Abstract

This study adapts the Plomp development model by including the stages of preliminary research, prototyping, and evaluation. The tools developed are in the form of lesson plans and electronic modules based on a scientific approach for class XI high school. The tools used are confirmation sheets, observation sheets, questionnaires, interviews and tests. The value of the validity of the lesson plan is 3.5 with a very valid category and the electronic module is 3.28 with a valid category. The practical level of students in the electronics module is 88.39 in the very practical category and according to the educators, it reaches 97.91% for the lesson plan and 89.00% for the electronic boiler module in the very comfortable type. Learning tools based on a scientific approach using e-modules in the form of lesson plans and e-modules are very effective types with an efficiency level of 83.78%. It can be concluded that the scientific approach developed on learning tools using electronic modules on polynomial material is useful, practical and effective in improving the mathematical connection skills of class XI middle school students

Abstract

Penalaran spasial adalah kemampuan mental yang bersangkutan dengan pemahaman, memanipulasi, merotasi, dan hubungan visual.  Penalaran spasial yang terdiri dari tiga konstruk yakni visualisasi spasial, rotasi mental, dan orientasi spasial ini merupakan salah satu kemampuan penting dalam geometri. Penelitian  deskriptif  kualitatif  ini  bertujuan mendeskripsikan kemampuan spasial siswa SMPN1 Padangpanjang dalam memahami, memanipulasi dan merotasi  suatu  objek  serta  kemampuan  membayangkan  bentuk  objek  dari  perspektif berbeda dengan pemberian tes masalah geometri  dengan topik dimensi tiga. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 32 orang  siswa SMPN1 Padangpanjang. Subjek kemudian dikategorikan menjadi kelompok tinggi, sedang, rendah dan dilakukan pendalaman pada tiap perwakilan kelompok melalui wawancara. Berdasarkan aktivitas penalaran spasial dan wawancara, diperoleh deskripsi sebagai berikut: siswa kelompok tinggi sebanyak 18,75% siswa, memiliki kemampuan penalaran spasial yang tinggi karena mampu memunculkan mental images yang jelas untuk menyelesaikan masalah geometri dengan langkah terstruktur, siswa kelompok sedang sebanyak  56,25% siswa memiliki kemampuan penalaran spasial yang sedang karena menemukan jawaban dengan cara yang tidak terstruktur dengan menebak jawaban, lalu membayangkan untuk mengecek kebenaran jawaban, sedangkan siswa kelompok rendah  sebanyak 25% siswa memiliki kemampuan penalaran spasial yang rendah karena sama sekali tidak mampu memperoleh gambaran visual dalam pikirannya dan tidak tahu cara menyelesaikan masalah yang diberikan.

Abstract

A good learning tool is one of the important things to make. This is because the support of learning devices also affects the achievement of a directed learning process so that mathematics learning is also achieved, such as solving mathematical problems. The ability to solve mathematical problems is expected to develop well in each student. Based on this, it is necessary to develop guided discovery-based learning tools to improve students' problem-solving skills. The research was conducted with the aim of knowing the characteristics of guided discovery-based learning that are valid, practical and effective to improve the problem-solving abilities of eighth grade students of SMP/MTs. This type of research is using the Plomp model, which consists of three stages, namely the preliminary stage, the prototype stage and the assessment stage. The instruments in this study were validation sheets, observation sheets, questionnaires, interviews and tests. The results showed that the learning tools in the form of RPP and LKPD based on guided discovery for class VIII SMP/MTs were valid, practical, and effective. The validity of the RPP reached 79% and LKPD 80.2%. While the practicality of the lesson plans is 77.6% and LKPD 90.5%. In addition, the effectiveness of the two products to improve problem solving skills is 83.87%.

Abstract

One measure of success in the learning process is the attainment of learning outcomes. However, grade VIII at SMP Negeri 25 Padang still struggle with maths. This is due to low student learning engagement. The Discovery Learning model combined with digital media was chosen as an effort to overcome this issue. This quasi-experimental research uses a nonequivalent posttest only control group design. The P-value of 0.002, below the significance level α = 0.05, was found after data analysis using the t-test. The Discovery Learning model using digital media is better in improving learning outcomes class VIII SMP Negeri 25 Padang compared to conventional learning.Keywords– Mathematics Learning Outcomes, Discovery Learning, Digital Media

Abstract

Mathematics learning outcomes can be said to be successful if someone is able to recognize and master mathematics subject matter in learning activities. However, in reality, learning mathematics often results in low learning outcomes. Students at SMP Negeri 1 Kabun can also suffer from low mathematics learning outcomes. Regarding this problem, the solution offered in this research is the Two Stay Two Stay (TSTS) learning model. In this research, the aim is to convey mathematics learning outcomes by comparing students who implemented it using the TSTS learning model and students who implemented it using the direct learning model at SMP Negeri 1 Kabun. In this research, using a quasi-experiment as a type of research by choosing a nonequivalent posttest only control group design as the research design. To conduct this research, Class IX of SMP Negeri 1 Kabun became the population using the Purposive Sampling technique for sampling. Class IX-4 was selected as the experimental group and Class IX-3 was selected as the control group. Minitab software was used to analyze the final test results. The results obtained with a P-value <0.05 indicate that students at SMP Negeri 1 Kabun who apply TSTS learning get superior mathematics learning outcomes compared to students who apply direct learning. Therefore, there is a significant difference in mathematics learning outcomes between students at SMP Negeri 1 Kabun who take TSTS learning and those who take direct learning.Keywords – Two Stay Two Stray, Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Lemahnya kemampuan koneksi matematis ini terlihat dari ketidakmampuan peserta didik dalam melihat keterkaitan dalam setiap konsep. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan melakukan pembelajaran yang konstektual serta menggunakan perangkat pembelajaran yang menarik yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran berupa Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) dan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis Connecting Mathematics Project (CMP) bentuan video pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis peserta didik yang valid, praktis dan efektif.  Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan dengan model Plomp. Dengan subjek penelitiannya peserta didik kelas VIII SMP. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar validasi RPP, LKPD, video pembelajaran, angket respon pendidik dan angket respon peserta didik. Selanjutnya hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran dan video pembelajaran memenuhi kriteri sangat valid dengan rata-rata skor berturut-turut 90,57%, 87,75% dan 87,25%. Dan praktis digunakan dalam pembelajaran dengan skor 94% serta efektif dalam mengembangkan kemampuan koneksi matematis peserta didik dengan perolehan skor 70% . oleh karena itu, perangkat pembelajaran berbasis Connecting Mathematics Project (CMP) dan video pembelajaran yang dihasilkan  sudah valid, praktis dan efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis peserta didikThis weak mathematical connection ability can be seen from the students' inability to see the interrelationships in each concept. One effort that can be made is by carrying out contextual learning and using interesting learning tools that are tailored to the needs of students. This research aims to produce learning tools in the form of Learning Implementation Plans (RPP) and Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on the Connecting Mathematics Project (CMP) in the form of learning videos to improve students' mathematical connection abilities in a valid, practical and effective way.  This research uses model development with the Plomp model. With the research subject being students in class VIII of junior high school. The instruments used were RPP validation sheets, LKPD, learning videos, teacher response questionnaires and student response questionnaires. Furthermore, the research results show that the learning tools and learning videos meet the very valid criteria with average scores of 90.57%, 87.75% and 87.25% respectively. And it is practically used in learning with a score of 94% and is effective in developing students' mathematical connection abilities with a score of 70%. Therefore, the Connecting Mathematics Project (CMP) based learning tools and the resulting learning videos are valid, practical and effective in improving students' mathematical connection abilities.

Abstract

 Kemampuan peserta didik dalam memecahkan masalah matematis masih tergolong rendah. Akibatnya, peserta didik mengalami kesulitan dalam menyusun rencana dan menyelesaikan masalah matematis. Adapun penyebab rendahnya KPM peserta didikyaitu kurangnya perangkat pembelajaran yang memfasilitasi KPM matematis. Oleh karena itu, dikembangkan sebuah perangkat berbasis Discovery Learning berbantuan Geogebra yang dapat menstimulus proses pembelajaran aktif, memotivasi peserta didik dan meningkatkan KPM matematis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model pengembangan Plomp. Produk yang dikembangkan adalah modul ajar dan LKPD berbasis Discovery Learning berbantuan Geogebra untuk kelas X SMK materi trigonometri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan perangkat berbasis Discovery Learning berbantuan Geogebra yang valid, praktis, dan efektif terhadap KPM peserta didik kelas X SMK. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran berbentuk Modul Ajar dan LKPD berbasis Discovery Learning berbantuan Geogebra peserta didik kelas X SMK adalah valid, praktis, dan efektif. Hasil validasi perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan sudah sangat valid, menyesuaikan 4 indikator KPM matematis dilihat dari aspek didaktik, materi, kebahasaan dan kegrafikaan. Hasil Praktikalitas perangkat pembelajaran sangat praktis dilihat dari aspek kemudahan penggunaan, kesesuaian alokasi waktu, daya tarik dan kebermanfaatan. Selanjutnya dikatakan efektif karena memberikan dampak terhadap KPM peserta didik 80,60% dengan kategori sangat baik. Students' ability to solve math problems s still relatively. As a result, students have difficulty in planning and solving mathematical problems. The cause of the low KPM of students is the lack of learning tools that facilitate mathematical KPM. Therefore, a Discovery Learning-based tool assisted by Geogebra was developed that can stimulate the active learning process, motivate students and improve mathematical KPM. This research is a development research using Plomp's development model. The products developed are teaching modules and LKPD based on Discovery Learning assisted by Geogebra for class X SMK trigonometry material. The purpose of this study was to produce a valid, practical, and effective Discovery Learning-based tool for grade X SMK students. The results showed that the learning tools in the form of Teaching Modules and LKPD based on Discovery Learning assisted by Geogebra for grade X SMK students were valid, practical, and effective. The results of the validation of the learning tools developed are very valid, adjusting 4 indicators of mathematical KPM seen from the aspects of didactics, material, language and graphics. Practicality results of learning devices are very practical in terms of ease of use, suitability of time allocation, attractiveness and usefulness.urthermore, it is said to be effective because it has an impact on the KPM of 80.60% students with a very good category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical connection abilities of students who have high, medium and low categories of ability in completing linear programming material. This type of research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were Mathematics Education students of Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai University in semester V of the 2022/2023 academic year. The research instrument consisted of a mathematical connection ability test and interview guidelines. The results of the study, students who have high category abilities are able to meet the mathematical connection ability indicators and can solve the problems given well. Furthermore, students who have moderate category abilities show a lack of understanding of the mathematical connection ability indicators, have not been able to have skills between concepts in mathematics, students who have moderate category abilities have difficulty in making mathematical models from the problems given. Students who have low ability categories, cannot meet the mathematical connection ability indicators, and cannot master concepts in mathematics, and also have difficulty in making mathematical models from the problems given. Conclusion, students with high ability can meet the indicators of mathematical connection ability and solve problems well, while students with medium and low ability have difficulty in understanding and comprehending mathematical concepts, as well as in creating mathematical models from the problems given. Abstract

Mathematical ability is a crucial aspect of modern life as it influences various fields such as economics, technology, and science. This study, spanning 2014-2023, examines articles on mathematical ability in leading journals. Using the bibliometric methods, it includes article searches in Scopus and Google Scholar via Publish or Perish (PoP), classification for bibliometric analysis, metadata checks, and bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer. The research shows a consistent trend in publications on mathematical ability, with minimal fluctuations and significant citation patterns. High-citation articles underscore the field’s importance in knowledge advancement. Key terms are ‘ability’, ‘mathematical ability’, and ‘student’, indicating research focus areas. However, limited author collaboration suggests potential for increased interdisciplinary synergy and knowledge sharing. These findings highlight opportunities for enhancing cross-disciplinary collaborations and research networks. They offer insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers in understanding trends, developing effective learning strategies, and encouraging further research in mathematical ability. In summary, this bibliometric study provides a comprehensive overview of the significance of mathematical ability in research, emphasizing the need for collaborative, innovative educational and research practices. It underscores the importance of further research to deepen understanding and application of mathematical ability, promoting an integrative approach in this essential field.

Abstract

Mathematics communication ability is an essential component of mathematics that students should have. However, the mathematics communication ability of students, especially in Indonesia, still needs to improve. This study offers a new and different view of mathematics communication to improve it. This study aims to develop an assessment tool for students’ mathematics communication to identify the problems so teachers can focus on improving those areas. Not only the cognitive domain of the students, but this study also includes assessments of the affective and psychomotor domains as well. The reason is that cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects are interconnected in mathematics communication. The study of these three domains is called behavior. The assessment tools consist of the mathematics communication behavior analytical rubric and appropriate mathematics test problems. This study is developmental research with three phases: the development of the analytical rubric, the development of mathematics tests, and the application. The participants in this study are two mathematics education experts and 240 students in the 8th grade from seven schools, each located in a different city. The findings of this research show that the developed assessment tools can be used to assess students’ mathematics communication behavior.
