Abstract

Behavioristic theory, which focuses on the role of stimulus, response, and reinforcement, has long been the basis for approaches to learning in a variety of scientific disciplines. In the PAI context, the application of behavioristic theory can influence the way students understand and internalize religious values and religious practices. This article outlines the basic concepts of behavioristic theory and explains the main principles that form the basis of this approach. Apart from that, this article also explains the main components in the PAI curriculum, which include learning objectives, teaching materials, learning methods, and assessment of learning outcomes. In the main part of this article, we consider the application of behavioristic theory in the development of PAI curricula. This includes steps such as identifying learning objectives, developing teaching materials that are in accordance with behavioristic principles, selecting behaviorist-oriented learning methods, and methods for assessing learning outcomes that are consistent with this approach. Apart from discussing the benefits and advantages of applying behavioristic theory, this article also identifies the challenges and limitations in applying this approach in the PAI context. Efforts to overcome these obstacles are also discussed, providing guidance for PAI curriculum developers. This research has significant implications for the development of Islamic religious education, especially in the context of the PAI curriculum.

Abstract

In order to better understand how students' learning styles affect their engagement with course contents, this study looks at how the VARK (Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, Kinesthetic) learning paradigm is applied in Islamic education. The study's two primary aims are first to examine how well students believe their preferred learning methods align with traditional versus digital learning environments and then to investigate how these preferences affect their interaction with Islamic educational materials. The study employs a semi-structured interview guide to record individual experiences during in-depth interviews conducted with 15 University of Utara Malaysia (UUM) students, utilizing a qualitative research approach. Within UUM's Islamic curriculum, a thematic analysis is conducted to identify trends, obstacles, and benefits associated with each VARK learning style. Specific obstacles include the dense structure of classical books for read/write learners, the monotony of audio materials, information overload for visual learners, and a lack of kinesthetic learning possibilities. The findings underscore the importance of an integrated, adaptable curriculum that accommodates diverse learning styles, thereby increasing student engagement and academic achievement. This study contributes to the literature on Islamic education by offering curriculum design recommendations that align with students' learning preferences, thereby facilitating the transition to Education 4.0.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the perceptions and impacts of online learning utilizing the SPACE (Electronic religious learning system application) among students enrolled in Teacher Professional Education (TPE) programs at State Islamic Religious Colleges. Employing a quantitative approach, the study utilized linear regression analysis and structural equation modeling through AMOS 23. Effectiveness was gauged using indicators proposed by Robert E. Slavin, encompassing quality of learning, appropriateness of learning level, intensity, and time. The study participants comprised students across three Teacher Professional Education Study Programs. The findings revealed that nearly all participants expressed ease in learning and perceived the modules within SPACE as more effective. They also indicated that the materials/modules in SPACE aligned well with the needs of TPE participants and found the learning procedures within SPACE easy to follow. Notably, incentive variables within implementation indicators had a direct influence on perceived ease of use (user convenience), subsequently impacting the perceived usefulness variable. For future research, integrating direct interview data from students and conducting comparative analyses between offline and online implementations in professional education would provide valuable insights.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to find out the law of interfaith marriage in terms of the results of ushul fiqh analysis of the arguments regarding interfaith marriage. The method used is the content analysis method (content study), by examining the ushul fiqh rules and Islamic studies related to the Quranic proposition regarding interfaith marriage. The type of data used is qualitative data, using literature study techniques in data collection. Interfaith marriage is the marriage of a Muslim with a non-Muslim. Islam has absolutely prohibited marriage with non-Muslims based on Q.S. Al-Baqarah verse 221 and Q.S. Al-Mumtahanah verse 10, seen in terms of the rules of ushul fiqh, the verse clearly has a prohibition and the origin in the prohibition shows the prohibition. However, in Q.S. Al-Maidah verse 5 a Muslim man is allowed to marry a woman of the book (Jews and Christians). However, in this day and age there is no longer someone who can be called a member of the book. Marriage with non-Muslims is better avoided, because in the ushul fiqh rules, rejecting mudharat takes precedence over taking benefits.
