Abstract

In this era, the use of cosmetic products in Indonesia has increased significantly. One of the most popular cosmetic products is powder, which contains heavy metals, especially lead, as a colorant. By the provisions of BPOM RI in 2014, the maximum limit of lead heavy metal contamination in cosmetics, including powder, should not exceed 20 mg/kg. As well to the US FDA, which stipulates that the value of lead as an impurity in cosmetic products should not exceed 20 mg/kg. The purpose of this journal review is to assess the levels of lead metal in cosmetic products, especially powder, circulating in various regions in Indonesia and several countries. The literature study method uses secondary data obtained from the Google Scholar database for the last 10 years. 8 articles were found that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, could be accessed in full text, and had an ISSN number for review. The overall results of the journal review regarding the analysis of heavy metal content, especially lead, were carried out by analyzing solid powder preparations and powders according to atomic absorption spectroscopy (SSA) procedures, which resulted in research-based data.

Abstract

Melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L) is extensively found in Indonesia, and all of its components are highly employed, with the fruit being the most commonly used. However, melinjo fruit can induce hyperuricemia if ingested excessively since it contains purines, which can raise uric acid levels. Several investigations have found that melinjo peel can lower uric acid levels in experimental rats in vivo. As a result, the goal of this study is to create and evaluate immediate granule formulations of melinjo peel extract. Plant determination, standardization of specified parameters, standardization of non-specific parameters, formulation, and physical and chemical assessment of instant granules of melinjo peel extract are all steps of the technique. This study employed two instant granule formulations of melinjo peel extract FI and FII with varying PVP concentrations (1g FI and 3g FII). Flow time testing, angle of repose testing, compressibility index testing, water content testing, and dissolving time testing were all part of the physical examination of instant granules. The chemical evaluation took the form of a UV-Vis spectrophotometer study of total flavonoid levels in instant extracts and granules. The FI and FII instant granule formulas had a yellow color, the flow time test results were in a good category (44 g/s and 81 g/s), the angle of repose test results was in the very good flow properties category (19° and 16°), the compressibility test results, the water content test, and the dissolving time test were performed in triplo, in 0, 7th, and 14th day, and the results were in a good category. In conclusion, the physical features of instant granules of FI and FII melinjo peel extracts fulfilled the requirements for all test parameters and had a high possibility to be produced as anti hyperuricemia preparations.

Abstract

Abstract

*Corresponding Author SayyidahE-mail: sayyidah@wdh.ac.id Bad breath is a symptom of an unnoticed disorder or disease. However, sufferers have unpleasant bad breath that arises from the oral cavity. According to Regional Health Research (Riskesdes) in 2013 in the city of South Tangerang, dental and oral health problems increased from 2007 by 19.9% to 2014 by 34.2%, dental and oral problems in children aged 10-14 years were 20, 6%. Jatropha leaf extract can be formulated as a natural mouthwash. Mouthwash is one of the mouth preparations widely available on the market which can be used to treat bad breath, one of the causes of bad breath is the bacteria Candida albicans. Jatropha curcus (Jatropha curcus L) leaves are able to inhibit Candida albicans bacteria that cause bad breath. Lime also contains flavonoids which play a very important role in inhibiting bacterial growth. The aim of this research is to obtain the best physical preparation formula and to determine the evaluation of a mouthwash made from jatropha leaf extract (Jatropa curcus L) with a combination of lime juice (citus aurantifolia) as a natural mouthwash. The formulation of this preparation is made with variations of lime juice in FI (5%), FII (10%), and FIII (15%). The formulation of jatropha leaf extract mouthwash (Jatropha curcus L) was evaluated by physical tests including organoleptic, pH, clarity and viscosity tests. Jatropha curcus (Jatropha curcus L) mouthwash preparation meets pH, viscosity and organoleptic requirements. From the results of the research I conducted, the best preparation was FIII which had a glycerin concentration (15%) and then had a pH value at week 0: 5.91, week 1: 5.07, week 2: 5 .05 and has a viscosity value of 6.90 Cp, which means this viscosity meets the requirements, while the claritytest results obtained did not produce a clear formulation because the color of the Jatropha leafextract is dark green, so it affects the clarity of the formulation.
