Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 060912 Medan Denai on the topic of the human digestive organs through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection phases. The research subjects were 29 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and learning achievement tests. The findings showed an improvement in student learning outcomes in each cycle. In the first cycle, the average score was 68.27 with a completeness rate of 68.97%, while in the second cycle, it increased to 74.65 with a completeness rate of 82.76%. Besides score improvement, students also showed increased engagement, motivation, and participation during the learning process. Teachers also reported positive experiences with the PBL model in enhancing the quality of instruction. Therefore, the application of the Problem Based Learning model proved effective in improving student learning outcomes and engagement on the topic of the human digestive organs.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the observation that during the teaching and learning process of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), many students still demonstrate low learning motivation. The use of conventional teaching methods, such as lectures and written assignments, tends to be less effective in attracting students' interest. The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of interactive media in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject for third-grade students at SD Negeri 056034 Alur Cempedak and to determine whether the use of interactive media can improve students' learning motivation in this subject. This study employs a classroom action research design, consisting of two cycles. Each cycle includes four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques used in this study include observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects are third-grade students at SD Negeri 056034 Alur Cempedak. The results of data analysis indicate that the use of interactive media can enhance students' learning motivation in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject. Observation results show an increase in student engagement from the first cycle to the second, with the average score rising from 71.27% (categorized as fair) to 81% (categorized as good). It can be concluded that the use of interactive media can improve the learning motivation of third-grade students in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject at SD Negeri 056034 Alur Cempedak.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of low mathematics learning outcomes on fraction material in class IV of SDN 058119 Pematang Sentang, where only 26.67% of students were able to achieve the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) of 65. The main problem stems from the use of conventional lecture methods which cause students to become passive and have difficulty understanding abstract fraction concepts. The purpose of this study is to improve mathematics learning outcomes through the application of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type cooperative learning model. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with the spiral design of the Kemmis and McTaggart model carried out in two cycles for 15 class IV students. Data collection techniques included learning outcome tests and student activity observations. The results showed a consistent improvement, where classical learning completeness in the pre-cycle was 26.67% (4 students) with an average of 54.67, increased to 60.00% (9 students) with an average of 68.40 in cycle I, and reached a maximum completeness of 100.00% (15 students) with an average of 79.67 in cycle II. Student participation activity also increased significantly from "fair" to "excellent" criteria. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the NHT model effectively transforms the quality of learning by encouraging individual responsibility through a numbering system and group collaboration in the "heads together" phase so that student learning outcomes can improve optimally.
