Abstract

Sundanese manuscripts are still relatively unknown in today's society. Perhaps it is regarded a new science with no benefit to scientific development. In truth, manuscripts and writings as subjects of philological study have been known in Alexandria from the third century BC, according to a character named Erasthothenes. Manuscripts as cultural documents and literary references for other sciences must be made aware of their existence in the current millennium, as many manuscripts' contents remain unknown. One of them is Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA), which is revealed in the manuscript text of the Tatamba mantra and is used by the Baduy indigenous community to boost endurance and immunity. The Tatamba manuscript's significance to Baduy TOGA must be maximized in order to determine the kind, function, dose, processing technique, and therapy actions, as well as the usage of TOGA for health maintenance based on the Tatamba manuscript. Descriptive research, comparative analysis, and text criticism study methodologies, as well as codicology and textology, pharmacology, health communication, and transdisciplinary cultural studies, were investigated. TOGA in the Tatamba mantra manuscript is relevant to the lives of the Baduy indigenous community because it is supported by the ngukus tradition, which is a ngajampé ceremony'reciting mantras' to pray for the safety, health, and welfare of the Baduy indigenous community, which is performed once a year when the ngalaksa tradition is carried out. This topic is relevant not only to philology, but also to other multidisciplinary fields such as agriculture, pharmacy, medicine, cultural communication, anthropology, and public health.

Abstract

Manuscripts, as a legacy and cultural inheritance of predecessors, are vital cultural documents for the advancement of a society's culture. Consequently, manuscripts must not be undervalued. This is comprehensible, as their existence can still be realized in the Generation Z age. The important and interesting manuscripts studied in this article are manuscripts in the Sundanese literature category in the form of Wawacan, which is closely related to pupuh. Wawacan has an influence on the Sundanese literary treasury. The purpose of this study is to explain the definition, position and classification, as well as the requirements and character of pupuh in an effort to support understanding of the ins and outs of WPW. This article's examination of the literary elements aims to offer an overview, context, and elucidation of the Wawacan Panji Wulung text, which was widely esteemed and utilized as an educational reference, culminating in six print editions during its era. This article is part of qualitative research, employing descriptive analysis methodologies through sociological literary approaches, hermeneutics, which are intrinsically linked to philological studies, both codicologically and textologically, as well as cultural studies in general. The study's results demonstrate the interconnection between the requirements and characteristics of the pupuh, together with the complexities of Wawacan Panji Wulung. This page serves as a reference for literacy across several scientific disciplines in a multidisciplinary context.

Abstract

The digitalization of library reference services through social media remains under-researched, particularly regarding how socio-technical factors and institutional policy processes intersect in national libraries. This study addresses this gap by examining the case of the National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas), where virtual reference services (VRS) have evolved amid infrastructural reforms and the COVID-19 pandemic. Adopting a qualitative case study within a constructivist paradigm, the research combines semi-structured interviews with librarians and managers (n=5) and a Social Network Analysis (SNA) of @perpusnas1 interactions on X (formerly Twitter) during 2023. The analytical framework integrates the Policy Cycle with the Social Construction of Technology (SCOT), enabling a multi-layered exploration of agenda-setting, policy formulation, interpretive flexibility, and network structures. Findings show that VRS development was shaped by problem recognition (inefficiencies in email services), adaptive policy formulation (iterative SOP revisions and platform selection), and improvisational implementation constrained by staff capacity and infrastructure. SCOT analysis revealed competing interpretations of social media—promotion, reference tool, or user shortcut—eventually stabilised through closure. SNA results confirmed a centralised hub-and-spoke model dominated by @perpusnas1, enhancing responsiveness but limiting distributed participation. This study contributes theoretically by linking SCOT, policy process models, and SNA in library science; practically by highlighting training, evaluation, and integration needs for managers; and for policy by illustrating adaptive pathways to digitalisation in developing-country contexts.

Abstract

This study analyzes the place branding strategy of Garut Regency, focusing on toponymy dynamics, historical nicknames, and the role of Penta-helix collaboration in addressing identity fragmentation and brand credibility gaps. Using a qualitative interpretive case study design, the research explores how stakeholders negotiate meanings within complex social contexts. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 14 key informants representing Government, Academia, Business, Community, and Media, supported by documentation studies. Analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings show that multiple nicknames such as “Kota Intan,” “Swiss van Java,” and “Joyful Garut” create contrasting perceptions, with some viewing them as cultural richness and others as confusing identity signals. A notable credibility gap also emerges between brand promises and on-the-ground realities. Penta-helix synergy remains limited due to top-down initiatives that lack grounding in local values. The study recommends positively reinterpreting toponymy and strengthening an integrated, collaborative governance ecosystem.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the role of the mobile library program as a form of public service provided by the Cimahi City Public Library in enhancing literacy access for the community, particularly for students in areas with limited access to conventional libraries. The study is motivated by the urgency of equitable access to information as a part of inclusive literacy development. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through in-depth interviews with librarians who are directly involved in the implementation of the program. The findings indicate that the mobile library significantly contributes to increasing students’ reading interest by providing diverse and easily accessible reading materials. The presence of this service allows students to access information without the need to visit a library building directly. However, the implementation of the program faces several challenges, including limited vehicle availability, a shortage of human resources, and the risk of collection damage due to high mobility. Nevertheless, the findings suggest that the mobile library plays a strategic role in expanding the reach of library services and supporting the development of an equitable literacy ecosystem in Cimahi City.
