Abstract

The tourism industry is one of the sectors that can accelerate the economic movement in the region, so as to accelerate the growth and regional development. The benefits of the tourism industry at least able to improve the economic level of the tourist area. Kotagede Heritage Area is one of the main tourist destinations in Yogyakarta. Heritage trail tour activities that exist in the area of Kotagede is able to provide historical knowledge. The activity depends on the interest of the people and tourists in choosing tour packages. The research on heritage trail tourist object in Kotagede is using qualitative research method and combined with high-resolution remote sensing image data. The tourism of this Kotagede can be categorized into the resilience of community-based tourism areas in strengthening the local economy as well as and the preservation of cultural resources viewed from various aspects. The first aspect is the wage policy aspect given to the members of the cruise board, from which the youth who become tour guides can get income that can reduce the unemployment rate of the youth. The second aspect is in terms of trade, with the activity of tourism, the surrounding community who use to peddle traditional food to the modern will be a positive impact with the more their wares, especially if it is incorporated into one of the destinations of the tourist route. This aspect of trade can improve the welfare of the surrounding community by making it as a livelihood. The last aspect is the aspect of maintenance and rehabilitation of the infrastructure of the development area by private and government-related stakeholders. This can make the tourist area better and grow so as to increase the willingness of tourists to come to the place if the infrastructure is more compact.

Abstract

Abstract—The natural charm of the small islands in Kepulauan Riau can definitely spoil visitors’ eyes and attract their attention to visit these islands. Pulau Mubut Darat, which is located in Sembulang, Batam, Riau Islands, has become one of several choices of beach tourism areas. However, in the management of tourist sites, the community and managers in particular have not been able to implement ideas and supporting facilities to satisfy the tourists who come to visit so the tourist area of the island of Mubut Darat began to lose competitiveness with other areas. The observation results of the Politeknik Negeri Batam community service team found several ideas that could help improve promotion and tourist attraction on Mubut Darat. One of them is by making a location plan or POI information sign in the Mubut Darat area. The method of making this sign begins with taking pictures of the entire Mubut Darat island. Then, the location points of each building and the facilities available in each area will be mapped and labeled. With the information signpost of the location plan or POI, tourists will get complete information about Mubut Darat. The location plan or POI information sign is expected to be part of the tourist photo icon on Mubut Darat which can promote and attract of tourists to come.

Abstract

APPLICATIONS OF REMOTE SENSING TECHNOLOGY IN COASTAL AND OCEAN Many remote sensing applications are devoted to the coastal and ocean sector. Representative case studies are presented in the special issue “Advances in Remote Sensing of coastal and ocean”. Remote sensing techniques represent a powerful tool for landslide investigation: applications are traditionally sea surface temperature, marine habitat into three main classes, although this subdivision has some limitations and borders are sometimes fuzzy in coastal and ocean. Remote sensing combined with geographic information system (GIS) can be used as a technology tool to obtain information about the object quickly and accurately, including objects in coastal and ocean areas. Remote sensing data on coastal and marine areas specifically for the region in Indonesia have been widely practiced. The use of remote sensing data and GIS in coastal and marine areas can be used to determine sea surface temperature, determination of fish catchment area, and coastline morphological changes by adding other influential parameters. It can also be used to monitor a regional change by using multi-temporal recording data such as disaster monitoring, monitoring of land cover changes in coastal areas etc. Remote sensing data essentially can be used as an alternative technology in obtaining information at a cheaper cost when compared with the conventional way.

Abstract

This community service begins with the understanding that the Geospatial Information Law No. 4 of 2011 mandates that geospatial information must be disseminated and known to the wider community. On the basis of this geospatial information law, community service activities are carried out for coastal communities and small islands regarding the understanding and skills of the Nongsa community, regarding the determination and mapping of fishing areas (MFA), and chlorophyll maps and depth maps, for approaches to Potential locations in the DPI are important so that coastal communities and small islands recognize the potential and spatial problems on Batam Island. This problem will certainly have an impact on the economy of coastal communities, with it being very difficult to determine the location of fishing, which is the main livelihood for the community. This activity includes the development of science and technology to the community, especially in the use of marine technology that can assist in determining fishing areas which will later help and create independence for coastal communities in Mubut Darat in determining fishing spots or areas in the area. The output of this community service program is increasing the understanding and skills of the community in the Nongsa sub-district, Batam regarding the determination and mapping of fishing areas (MFA), providing planks, making maps of fishing areas and developing teaching materials (textbooks) in Batam City. This activity ran smoothly and provided very new knowledge for the people on the island of Batam-Nongsa.

Abstract

Abstract

Urban Heat Island (UHI) is a phenomenon where the surface temperature in urban areas is higher than in the surrounding area or in open-air areas. Hilly city continues to increase every year. Because of that, it needed an effort at the city-level urban heat island on Batam Island. Through the Thermal Landsat 8 channel image recording May 24, 2018 sensing data can be used to complete the heat calculation of the urban heat Island on Batam Island. This research aims to determine the variation of Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect on land cover in the research area. This research uses LST and maximum likelihood multispectral classification for the land cover area and NDVI transformation. The results of the processing are obtained with an R2 value of 0.872324 with a UHI intensity of 0-8.06 ̊ C. This shows the amount needed by Urban Heat Cities in Batam Island specifically in urban areas such as Batu Ampar District, Batam Kota, Bengkong, Batu Aji, Lubuk Baja, Sagulung, and Sekupang

Abstract

Unstable or fluctuating land use changes cause land degradation, reduced absorption capacity, and decreased land value. This study aims to predict land use on Rempang Island in 2029 using the Cellular Automata - Artificial Neural Network method to obtain a spatial picture of land use development, particularly residentials, so that the negative impacts of change can be anticipated early. CA is applied to simulate the spatial dynamics of land use change, and Artificial Neural Network is used to analyze historical data (land use in 2014, 2019, and 2024) and driving factors in predicting future land use changes. The driving factors used are slope inclination, area designation, and disaster risk. Land use change modeling was performed using the MOLUSCE plugin in QGIS software. The results of the study show that land use change in 2029 will experience a decrease in vegetation area of 5,987.15 hectares and open land area of 7,373.78 hectares. Residential and water areas are expected to increase. The residential area will increase to 1,932.32 hectares and the water area will increase to 170.55 hectares. The modeling of predicted land use on Rempang Island in 2029 produced an accuracy value with a strong interpretation of 79.01%.

Abstract

The rapid population growth in Batam City has led to the conversion of green land into a built area to meet residential, industrial, and infrastructure needs. This change in land use has an impact on increasing surface temperature and triggers the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon. UHI is characterized by higher temperatures in urban areas compared to surrounding areas due to changes in land cover. This study aims to identify land surface temperature, UHI phenomenon, building density level (NDBI), and the influence of NDBI on UHI on Batam island. The results showed significant variations in land surface temperatures across the island, with a range between 18°C to 33°C. This temperature difference directly contributes to the formation of the UHI phenomenon on Batam Island. The NDBI map of Batam Island shows that the UHI phenomenon tends to be concentrated in areas with high building densities such as in urban center, industrial and residential areas. The regression results between NDBI and UHI showed the influence of NDBI on UHI by 71%, which shows that the relationship between the UHI and NDBI variables has a positive and proportional relationship. The results also show that the higher the density of the building, the intensity of the UHI will also increase. This study confirms that the increase in building density is the factor that encourages the occurrence of the UHI phenomenon in Batam Island.
