Abstract

This study aims to analyze the understanding the concepts and critical thinking skills of physics students in online learning using a virtual laboratory. This study uses a causal associative relationship between variables. The subjects in this study consisted of 40 students from Muslim universities and Medan state universities who were programming physics laboratory courses. The sample collection technique uses random sample sampling. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire to determine student responses to online learning using a virtual laboratory and student worksheets (LKM) to measure students' understanding of concepts and critical thinking skills. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that online learning using virtual laboratories affects students 'understanding of concepts and critical thinking skills, with a significant value of understanding concepts and students' critical thinking skills of 0.000 <0.05, the correlation value of understanding concepts 81% and critical thinking skills of 84%. is in the very good category, so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between online learning using a virtual laboratory on students' conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Abstract

Based on a survey of students in the PSPF D 2022 class, educators have 100% used smartphones, but some still use them to access things unrelated to learning. The general Physics course allocates three credits with two material credits and one practicum credit. The material can be conveyed thoroughly to students using learning media on Android smartphones, so learning media will be developed based on the Android smartphone operating system, namely Android-based interactive multimedia-based case method assisted by articulate storyline 3 in General Physics. This interactive multimedia will include several media consisting of RPS, material explaining everyday life, images, graphics, example problems, questions, learning videos, and student worksheets. This study aims to develop interactive multimedia that is feasible, practical, and effective and also to determine student responses. The research was conducted at the Physics Department of State University of Medan. This type of research uses the 4D models. The results of study show the percentage of assessment scores for interactive multimedia from material experts is 97% and media experts is 79.2%, the results of a practicality questionnaire 80%, and student responses according to the category 3.58 very effective, 3.61 very practical, 3.43 very safe, 3.38 very satisfied.

Kata kunci: penuntun praktikum; fisika umum; case method dan team-based project. ABSTRACTPracticum is a learning strategy that can attract students' interest in developing physics concepts. Practicum is very closely related to learning Physics because it requires verification, proof through practicum and physics learning is full of theories, concepts, laws, principles and rules about physics, all of which need to be proven through practicum. The problem found in the practicum course in General Physics is that there is no standard practicum guideline available. The aim of the research is to develop a general physics practicum guide standard in the form of a General Physics Practicum Guide Smart Module based on the Case Method and Team-Based Project. The type of research is R&D with the 4-D development model proposed by Thiagarajan and Semmel. Data collection techniques are in the form of material validation questionnaires, media validation questionnaires, question validation questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. Based on the validation results of the General Physics Practicum Guide based on the Case Method and Team-Based Project, it is valid in the good category and can be continued for field trials and is expected to improve problem solving skills, critical thinking and creative thinking of students. Keywords: practicum guide; general physics; case method and team-based project.

Abstract

In the 21st century as the century of industrial revolution 4.0. demands that all components in the school, starting from the principal, teachers, education staff and students, be directed to develop their competencies on an ongoing basis. Innovation is the most important key in the industrial era 4.0 which requires educators to form their students with 21st century competencies, namely being able to think critically, creatively, collaboratively and communicatively. This research aims to determine the effect of the inquiry-based learning model on improving students’ 21st century skills in physics subjects in high school. In the current era, learning is no longer just monotonous learning but prioritizes 21st century skills, namely critical thinking skills, creative skills, communication skills and collaboration skills. This research is library research whose data comes from library sources, namely library research. This article was written using a comparative study method and content analysis. Comparative literature studies are carried out by examining bold primary literature, such as journals, research reports, activity reports, books, magazines, news media, and other sources that meet validity and reputation standards. Analysis carried out on relevant articles proves that the application of inquiry has a positive impact on student learning activities. It is known from the results of this literature study that the application of the inquiry learning model in teaching and learning activities has a positive influence on students’ 21st century skills in physics subjects in high school, namely critical thinking skills, creative skills, communication skills and collaboration skills.
