Abstract

Loading between phases must always be considered in order to reduce the imbalance, which results in an increase in neutral current and loss of conductor power. Non-linear loads can cause harmonics that affect the increase in copper losses in the transformer. Harmonics can cause distortion of the voltage and current waveforms, so attention must be paid to the specified limits so as not to interfere with the performance of electrical equipment. In addition, these parameters can affect the main electrical parameters, so they must be considered at the specified limits. This study aims to analyze the condition of load imbalance, harmonic content, and the effect on power loss in distribution transformers at Universitas Bangka Belitung. Parameters were measured using a Meterel Power Meter Analyzer type MI 2592 Power Q4 for ten days with the comparative method as a data analysis method. The average current unbalanced percentage is 9.91%, with the highest value at 24.31%. Energy due to power loss in the neutral conductor is 0.46 kWh/10 days, and the total conductor loss is 18.122 kWh/10 days.

Abstract

Kata kunci: sistem tenaga listrik, FACTS, kompensator seri, tiristor, TCSC ABSTRACTIn order to ensure that the expanding requirements of the community are met and that the system's level of dependability is sufficient, it is crucial to manage and maintain a reliable power distribution system. Due to the extensive transmission distance, it is impossible to prevent installation malfunctions in the electric power system. This has a significant impact on the transmission of electric power, resulting in a voltage decrease and a loss of electrical energy. Using a Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) is one way to reduce voltage instability and improve the dependability of the electrical power grid. A FACTS device is the Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC). The power capacity of the transmission line is increased by adding the TCSC in series with the transmission line. In order to increase power flow, the TCSC's reactance can be adjusted to modulate the transmission line's reactance. Keywords: electrical power system, FACTS, series compensators, thyristors, TCSC

Abstract

Reliable and sustainable electrical distribution systems require effective protection measures against internal and external disturbances, especially short-circuit disturbances, to avoid damage to the equipment. Overcurrent relays (OCR) and ground fault relays (GFR) play an important role in the safety of the distribution network. To improve performance, evaluation of relay coordination is essential. During the short circuit, the nearest relay to the fault point is activated first and the backup relay is activated if the fault current exceeds the adjustment of the main relay. Coordination ensures that timely signaling is sent to interrupt the circuit. Inspection of the OCR relay revealed that it did not comply with the IEC 60255 standard and consequently adjusted the classification time to 0.402 seconds. Similarly, the results of the GFR relay inspection did not meet the standards and required an adjustment of the evaluation time to 0.492 seconds. Resolving these deviations is crucial to maintaining the reliability and compliance of the distribution network with industry standards, ensuring that the protection relays respond quickly and effectively to disturbances, thereby preventing possible damage to equipment
