Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the influence of implementing the guided inquiry learning model accompanied by multi-representation-based LKPD on substance stress material on the learning activities and HOTS of class VIII junior high school students. This research used a sample of class VIII A as the experimental class and class VIII B as the control class. Data collection techniques include pre-test and post-test written tests, LKPD, observation, interviews and documentation. The results of data analysis using the HOTS independent sample t-test and learning activities show a sig. 2 (tailed) < 0.05, which means that the experimental class score is higher than the control class. So it can be concluded that learning using the guided inquiry learning model accompanied by multi-representation based LKPD has a significant effect on the activities and HOTS of junior high school students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana pengembangan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) yang memanfaatkan ethnosains dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di jenjang Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode Systematic Literature Review, yang mengikuti langkah-langkah PRISMA dalam proses mencari, memilih, dan menganalisis artikel. Sumber artikel dikumpulkan dari basis data Google Scholar dan SINTA dengan rentang tahun 2021 sampai 2025 agar informasi yang didapat sesuai dengan perkembangan pembelajaran IPA terbaru. Ditemukan sebanyak 21 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria dan dianalisis untuk menemukan pola temuan yang komprehensif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LKPD berbasis ethnosains efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis melalui kegiatan belajar yang kontekstual, eksploratif, dan dekat dengan budaya lokal siswa. Penyatuan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal dalam LKPD membantu siswa menghubungkan konsep ilmu pengetahuan dengan fenomena di sekitar mereka, sehingga meningkatkan pemahaman, kemampuan menganalisis, dan semangat belajar. Selain itu, beberapa penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan E-LKPD berbasis ethnosains mampu menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih interaktif dan mendukung kemandirian belajar. Secara keseluruhan, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan ethnosains dalam pembuatan LKPD merupakan strategi yang relevan dan efektif untuk memenuhi tuntutan pendidikan abad ke-21 serta mendukung penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat bagaimana penggunaan virtual reality sebagai alat pengajaran dapat membantu siswa memahami ide-ide yang terkait dengan ilmu pengetahuan alam (IPA). Alat pembelajaran interaktif ini diharapkan akan mengatasi kesulitan dalam menyampaikan pengetahuan abstrak kepada siswa. Virtual Reality memberikan pengalaman pendidikan yang lebih komprehensif dan menarik, yang memungkinkan siswa untuk berpartisipasi lebih aktif. Melalui pendekatan Tinjauan Literatur Sistematis (SLR), 20 publikasi yang diterbitkan antara tahun 2020 dan 2025 dianalisis, dan 10 artikel dipilih untuk pemeriksaan lebih lanjut berdasarkan standar yang telah ditetapkan sebelumnya. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Virtual Reality meningkatkan Pemahaman konseptual, dan keterlibatan belajar siswa. Dengan menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang mendalam, Virtual Reality membantu siswa memahami ide-ide abstrak dengan lebih baik. Kesimpulan ini menunjukkan seberapa baik Virtual Reality dapat dimasukkan ke dalam pembelajaran sains dan menyarankan agar lembaga pendidikan mengadopsi strategi ini.

Abstract

Pendidikan pada abad ke-21 ini menuntut peserta didik memiliki kompetensi yang unggul, khususnya dalam literasi sains, guna menghadapi tantangan global. Namun, hasil dari studi PISA menunjukkan bahwa literasi sains siswa Indonesia masih tergolong rendah. Rendahnya capaian ini disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, salah satunya adalah kurangnya pendekatan pembelajaran yang kontekstual dan relevan dengan kehidupan siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji integrasi kearifan lokal dalam pembelajaran IPA sebagai upaya meningkatkan literasi sains siswa SMP. Metode yang digunakan adalah tinjauan literatur dengan pendekatan meta-analisis terhadap 9 artikel penelitian terakreditasi nasional yang diterbitkan pada tahun 2020–2025. Pemilihan artikel dilakukan secara purposive melalui Google Scholar. Proses analisis data mencakup pengumpulan, reduksi, dan penarikan kesimpulan dari artikel yang relevan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis kearifan lokal dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep ilmiah, literasi sains, dan kepedulian terhadap lingkungan. Integrasi kearifan lokal dinilai efektif karena bersifat kontekstual, relevan dengan pengalaman siswa, dan mampu memperkuat identitas budaya. Dengan demikian, integrasi kearifan lokal dalam pembelajaran IPA berpotensi menjadi strategi inovatif dalam meningkatkan literasi sains siswa di Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstrak Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Suci, Kecamatan Panti, Kabupaten Jember, yang memiliki potensi limbah batok kelapa melimpah namun belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Tujuan program ini adalah memberdayakan masyarakat melalui pelatihan pembuatan briket ramah lingkungan berbahan dasar limbah batok kelapa sebagai alternatif bahan bakar yang hemat, bersih, dan bernilai ekonomis. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi tiga tahapan, yaitu persiapan (perencanaan, pengadaan alat dan bahan, serta pembekalan konsep), pelaksanaan (pengarangan batok, penghalusan arang, pencampuran dengan perekat, pencetakan, dan pengeringan), serta evaluasi (penilaian kualitas briket dan refleksi bersama masyarakat). Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengolah limbah menjadi produk bernilai tambah. Briket yang dihasilkan memiliki karakteristik padat, tahan lama, dan nilai kalor sekitar 4.000–5.000 kalori/kg dengan asap minimal,  sehingga ramah lingkungan. Harga jual briket yang direkomendasikan kepada peserta sebesar Rp20.000/kg. Program ini tidak hanya mengatasi masalah limbah, tetapi juga membuka peluang usaha baru, mengurangi ketergantungan pada LPG dan kayu bakar, serta meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Kata kunci: briket; batok kelapa; pemberdayaan masyarakat; energi alternatif; pengolahan limbah. Abstract This community service activity was carried out in Suci Village, Panti District, Jember Regency, which has abundant coconut shell waste potential but has not been optimally utilized. The goal of this program is to empower the community through training in making environmentally friendly briquettes from coconut shell waste as an alternative fuel that is economical, clean, and economically valuable. The implementation method includes three stages, namely preparation (planning, procurement of tools and materials, and providing a concept), implementation (shell composition, charcoal refinement, mixing with adhesive, molding, and drying), and evaluation (briquette quality assessment and reflection with the community). The results of the activity showed an increase in community understanding and skills in processing waste into value-added products. The resulting briquettes are characterized by being dense, durable, and have a calorific value of around 4,000–5,000 calories/kg with minimal smoke, making them environmentally friendly. This program not only addresses the waste problem, but also opens up new business opportunities, reduces dependence on LPG and firewood, and improves community welfare. Keywords: briquettes; coconut shells; community empowerment; alternative energy; waste processing

Abstract

The 21st century demands individuals to possess adequate scientific literacy to navigate technological advancements and global challenges. Scientific literacy entails understanding scientific concepts and strengthening abilities critical thinking. However, the 2022 PISA results revealed that Indonesian learners’ scientific literacy remains low, with a mean score of 383, below the OECD average. This condition calls for the implementation of effective learning models, among them is Project Based Learning (PjBL). This research seeks to examine the application of PjBL in science learning and how it affects students’ scientific literacy through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Fifteen articles obtained from Google Scholar were analyzed using the keywords “Model Project Based Learning” “Literasi Sains” “Siswa Sekolah” and “Pembalajaran IPA” with the selection process following PRISMA guidelines. The analysis shows that PjBL positively influences the improvement of scientific literacy across educational levels. At the elementary level, PjBL helps students grasp scientific concepts through contextual project activities. In lower secondary school, the integration of digital media such as E-LKPD and liveworksheets enhances students’ scientific reasoning. In upper secondary school, the combination of PjBL with STEM approaches and cultural contexts effectively strengthens higher-order thinking skills. Overall, PjBL is proven to be a relevant model for improving students’ scientific literacy by promoting active, collaborative, and project-oriented learning which fosters the growth of 21st-century skills.

Abstract

Science process skills represent fundamental abilities that must be strengthened in 21st-century education, as they support students in developing scientific ways of thinking, solving problems, and constructing conceptual understanding. Data from the 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) show that Indonesian students achieved a science score of 383, a decline from 396 in 2018, which reflects the limited development of essential scientific skills. This study analyzes the role of the Discovery Learning model in enhancing students’ science process skills at elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels in Indonesia. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review method following PRISMA guidelines. An initial search of Google Scholar using the keywords Discovery Learning, Science Process Skills, and Science identified 4,820 articles. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 28 relevant studies published between 2021 and 2025 were analyzed, consisting of 4 elementary, 12 junior high, and 12 senior high school studies. The findings consistently show that Discovery Learning positively influences science process skills through observing, experimenting, and drawing conclusions based on empirical evidence. Across educational levels, this model supports scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and scientific attitudes. This review contributes to science education by synthesizing evidence on the implementation of Discovery Learning across educational levels, providing a structured reference for educators and researchers to strengthen science process skills instruction. In addition, the findings highlight opportunities for future studies to integrate Discovery Learning with digital technologies and interdisciplinary approaches to further enhance students’ scientific competencies

Abstract

Students’ scientific argumentation skills are not yet optimally developed because classroom learning is still dominated by teacher-centered activities. Students tend to memorize material rather than practice constructing evidence-based arguments. Problem Based Learning (PBL) is considered an effective innovative learning approach as it emphasizes active student involvement in solving real-world problems through group discussions, with the teacher acting as a facilitator. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of PBL in enhancing students’ scientific argumentation skills. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA method was conducted. Articles were searched through Google Scholar using the keywords “Problem Based Learning,” “Scientific Argumentation,” and “Science.” The search yielded 354 articles, which were screened based on publication year (2019–2025), full-text availability, language, and topic relevance. Fifteen articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed descriptively. The results indicate that PBL effectively improves students’ scientific argumentation skills at the elementary, junior, and senior high school levels. The quality of argumentation can be further enhanced by using interactive media, such as PowerPoint, virtual simulations, and student worksheets (LKPD), as well as learning approaches like Socio-Scientific Issues and Flipped Classroom.

Abstract

The present study sought to investigate the strategies employed by an English teacher in teaching reading at a junior high school. Different from previous research, which generally recruited several respondents, this study exclusively focused on a single teacher. This enabled a more detailed exploration of instructional strategies geared to a specific classroom setting. Employing qualitative descriptive design, the research was geared to examine the types of instructional strategies the teacher engaged, how these strategies were put at play, and their effectiveness in promoting students' English reading engagement. Data collection methods included observations and interviews with the teacher. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative analysis method. The findings unveiled that the teacher employed three main strategies for teaching reading: Question Answer Relationship Strategy, Reciprocal Teaching Strategy, and Imitation Strategy. These strategies were critical in enhancing students' comprehension of English texts through collaborative learning in making meaning based on provided texts. The findings underlined the importance of tailored instructional approaches that promote students’ active participation and reading engagement. This research contributes to the discussion on reading instruction by identifying practical strategies that can be adapted and implemented by English teachers to foster students' reading engagement effectively.

Abstract

Kemampuan literasi sains murid Indonesia masih tertinggal jauh di bawah rata-rata global. Salah satu hal yang menyebabkan rendahnya kemampuan literasi sains murid Indonesia adalah minimnya bahan ajar dan aktivitas pembelajaran yang mendorong keterlibatan murid dalam mengasah kemampuan literasi sains secara aktif. Salah satu jenis bahan ajar adalah E-Modul. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh E-Modul terhadap peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains murid, khususnya jenjang SMP/MTS. Jenis penelitian ini adalah studi literatur dengan menggunakan motode narrative systematic review. Hasil studi literatur menunjukkan bahwa E-Modul secara signifikan berkontribusi dalam peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains murid SMP/MTS. Efektivitas tersebut semakin optimal ketika E-Modul diintegrasikan dengan media pembelajaran, pendekatan, dan model pembelajaran yang tepat. Selain itu, kualitas desain E-Modul yang mencakup isi, struktur, interaktivitas, serta keterlibatan guru sebagai fasilitator dalam pembelajaran juga berpengaruh terhadap sejauh mana implementasi E-Modul mendukung peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains murid.
