Abstract

The livestock sector plays a significant role in providing quality feed to support the growth and productivity of poultry. Vegetables are widely used as an alternative feed, but the chopping process is still often done manually, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and produces uneven cuts. This study aims to design and build a vegetable chopper equipped with three types of blades and a chopping capacity of 1 kg per minute. The research method includes literature studies, conceptual design, manufacturing process, and testing of the chopped results. The machine consists of a 2.2 kW electric motor with 2850 RPM, an 8 cm long shaft, and three types of blades. The test results show that using three blades produces the most uniform chopped results, meeting the poultry feed standards (50–100 mm). This tool is expected to assist small and medium-scale farmers in preparing poultry feed more efficiently and hygienically.

Abstract

One of the main reasons people become disabled or die is because of a stroke. The key to swift and effective therapy is an early diagnosis. This research examines the relative performance of the Naïve Bayes and Random Forest algorithms in identifying stroke cases using data collected from patients at the Cipayung Health Center. Age, gender, BMI, smoking status, hypertension, and other physical and mental health issues are some of the characteristics represented in the 644 samples used in the study. Collecting data, cleaning it up, and then evaluating the model using metrics like recall, precision, and accuracy are all part of the research process. With a 92% accuracy rate, the Random Forest algorithm outperformed Naïve Bayes (87% accuracy rate), according to the data. Medical professionals may use these results as a guide to improve stroke detection, which in turn accelerates treatment and lessens the likelihood of consequences. The findings of this study also pave the way for future research into machine learning algorithms.

Abstract

The transformation of oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) incineration ash into granular potassium fertilizer offers a promising approach to recycling agro-industrial waste while producing value-added products. This study focuses on the formulation of EFB ash-based granules using tapioca starch as a natural binder, and examines the effects of binder weight and drying time on granule yield, pH, K₂O content, and moisture content. Tapioca starch was incorporated at five  different weight (5, 10, 15, 20,  and 25 g) to evaluate its influence on granulation performance. The results showed that increasing tapioca starch content significantly improved the granule yield, achieving a maximum of 67.91% at 15 g. However, there are no granular formed. The granular formed at weight of binder 25 g that resulted 67.22% yield and 36.72% Potasium. The pH of the granules slightly decreased with increasing binder dosage. Moisture content was influenced by both the binder weight and drying time; higher starch content retained more water. This study demonstrates that tapioca starch is a viable biodegradable binder for producing eco-friendly granular fertilizers from EFB ash, supporting sustainable waste valorization and agricultural practices.

Abstract

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) is one of Indonesia’s agricultural commodities with recognized health benefits as a traditional medicine. In addition, nutmeg has potential as a natural treatment for scabies. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of nutmeg fruit bioactive compounds in scabies treatment. Nutmeg extraction was conducted using three different solvents: ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane. The extract with the most dominant phytochemical composition was further analyzed for bioactive compounds using GC-MS and antioxidant activity using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. Subsequently, the extract was tested against Sarcoptes scabiei mites obtained from 15 stray cats. The effectiveness of nutmeg extract was evaluated in a spray formulation by observing mite mortality and lesion reduction. The results demonstrated that the ethanol extract of nutmeg fruit contained the most abundant phytochemicals, with 3-Methyl-2,5-Furandione (21.26%) and Maleic Anhydride (14.21%) as the dominant compounds. The ethanol extract also exhibited strong antioxidant activity with an IC₅₀ value of 21.41 ppm. In vitro testing showed 100% mite mortality at a 25% extract concentration within 24 hours, while in vivo testing on scabies-infected cats treated with the nutmeg spray extract revealed a significant reduction in scab lesions compared to the control group. These findings indicate that nutmeg extract possesses potent acaricidal and antioxidant properties, making it a promising alternative treatment for scabies. Further studies are required to refine the formulation and explore its clinical applications.

Abstract

This study investigates the dynamics of collective behavior and social movements that emerged during the late-August 2025 demonstrations in Indonesia, focusing on how structural grievances, triggering events, and media framing shaped the escalation of public mobilization. The research aims to explain why the protests, which initially centered on opposition to proposed parliamentary allowance increases, quickly expanded into a nationwide movement marked by strong expressions of solidarity and episodes of mass violence. Special attention is given to the death of Affan Kurniawan, an ordinary citizen who became an unintended victim during crowd-control operations, and whose case transformed the public’s emotional and moral engagement with the demonstrations. Using a qualitative approach that combines interviews with civil society actors, analysis of organizational documents, and observations of mainstream and digital media content, the study identifies several key findings. Structural economic and political tensions created fertile conditions for mobilization, while the death of Affan Kurniawan acted as a powerful moral catalyst that broadened participation across diverse social groups. Civil society organizations played a crucial role in coordinating information, framing human-rights concerns, and maintaining the momentum of public engagement. Meanwhile, contrasting media narratives contributed to divergent interpretations of the protests, influencing public sentiment and state responses. The study concludes that interactions among grievances, symbolic events, and communication networks significantly amplify the scale and emotional intensity of contemporary social movements. Strengthening transparency, accountability, and rights-based approaches in protest management is essential to prevent similar escalations in the future.
