Abstract

Behavioristic theory, which focuses on the role of stimulus, response, and reinforcement, has long been the basis for approaches to learning in a variety of scientific disciplines. In the PAI context, the application of behavioristic theory can influence the way students understand and internalize religious values and religious practices. This article outlines the basic concepts of behavioristic theory and explains the main principles that form the basis of this approach. Apart from that, this article also explains the main components in the PAI curriculum, which include learning objectives, teaching materials, learning methods, and assessment of learning outcomes. In the main part of this article, we consider the application of behavioristic theory in the development of PAI curricula. This includes steps such as identifying learning objectives, developing teaching materials that are in accordance with behavioristic principles, selecting behaviorist-oriented learning methods, and methods for assessing learning outcomes that are consistent with this approach. Apart from discussing the benefits and advantages of applying behavioristic theory, this article also identifies the challenges and limitations in applying this approach in the PAI context. Efforts to overcome these obstacles are also discussed, providing guidance for PAI curriculum developers. This research has significant implications for the development of Islamic religious education, especially in the context of the PAI curriculum.

Covid-19 is a pandemic that can change the culture of the learning process, which Covid-19 pandemic brought transformation and new habits, and these new habits had to be adjusted based on the rules and regulations that apply in the country. Globally, Covid-19 made educators have to quickly adapt to new teaching methods, and students faced difficulties with internet access, digital literacy, and maintaining motivation in a remote environment. However, around 2021, in quartile 3 to be precise, in Indonesia changes have occurred again to adapt to new habits, namely the post-Covid-19 recovery period, where the education system has again transformed from online learning habits to offline learning. This study aims to find out how interest in studying and learning outcomes affect undergraduate students of physics education in the post-COVID-19 era. The research method is carried out quantitatively, which consists of filling out a questionnaire for interest in studying which consists of five aspects; (1) Exploration; (2) Curiosity; (3) Boredom; (4) Attention; and (5) Enjoyment. This study used two groups namely pre covid-19 and post covid-19 with a total of 67 samples used, then processing of learning outcomes data prerequisite tests such as normality and homogeneity tests were carried out then hypothesis testing using independent sample t-test and Cohen's D Effect Size to know the how big the difference between two groups, then a deep interview is conducted to know deeply. This research found results in which undergraduate physics education students in the post-COVID-19 era experienced low interest in studying and learning outcomes due to the shock culture and the influence of student organizations which they thought were more interesting than academic activities.

Abstract

In order to better understand how students' learning styles affect their engagement with course contents, this study looks at how the VARK (Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, Kinesthetic) learning paradigm is applied in Islamic education. The study's two primary aims are first to examine how well students believe their preferred learning methods align with traditional versus digital learning environments and then to investigate how these preferences affect their interaction with Islamic educational materials. The study employs a semi-structured interview guide to record individual experiences during in-depth interviews conducted with 15 University of Utara Malaysia (UUM) students, utilizing a qualitative research approach. Within UUM's Islamic curriculum, a thematic analysis is conducted to identify trends, obstacles, and benefits associated with each VARK learning style. Specific obstacles include the dense structure of classical books for read/write learners, the monotony of audio materials, information overload for visual learners, and a lack of kinesthetic learning possibilities. The findings underscore the importance of an integrated, adaptable curriculum that accommodates diverse learning styles, thereby increasing student engagement and academic achievement. This study contributes to the literature on Islamic education by offering curriculum design recommendations that align with students' learning preferences, thereby facilitating the transition to Education 4.0.
