Abstract

This study aims to design a marketing website for special interest tourism destinations in North Halmahera Regency. The method used is design thinking. The design thinking method has five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. At the empathize stage, the needs of system users are classified based on the characteristics of the user as a host or guest. In the define stage, the problem statement technique is used to define the problems and needs of users into four parts: lack of awareness and exposure, limited digital infrastructure, the limited availability of tourism-related infrastructure, and the lack of tourism-related data. At the ideation stage, the main problem identified related to the marketing of special interest tourist destinations is the lack of tourism-related data, so the idea to solve the problem is through the design of a website that accommodates all information about destinations and events, hotel accommodation services, resorts and cottages, vehicle rental services, and travel experiences to North Halmahera which are shared in the form of articles to short videos. At the prototype stage, the database and interface design are designed according to the analysis results at the empathize, define, and ideate stages. Furthermore, at the testing stage, aspirations about prototypes are carried out through posters and short videos to gain insight into the subsequent development. Thus, marketing special interest tourist destinations becomes more effective and efficient using a website-based digital platform.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the potential and readiness of the Ponggang community to develop tourism villages. Considering the implications of development on the transformation of people's livelihoods have a dual effect in various sectors of the economy, this research is necessary to obtain comprehensive and contextual information. The research method used is qualitatively interpretive through a case study approach in Ponggang Village, Serang Panjang District, Subang, West Java. The data collection techniques are in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. In-depth discussions of key informants are needed to identify stakeholder perceptions. This Research discussed a Ladder of Participation Theory by Arnstein. The findings of this study reveal that the pattern of Ponggang communities’ social interaction is attached to the action of cooperation. It becomes a socio-cultural characteristic that affects the process of infrastructure development. It indicates that social ties strengthen communal norms and foster a sense of belonging to development programs. At the same time, it also triggered a positive response that was expressed in the sincere expression of the community to actively participate in partnership programs with the government and academics institution to develop the potential of natural resources, human resources, and cultural resources as a tourism destination. Based on the form and level of participation stated by Arnstein, the structure of the involvement relevant to the context of the Ponggang community has increased from informing, consultation, and placation to the steps of partnership and delegated power. Thus, there is a potential to achieve the stage of citizen power and become economically independent through tourism development.

Abstract

Travel planning popularized by influencers sparks audiences to review destinations based on image and attractiveness before designing a trip alone, with family, with friends, or as a couple. This research offers ideas to analyze the sentiment of travelers who use hotel accommodation services in Makassar based on Tripadvisor website review data. The method used is the Cross-Industry Standard Procedure for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) with the following stages: business understanding stage, data understanding stage, data preparation stage, modeling stage, evaluation stage, and deployment stage. The results of this study show that the business understanding stage shows the importance of identifying and analyzing tourist behavior related to the assessment of location, cleanliness, service, and hotel value as a strategic step to develop a hotel imaging program to attract tourists with guest characteristics (solo, couple, business, family). The data understanding stage refers to the features processed according to the CRISP-DM method and supporting data for analysis and discussion of the context of Tripadvisor's Top 10 recommended hotels in Makassar. At the data preparation stage, the amount of text data that has been processed using the Decision Tree (DT) algorithm and Support Vector Machine  (SVM) is 1,138 through data pre-processing (tokenize, transform cases, filter tokens by length, stopwords, stemming). At the modeling stage, the algorithm that shows the best performance is SVM, with an accuracy value of 98.98%, a precision value of 100%, a recall value of 97.96%, an f-measure discount of 98.97%, and an AUC value of 100%. At the evaluation stage, it can be seen that the classification of reviews is dominant on positive sentiment compared to negative sentiment. Thus, the recommendation for the deployment stage is optimizing products and services related to room amenities, room features, room type, cleanliness, service, value, and location.
