t) 39 m x 24 m x 11.2 m. To protect the building from direct and indirect lightning strikes, an external lightning rod is required. This design uses The Volume Collection Method and Rolling Ball Method which is tailored to puipp requirement standards. The calculation result using a collection volume method with angle 0 and peak current of 60 kA obtained a strike distance value of 118,903 m, protection radius value of 70,152 m, collection volume of 1106685,131 m3 and protection angle of 80.39. For the Ball rolling method, the determination of the value of the radius of the ball was determined using the researchers' equations Wagner, Brown &Whitehead, and Anderson & IEEE 1985. The down conductor value is obtained for the Collection Volume method of 7,027 m2 and the Rolling Ball method of 11.71 m2. The earthing systems of both methods both produce 4,098 ohm prisoners for the use of one electrode and 3,321 ohms for the use of two electrodes. Abstract

An electric power system must have reliable and continuously supply the need for electrical energy. One of methods to support reliability is a protection system that can handle the fault. Fault on the distribution network is short circuit fault, if it not removed immediately it will damage the equipment in its path. Protection relays commonly used on distribution networks to protect the system from short circuit fault are Over Current Relay (OCR) and Ground Fault Relay (GFR) to maintain and improve the distribution networks protection system it is necessary to evaluate the coordination of the installed relay. The protection relay coordination is when short circuit fault appear in the system , the closest relay point to the fault point will work and gives a signal to trip the circuit breaker When a short circuit fault occurs, the relay closest to the fault point will work first and if the fault current value exceeds the adjustment of the backup relay behind it, the backup relay will trip after the main relay trip. When checked, time grading on the installed conditions does not meet the IEC 60255 standard, which is 0.4-0.5 seconds. So, the adjustment is done and the time grading between OCR is obtained according to IEC 60255 standard, which is 0.402 seconds. While the GFR in the installed condition also does not meet with the IEC 60255 standard so the adjustment is performed and the evaluation time between the GFR in accordance with the IEC 60255 standard is 0.492 seconds. Abstract

This paper presents photovoltaic system as a stand-alone electric power plant in the renewable energy development.  To maximize these stand-alone generators, it is necessary to design photovoltaic modeling to produce energy and maximum power.  The problems that exist in the design of PV systems are PV configuration, battery size, and the maximum power system. Therefore, this research will be proposed modeling Matlab/Simulink based PV system. The contribution of this research can provide various characteristics of the photovoltaic system with a capacity of 100 Wp.  This modeling is designed using Matlab/Simulink software.  The data generated from this simulation will provide a good reference for designing the stand-alone generators in the future.

Abstract

A power transformer is an electrical machine that converts electrical power at different voltage levels. Faults, occur in power transformers, inhibit electrical power distribution to the consumer. Protection, therefore, of the power transformers is essential in power systems reliability. The power system can be reliable if the protection devices work well when there is a fault. A hybrid intelligent technique, which is a combination of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Fuzzy known as Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS), was used in this research. The objective of this paper is the simulation of differential relays as a protection device on power transformers using Matlab/Simulink. Performance of differential relays for power transformers protection is carried out with internal and external fault scenarios. The input data were classified into three different input for ANFIS such as internal and external 1, internal and external 2, internal, external 1, and external 2, respectively. The error results of ANFIS training for the type of fault internal and external 1 is 9.46*10-7, and types of fault internal and external 2 is 1.09*10-6 internal, external 1 and external 2 are 8.59*10-7. The results obtained from the simulation were accurate and shows that the ANFIS technique is an efficient method that gives less error and a great value. Finally, the technique can minimize faults with power transformers. Finally, to prove this method can reduce faults in the power transformer, the assess of this model has been carried out through the RMSE that has been generated which is zero.

Abstract

Sistem daya listrik terdiri dari pembangkitan, sistem transmisi, sistem distribusi, sistem proteksi dan beban. Sistem transmisi merupakan elemen yang digunakan sebagai objek simulasi ketika terjadi gangguan di saluran transmisi. Sedangkan, untuk sistem proteksi menggunakan pengontrolan secara digital untuk mengatasi kesalahan pada perhitungan setting impedansi rele jarak.  Pada sistem transmisi saat terjadi gangguan dengan mendapatkan informasi rele jarak dan Circuit Breaker (CB) yang akan digunakan sebagai data untuk menjalankan teknik cerdas. Oleh karena itu, dalam artikel ini akan diusulkan satu metode teknik cerdas yang merupakan model komputasi. Teknik cerdas yang akan digunakan ini adalah teknik Jaringan Syaraf Tiruan (JST) berbasiskan  Back Propagation (BP). Pelatihan JST-BP ini akan dijalankan proses pelatihan untuk memecahkan permasalahan identifikasi lokasi gangguan di sistem transmisi daya listrik.  Hasil keluaran yang diharapkan memberikan koreksi galat yang kecil dan akan lebih mendekati nilai yang baik. Dan akhirnya, dengan teknik JST-BP ini diharapkan dapat mengidentifikasi lokasi gangguan secara tepat dan benar.

Abstract

This study is intended to design a system connected to the Distributed Generation (DG) sourced from solar cells, using Matlab/Simulink. A Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) is installed in the DG system to monitor the phasor voltage and current. Furthermore, the system comprises four buses with two 20 kV load voltages, two amplifying transformers, and four transmission lines. The DG's role is to keep the power supply to the load stable and improve power efficiency by reducing power losses on the network. However, in this network, the DG increases the current on each bus. Thus, affecting voltage increase on each bus, consequently increasing the stress experienced by both loads. The DG-connected system simulation on PMU-3 & PMU-4 has a minute error value of 0.02% and is slightly higher than the unconnected simulation. This comparison also shows the positive sequence values of the phasor currents as well as phasor voltages before and after the DG connection. The DG system connected to the PMU has monitored voltage and current for PLN and DG systems based on the simulation results. Therefore, installing the DG can increase the line voltage, especially on the load.
