Abstract

Digital transformation has changed the landscape of the global manufacturing industry, including in Indonesia. This study analyzes the optimization of automation technology as a strategy to improve the competitiveness of Indonesia's manufacturing industry in the digital economy era. Using literature review and descriptive analysis methods on secondary data from various sources, this study explores the implementation of automation technology in Indonesia's manufacturing sector, the challenges faced, and its impact on productivity and global competitiveness. The results show that the adoption of automation technology in Indonesia will reach 35 percent for large manufacturing companies in 2024, with the manufacturing industry sector growing by 5.68 percent in the second quarter of 2025.The Making Indonesia 4.0 program is a strategic foundation with a target contribution of Industry 4.0 to the Gross Domestic Product of US$133 billion by 2025. Internet of Things technology, artificial intelligence, and robotics are the main pillars of this transformation. Despite challenges such as limited investment and availability of skilled human resources, the potential for increased operational efficiency, reduced production costs, and improved product quality are the main drivers for automation adoption. This study recommends strengthening collaboration between the government, industry, and academia to accelerate the digital transformation of Indonesia's manufacturing industry.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of restorative justice in the resolution of general criminal offenses at Polres Barru within the framework of criminal law enforcement in Indonesia. The research employs a normative legal research method, focusing on the analysis of statutory regulations, legal principles, and doctrinal perspectives, particularly Law Number 2 of 2002 on the Indonesian National Police, Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code, and Regulation of the Chief of Police Number 8 of 2021 concerning the handling of criminal cases based on restorative justice. The study applies statute and social approaches to assess the consistency and effectiveness of restorative justice implementation at the investigative level. The findings indicate that restorative justice has contributed to improved legal effectiveness by promoting victim recovery, offender responsibility, and social reconciliation, while also enhancing procedural efficiency. However, its implementation faces challenges related to regulatory clarity, law enforcement discretion, and uniformity of application. This study concludes that strengthening normative guidelines and institutional capacity is essential to ensure the sustainable and equitable application of restorative justice in criminal law enforcement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the legal protection provided to victims of sexual violence in human trafficking crimes (Tindak Pidana Perdagangan Orang or TPPO) within the Indonesian legal framework. Sexual violence as a form of exploitation in human trafficking represents a severe violation of human rights that undermines the dignity and safety of its victims. Using a normative juridical approach, this research focuses on the examination of legal instruments, including Law No. 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Human Trafficking, Law No. 12 of 2022 on the Crime of Sexual Violence, and related provisions in the Criminal Code (KUHP). The study highlights that legal protection for victims of sexual exploitation under TPPO encompasses preventive, repressive, and rehabilitative measures. However, implementation remains constrained by weak law enforcement, lack of coordination among institutions, and inadequate victim recovery mechanisms. Findings indicate that strengthening victim-centered legal frameworks, ensuring comprehensive rehabilitation, and improving access to justice are crucial to achieving substantive protection for victims. This research contributes to a better understanding of how Indonesia’s criminal law should evolve to provide holistic protection and justice for victims of sexual violence in human trafficking cases, aligning with international human rights standards.

Abstract

The enactment of the 2023 Criminal Code (KUHP) brought significant changes to the regulation of the crime of aggravated theft, particularly through Article 477 of the 2023 Criminal Code, which replaced Article 363 of the old Criminal Code. This change is not only editorial in nature, but also has implications for the construction of criminal elements and law enforcement practices. This study aims to analyze the implications of the application of Article 477 of the 2023 Criminal Code on the enforcement of the law on aggravated theft and compare it with the provisions of Article 363 of the old Criminal Code. The research method used is normative legal research with a legal approach and a comparative approach, supported by primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. The results of the study indicate that there are differences in the regulation of aggravating elements and the systematics of punishment that have the potential to affect the investigation process, prosecution, and judges' considerations in issuing decisions. In addition, the implementation of Article 477 of the 2023 Criminal Code still faces challenges in terms of norm interpretation and the readiness of law enforcement officers. This study concludes that a comprehensive understanding and implementation guidelines are needed so that the implementation of the new provisions can guarantee legal certainty and the effectiveness of law enforcement against the crime of aggravated theft.

Abstract

The swift proliferation of short-video-centric social media, notably TikTok, has revolutionized the educational landscape by facilitating novel methods of knowledge production, dissemination, and interpretation. This phenomenon denotes a transition in media and signifies an epistemological transformation in educational practices within the digital age. This study seeks to analyze the representation and interpretation of knowledge in TikTok educational content using a qualitative methodology grounded in an interpretive case study framework. Data were gathered via digital participant observation, comprehensive interviews, and document analysis involving 12 participants, comprising educational content creators and active TikTok users in higher education settings. Thematic data analysis was performed utilizing a Multimodal Critical Discourse Analysis framework to elucidate the interplay among visual, verbal, and auditory components in the construction of meaning. The results show three main patterns: the conflict between quick understanding and deep knowledge, the importance of emotional multimodal experiences in learning, and the negotiation of knowledge authority in changing digital spaces. These results indicate that learning via TikTok encompasses not only cognitive aspects but also intricate emotional, aesthetic, and social dimensions. This study theoretically enhances multimodal discourse analysis by integrating users' subjective experiences, while practically informing the advancement of critical digital literacy and the design of social media-based learning. Moreover, this study facilitates additional investigation into algorithmic dynamics, digital identity, and the evolution of learning methodologies within platform-centric contexts.

Abstract

A single paragraph, maximum 250 words. Abstract content must contain (1) an overview of the object of research, (2) problems, and research objectives, (3) proposed methods, (4) main findings and results and synthesis of main ideas, and (5) conclusions. In recent years, the Iran–United States conflict has not only unfolded within the geopolitical arena but has also been intensively constructed through international media framing that shapes how global audiences understand this reality. In the context of the digital information overflow, media no longer function merely as conveyors of facts; rather, they act as agents that construct meaning, evoke emotions, and shape the social perceptions of audiences. This study aims to analyze how international media framing constructs representations of the Iran–United States conflict and how audiences interpret such discourse within their social experiences. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) design. Data were collected through document analysis of 25 news articles from both Western and non-Western media, as well as exploratory interviews with nine participants from academic backgrounds. Data analysis was conducted using a thematic approach based on Norman Fairclough’s three-dimensional model. The findings reveal three main patterns: the construction of threat through media language, moral polarization that produces a dichotomy of “us versus them,” and the negotiation of meaning by audiences, which is reflective and not always linear. These findings indicate that audiences are not entirely passive; rather, they actively interpret and, at times, question media framing. Theoretically, this study extends Critical Discourse Analysis by incorporating the dimension of audience experience into the discursive process. Practically, it underscores the importance of critical media literacy in navigating the complexity of global information and opens avenues for further exploration of the relationship between discourse, power, and social experience.
