Abstract

Difficult integral problems that cannot be solved analytically often require numerical approaches. PHP (Perl Hypertexr Prepocessor) programming has become one of the tools that can be used to solve numerical problems. This research aims to develop a numerical integration program using the Simpson 3/8 method and Romberg method on polynomial, exponential, and trigonometric functions with PHP programming, as well as to compare the efficiency of both methods based on relative error and execution time. Based on the implementation of the algorithms of both methods in PHP programming, the research results show that the average error for the Simpson 3/8 method and Romberg method are 0,013787% and 0,001356%, respectively. The comparison of errors between these two methods indicates that the Romberg method is 9,89% more accurate than the Simpson 3/8 method. However, in terms of program execution time, the Simpson 3/8 method requires less time compared to the Romberg method. The average execution time for the Simpson 3/8 method and Romberg method are 0,00117 seconds and 1,77811 seconds, respectively, and the comparison of execution time between these two methods shows that the Simpson 3/8 method is shorter than the Romberg method when using the same number of iterations.

Abstract

Numeracy is a fundamental competency that should be developed through innovative mathematics learning. However, the use of digital technology by teachers to support numeracy learning remains limited. This community service program aimed to enhance the competencies of junior high school mathematics teachers in West Lombok Regency in developing and implementing numeracy learning through Augmented Reality (AR) using Assemblr EDU. The program involved 20 mathematics teachers who are members of the Mathematics Teachers Association (MGMP) of West Lombok Regency through training, media development practice, mentoring, and evaluation. The evaluation results showed that participants were able to independently develop AR-based learning media. A total of 95% of participants stated that the training materials met their needs, improved their skills in utilizing educational technology, and helped visualize abstract mathematical concepts in a more concrete and engaging way. In addition, 90% of participants expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the program. This activity contributed to strengthening teachers’ digital competencies and supporting the implementation of more innovative and interactive numeracy learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' visual–spatial intelligence in solving three-dimensional geometry problems based on van Hiele’s levels of geometric thinking. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subjects of this study were Grade XII science students of SMA Negeri 2 Labuapi. Data were collected through a van Hiele geometric thinking level test, a visual–spatial intelligence test, and interviews. The van Hiele test was administered to 21 students to classify their geometric thinking levels. The results showed that 16 students were at level 0, 3 students at level 1, and 2 students at level 2. Two students from each level were then selected as interview subjects. The findings indicate that students at level 0 did not fulfill the characteristics of visual–spatial intelligence. Students at level 1 fulfilled spatial perception, visualization, and spatial relation, while students at level 2 fulfilled spatial perception, visualization, spatial relation, and mental rotation. These results indicate that higher van Hiele thinking levels are associated with better visual–spatial intelligence in solving three-dimensional geometry problems.

Abstract

Rapid technological advancements have brought about changes in the world of education, including theirapplication in mathematics instruction. This study aims to develop a virtual mathematics laboratory focusedon plane geometry and to determine its feasibility and practicality. The research design employed is Researchand Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects consisted of 18 seventh-grade students at MTsS NWSepit. Data collection techniques included interviews, expert validation regarding the media and content, anda student practicality questionnaire. The results showed that the feasibility rating from the media expert was87.33% and from the content expert was 84.28%, with an average of 85.51% in the “highly feasible” category. The students’ practicality level reached 88.75%, falling into the “very good” category. Thus, the developedvirtual laboratory is deemed feasible and practical and has the potential to enhance students’ conceptualunderstanding interactively. Furthermore, the development of this virtual laboratory has a positive impacton the learning process, namely by increasing students’ engagement, interest, and motivation in studyingplane geometry through more engaging and interactive technology-based learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of realistic mathematics education based on Macromedia Flash on eighth-grade students’ problem-solving ability in Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables at MTsN 1 Bima in the 2025/2026 academic year. The study employed a quantitative quasi-experimental design. The population consisted of 110 eighth-grade students of MTsN 1 Bima. The samples were selected through cluster random sampling. Class VIII.1, consisting of 31 students, was assigned as the experimental class and received realistic mathematics education based on Macromedia Flash, while class VIII.4, consisting of 25 students, was assigned as the control class and received conventional learning based on Macromedia Flash. The research instrument was a posttest consisting of three essay questions. The data were analyzed using the t-test. The results showed that the average score of students’ problem-solving abilities in the experimental class was 85.937, while the control class obtained 79.16. Hypothesis testing showed that the = 4.461 and = 2.004 at a significance level of 0.05 (2-tailed). This finding indicates a significant difference between the two classes. Therefore, it can be concluded that realistic mathematics education based on Macromedia Flash significantly affects students’ problem-solving ability.
