Abstract

SD Negeri 1 Susukan, located in Cipicung sub-district, Kuningan district, is an elementary school in Cipicung sub-district that still has B accreditation. SD Negeri 1 Susukan is located in Cipicung sub-district which has environmental conditions that are included in remote areas. The access to get there is quite far and the terrain is rather difficult, the road is damaged and has many holes. The background to parents' low understanding of the importance of parenting is the low level of parental education and the lack of parenting activities at SDN 1 Susukan. The importance of parents' understanding is not only about cognitive development (students' mathematical problem solving ability) but also students' psychological well being that needs to be considered by teachers and parents. The solution offered is to conduct workshop activities for parents regarding the importance of the learning process, especially in students' mathematical problem solving ability and workshops for parents regarding the importance of students' psychological well beingin the learning process in elementary school. The implementation method used in this PKM activity includes the method of technology transfer and continuous mentoring from the Implementation Team to partners in stages for 4-5 meetings. The results of this service are an increase in participants' understanding of the importance of psychological well being to facilitate problem solving skills by 0.40 with a moderate category.

Abstract

This research aims to improve students' mathematical problem-solving skills through the use of the Dakon Math teaching aid. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 30 fifth-grade students. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and documentation. The research instruments consisted of observation sheets for teacher and student activities, as well as test questions in the form of story problems that measure problem-solving abilities. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' mathematical problem-solving skills from the pre-action phase to cycles I and II. The average score of students in the pre-action phase was 55.50, with a completeness rate of only 16.66%. After implementing the Dakon Math teaching aid, the average score in cycle I increased to 72.73 with a completeness rate of 56.67%, and in cycle II, it further rose to 79.27 with a completeness rate of 83.33%. These results demonstrate that the use of the Dakon Math teaching aid effectively aids students in understanding the fundamental concept of LCM and enhances their problem-solving abilities. Thus, it can be concluded that the Dakon Math teaching aid can serve as an effective alternative media for improving students’ mathematical problem-solving skills in the LCM topic at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh metode GASING (Gampang, Asyik, dan Menyenangkan) terhadap keterampilan berhitung siswa kelas III pada materi pengurangan di SDN 1 Cilangkap. Latar belakangnya adalah rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam pengurangan serta dominasi metode ceramah yang membuat siswa kurang aktif. Metode GASING dinilai mampu meningkatkan pemahaman melalui pendekatan konkret, abstrak, dan mencongak. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi experimental dan uji Mann-Whitney U. Hasil menunjukkan rata-rata N-Gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,5322 (sedang) dan kontrol 0,1383 (rendah). Nilai Asymp. Sig. 0,017 < 0,05 menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan hasil belajar kedua kelas. Dengan demikian, metode GASING efektif meningkatkan keterampilan berhitung. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penerapan metode GASING dalam pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Kenakalan siswa sekolah dasar dapat mengganggu proses pembelajaran dan pembentukan karakter. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis peran guru dalam menangani kenakalan siswa kelas III di SDN 3 Sukasari Kota Tasikmalaya. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif digunakan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian meliputi satu guru kelas III dan lima siswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kenakalan seperti berkata kasar, mengejek, mencontek, dan membolos dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal (kontrol diri, motivasi) dan eksternal (pola asuh, lingkungan). Guru menerapkan strategi preventif seperti penanaman nilai karakter, serta pendekatan represif berupa pembinaan pribadi dan komunikasi dengan orang tua. Peran guru terbukti penting dalam membentuk perilaku positif siswa. Studi ini merekomendasikan kolaborasi intensif antara guru dan orang tua sebagai langkah efektif dalam pencegahan kenakalan sejak dini.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of difficulties students face and the underlying factors contributing to these challenges in solving stacked multiplication problems. This research is descriptive with a qualitative approach involving six fourth-grade students, selected based on their ability levels (high, medium, low) from test results. Data collection techniques include tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used in this study are data reduction, data display, conclusion, and verification. The research findings indicate that students experience difficulties in aspects of concepts and principles (procedural). Conceptual difficulties include mistakes in calculating multiplication results and retaining numbers, while procedural difficulties are shown by incomplete working steps and inaccuracy in adding retained numbers. The causes of these difficulties include internal factors, such as a low mastery of basic multiplication, understanding of place value concepts, and the procedure for column multiplication, as well as external factors in the form of teaching methods from teachers that are not yet fully effective. Students' difficulties in solving multi-step multiplication problems are caused by a weak understanding of concepts and systematic working procedures, hence a more concrete and repetitive learning approach is needed. Strategies that can be applied to minimize students' difficulties include the use of the finger math method, Dienes block manipulatives, as well as providing regular and gradual exercise problems.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low cognitive achievement of students in mathematics, particularly in division, with 61.90% of students not meeting the Minimum Mastery Criteria. The study aims to improve the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students in understanding whole number division through the use of a concrete teaching medium, the counting box. This classroom action research was carried out in two cycles at SD Negeri Mangkubumi, Tasikmalaya, involving 21 students. Data were collected through observations and written tests. The research followed the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The results showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 65.71 in the pre-cycle to 88.81 in the first cycle and 93.10 in the second cycle. The use of the counting box media enhanced students’ understanding through concrete and visual learning experiences, which led to greater engagement and improved mastery of concepts. These findings indicate that concrete media such as the counting box can be effectively used in primary mathematics instruction to support students’ achievement in basic arithmetic operations.

Abstract

Student learning activity is one of the important indicators in assessing the effectiveness of the learning process, especially in subjects that require understanding of concepts such as mathematics. This study aims to analyze the level of learning activity of grade V students in Mathematics subjects at SDN Cintajaya and identify the factors that influence it. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that student learning activeness was in the moderately active category, but varied between individuals. Some students showed full involvement in learning activities, such as paying attention to the teacher's explanation, asking questions, discussing, and solving problems. Moderately active students tend to depend on teacher direction and are not yet fully independent, while less active students appear passive and face barriers in understanding and motivation. Factors that influence learning activeness include internal factors (motivation, interest, confidence, and understanding of the material), external factors (family support, the role of the teacher, and the classroom atmosphere), and the learning approach used. In conclusion, student learning activeness is the result of interactions between various interrelated factors, so it requires an active role of the teacher and the support of a conducive learning environment to increase student participation optimally. ABSTRAKKeaktifan belajar siswa meupakan salah satu indikator penting dalam menilai efektivitas proses pembelajaran, khususnya pada mata pelajaran yang menuntut pemahaman konsep seperti Matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat keaktifan belajar siswa kelas V pada mata pelajaran Matematika di SDN Cintajaya serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keaktifan belajar siswa berada pada kategori cukup aktif, namun bervariasi antar individu. Beberapa siswa menunjukkan keterlibatan penuh dalam aktivitas pembelajaran, seperti memperhatikan penjelasan guru, bertanya, berdiskusi, serta memecahkan soal. Siswa yang cukup aktif cenderung bergantung pada arahan guru dan belum sepenuhnya mandiri, sementara siswa yang kurang aktif tampak pasif dan menghadapi hambatan dalam pemahaman dan motivasi. Faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi keaktifan belajar meliputi faktor internal (motivasi, minat, kepercayaan diri, dan pemahaman materi), faktor eksternal (dukungan keluarga, peran guru, dan suasana kelas), serta pendekatan pembelajaran yang digunakan. Kesimpulannya, keaktifan belajar siswa merupakan hasil interaksi antara berbagai faktor yang saling berkaitan, sehingga diperlukan peran aktif guru dan dukungan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif untuk meningkatkan partisipasi siswa secara optimal.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of a problem-based learning (PBL) approach on statistical literacy in mathematics education, taking into account students' initial mathematical ability. The study used a pre-experimental research design with students categorized according to their initial mathematical ability (high, medium and low). The statistical literacy test scores of 60 students were analyzed using one-way ANOVA to assess differences between the groups. The results showed that students' initial mathematical ability significantly influenced their level of statistical literacy. The constructivism-based PBL approach shows potential for improving mathematical literacy, especially for students with low and medium initial mathematical ability. However, too much focus on constructivism theory and a lack of proper lesson planning may hinder the effectiveness of PBL implementation.

Abstract

This study investigated students' understanding of the concept through a pre-test and a post-test. Analysis of the pre-test showed that the initial abilities of students in the experimental and control groups were comparable, allowing for a fair comparison. Variations in students' ability to solve mathematical problems were investigated through post-test and N-gain data using different learning approaches. Two main hypotheses were proposed in this study: firstly, the experimental group would show a higher level of conceptual understanding than the control group; secondly, there would be a significant difference in improving students' conceptual understanding at different levels of ability. The analysis showed that the experimental group had a significantly higher level of conceptual understanding than the control group, which supported the first hypothesis. This finding indicates that the intervention positively affects students' conceptual understanding. In addition, the analysis results also showed a significant difference in the improvement of students' conceptual understanding with different proficiency levels, which supports the second hypothesis. These findings highlight the importance of learning approaches tailored to student's needs and abilities. This study provides strong evidence that specific mathematics learning models and initial mathematics ability contribute to improving students' conceptual understanding. These findings highlight the importance of tailored learning approaches to maximize students' mathematical concept understanding. The findings have valuable implications for educators and curriculum developers to develop more effective teaching strategies according to students' needs.
