Abstract

This study arises from the need to understand the learning of speaking skills in a more contextual way within the Modern Islamic Boarding School environment, given that previous studies still tend to highlight only the partial effectiveness of language methods or programs. This study aims to analyze how the learning strategy for speaking skills at Darul Qiyam Kerinci Modern Islamic Boarding School is constructed and implemented within the framework of postmethod pedagogy, particularly through the parameters of particularity, practicality, and possibility. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subject of this study is the practice of learning Arabic Speaking skills in the pesantren environment, while the informants are the teachers of the boarding school who are directly involved in teaching Arabic and developing the language environment, who are purposively selected for their active involvement and willingness to participate. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis, and then analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of the study show that speaking learning strategies are constructed contextually through the language environment, teachers' pedagogical reflections, and layered language practices. This strategy not only strengthens students' Speaking skills, but also shapes their courage, linguistic agency, and social identity. The practical implication of this study is that speaking skills instruction needs to be designed holistically by connecting language policy, authentic communicative practice, and the teacher’s role as a reflective practitioner.

Abstract

Background: Nahwu learning often faces challenges due to students’ low motivation and difficulties in understanding abstract grammatical concepts. These challenges are frequently intensified by traditional teaching approaches that lack interactivity and provide limited opportunities for active practice with grammatical rules. Research Objectives: This study aims to describe the implementation of Wayground in nahwu learning based on cognitivist theory and to examine students’ attitudes toward its use. Methodology: This study employed a qualitative approach supplemented by quantitative descriptive data on student perceptions. Conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Darul Qiyam Kerinci, it involved 40 twelfth-grade students selected through total sampling. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire, and analyzed descriptively and thematically using frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations. Results: The implementation of Wayground-based nahwu learning consisted of five stages: (1) preparation of materials and quizzes, (2) activation of prior knowledge, (3) guided use of Wayground, (4) interactive quizzes, and (5) feedback through discussion. These stages reflected cognitivist principles, including schema activation, information processing, repetition, reinforcement, and immediate feedback. Students responded positively, reporting that Wayground helped them understand nahwu concepts, organize grammatical information, connect new knowledge with prior knowledge, and increase motivation and confidence. Unique Contribution: This study contributes to technology-supported nahwu learning by demonstrating the pedagogical integration of Wayground with cognitivist theory and offering a theoretically grounded instructional approach that does not claim causal effectiveness. Conclusion: Wayground can function as a useful supplementary tool for cognition-based Nahwu learning when supported by structured instructional stages, carefully designed questions, teacher facilitation, and follow-up discussions. However, positive student perceptions should not be interpreted as direct evidence of improved learning outcomes. Recommendations: Future research should involve larger samples, different nahwu topics, and more rigorous designs, such as pretest/posttest or comparative studies, to more directly assess its impact on students’ achievement and cognitive development.

Abstract

Quality assurance is an action to maintain customer satisfaction. As a prominent fabrication producer, Firm A, which receives regular orders from corporate clients, has been challenged with maintaining quality consistency during the production process of filter tanks. This study aims to identify risks and evaluate failures that occur during the filter tank production process based on the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis method. The FMEA stage was started with a walkthrough survey to identify defects, followed by brainstorming sessions with two expert respondents to determine the severity, occurrence, and detection score. Subsequently, the Risk Potential Number score was calculated. Research findings distinguished three types of defects during production stages, namely welding, asymmetric, and painting. Based on risk quantification, it was found that the highest defect score, 392, was attributed to the painting failure category, characterized by excessively thick paint results. This finding was followed by the second-highest score of 336, and the third with value of 294 as failure of asymmetric joints. The practical implication in complementary of the FMEA finding showed that systematic training, audits, and briefings are suggested to address the issues that cause the highest number of failures on fabrication process.

Abstract

Talk of disarming the resistance has, of late, risen to the surface of the international public dialectic. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the instruments used by Mahmoud Abbas in propagating the discourse of disarming the resistance in the text dimension, the discourse praxis dimension and the socio-cultural praxis dimension. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The data in this study come from Mahmoud Abbas' speeches spread in the mass media from year to year. The data was collected using reading and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was conducted using Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis method, which consists of three dimensions: text dimension, discourse praxis dimension and situational praxis dimension. The results are the findings of three dimensions: text dimension, discourse praxis dimension and situational praxis dimension. The Findings are Abbas' polarization of the public to support the discourse of disarmament and demonization of Hamas through the use of instruments such as: representation of the perpetrator through lexical choices made by using insults or giving official names. In addition, Abbas produces disarmament discourses by using accusations against Hamas and utilizing his political position to legitimize his propaganda.

Abstract

Here is no doubt that Ibn Jinni is one of the popular Arab linguistic figures. From various references, it is said that Ibn Jinni is an expert in the science of nahwu (Syntax). One of the monumental works that he gave birth to is Al-Khashais. Moreover, several other works support Ibn Jinni's linguistic thinking. One of the interesting studies to explore is word and meaning, which are in the scope of the macro language and cannot be separated from Arabic linguistic studies. Besides the relationship between words and meaning, according to Ibn Jinni, the two elements of language were developed as a means of communication, both spoken and written. Therefore, the study of words and its meaning needs to be understood from all aspects of language and the socio-cultural context in general. words and meaning are the subjects of multi-perspective linguistic research giving rise to linguistic studies. Linguistic reflection on lafazh and its meaning is important as a theoretical basis for understanding Arabic texts and for the development of learning Dalalah for Arab scholars or scholars.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of Jambi Malay language interference on communication in Arabic. This study used a descriptive-analytical approach and combined corpus analysis methods, interviews, and observations to collect relevant data. The participants of the study were Jambi Malay speakers, in this case, the students of Pondok Pesantren Modern Darussalam Gontor 10 Muara Sabak Jambi, who used Arabic in daily communication. The results showed that interference of Jambi Malay affected Arabic communication in several aspects. Regarding phonology, differences are found in pronouncing certain Arabic sounds, which can lead to inaccuracies and misunderstandings in using Arabic. In terms of vocabulary, this interference results in the use of loan words or meaning adaptation of Arabic words in Jambi Malay, causing changes in the meaning and misuse of words in Arabic communication. Jambi Malay sentence patterns, such as the placement of subjects at the end of sentences, affect how sentences are arranged in Arabic and cause discrepancies with correct Arabic grammar. Interference is also seen in using different conjunctions and connecting words between Jambi Malay and Arabic. This study provides an in-depth understanding of the impact of Jambi Malay interference on Arabic communication.
