Abstract

The construction industry has a high rate of workplace accidents due to the low compliance of workers in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). To address this issue, a community service program was conducted in the form of training on the introduction and simulation of PPE usage aimed at improving the knowledge, skills, and awareness of construction workers. The program was implemented using an educational–participatory approach through four stages: needs analysis, occupational safety counseling, simulation-based field practice training, and evaluation with monitoring. The evaluation results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge by 36,48%, from an average pre-test score of 56.33% to 95,81%, and an improvement in compliance with PPE usage by 36.42%. Moreover, 92,22% of participants reported becoming more disciplined in using PPE after the training. This program demonstrates that simulation-based methods effectively foster safe work behavior. It is recommended that similar training be conducted regularly, supported by internal supervision and reminder posters to strengthen a sustainable safety culture.

Abstract

Since the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Decree Number 26 of 1989, namely regarding changing teacher positions to functional positions, teachers have been required to develop their careers. This explains that teachers are required to disseminate the results of Classroom Action Research through seminars, publications, or other means so that the research results can be known to the general public. In general, the dissemination of scientific work is carried out online through the Open Journal System system. However, with the increase in information technology, scientific work produced is prone to plagiarism due to the ease of accessing information. Partners are teachers at SMKN 3 Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands Province. Partners have the problem of a lack of knowledge about how to submit articles via the Open Journal System (OJS) system and plagiarism as well as how to check plagiarism in a scientific work. The method used is to provide knowledge about the Open Journal System (OJS) and Anti-Plagiarism systems and training using software or online Anti-Plagiarism checking applications which can be used for free. The results obtained are that partners understand how to use the OJS system, Plagiarism Checker and Turnitin applications, from 25 (twenty five) participants with a 'Very Good' score of 12%, a 'Good' score of 60%, a 'Medium' score of 28% and 'Not Appearing' value is 0%. Other results in the form of teaching materials and articles with draft status to the Community Service Journal will be published in 2024. The conclusion obtained is the increased capacity of partners in using the OJS system and plagiarism check applications.

Abstract

This activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of santri in managing waste, both organic and inorganic, as well as introduce the concept of waste banks and the benefits of magot in waste management. Through a series of educational materials and hands-on practices, participants were invited to care more about the environment and trained to turn waste into valuable resources. The pretest results showed that most participants already had a basic understanding of waste management, but their knowledge of magot and organic waste processing practices were still low. After the mentoring activities, the posttest results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding, especially in distinguishing between types of waste, understanding the benefits of magot, and awareness of the importance of waste management. As many as 93% of participants felt more confident to process organic waste in the boarding school environment, and 96% of participants were committed to inviting friends or family to participate in waste management activities. This shows that this service activity has succeeded in increasing environmental awareness and empowering santri as agents of change in preserving the environment. This activity is expected to be sustainable, with santri as pioneers in waste management in the pesantren environment and surrounding communities, and become an example for similar programs in the future.
