Abstract

Puberty is often experienced by adolescents in relation to psychological changes, including letting go of dependence on parents to achieve greater independence. Adolescents begin to spend more time with their friends, and share less information with their parents. However, support and direction from parents are still needed by adolescents, considering that they will grow into adults with all the complexity of their problems. So parents need to understand the changes that adolescents are experiencing, and how to assist adolescents in dealing with these changes. "Parenting Adolescents: Parent-Teen Communication Training" is aimed to increase parents' understanding of the characteristics of adolescent development and how to communicate with adolescents. The training was conducted through three stages, preparation, implementation, and follow-up. There were 38 parents who have children aged 12-23 years attended training. The training was held face-to-face on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Madrasah Thosin Cikopo, Cipacing Village, Jatinangor District. "Parenting Adolescents: Parent-Teen Communication Training" was considered fun and useful by parents who have teenage children. The parents were satisfied with the material provided, which was in accordance with their needs.

Abstract

Penerapan gaya hidup yang sehat terbukti memiliki dampak positif bagi kesehatan fisik, psikologis,  bahkan sosial. Menerapkan gaya hidup yang sehat menjadi penting terutama pada individu dewasa yang sedang memegang kendali penuh atas kehidupan dan lingkungannya. Di beberapa negara ditemukan hanya sebagian kecil individu dewasa yang menerapkan gaya hidup sehat, namun di Indonesia belum ada penelitian terkait ini. Profil kesehatan di Indonesia sering kali hanya berfokus pada prediksi kematian dan kejadian penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat tingkat gaya hidup sehat individu dewasa berdasarkan karakteristik sosiodemografi (usia, jenis kelamin, status pernikahan, pendidikan, pekerjaan, pendapatan ekonomi, jumlah anak, usia anak pertama, serta kondisi medis atau psikologis). Pemilihan sampel dilakukan dengan metode convenience sampling dan pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menyebarkan survei daring menggunakan software PsyToolkit. Gaya hidup sehat diukur menggunakan kuesioner Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile-II (HPLP-II) versi bahasa Indonesia dengan reliabilitas sebesar α = 0.945. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji beda Mann-Whitney dan Kruskal Wallis. Penelitian ini melibatkan 223 orang dewasa (18 hingga 63 tahun). Secara keseluruhan, hasil memperlihatkan bahwa 43.49% partisipan memiliki gaya hidup sehat yang sedang dan 48.43% memiliki gaya hidup sehat yang baik. Penelitian menemukan bahwa usia dan pendapatan ekonomi merupakan karakteristik sosiodemografi yang dapat memengaruhi perbedaan  tingkat gaya hidup sehat.

Abstract

Studies showed that gratitude can be used as an approach to prevent adolescent mental health problems. The concept of gratitude that was used generally refered to a concept from Western culture or a concept applied to adults. This study aimed to explore the concept of gratitude in early adolescents using qualitative methods. Respondents consisted of 22 boys and 45 girls aged 12 to 15 years. The instrument used was open-ended questionnaire about the meanings, objects, forms of expression, along with the affective sides of gratitude. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The result of this study indicated that the concept of gratitude interpreted by early adolescents was represented by four major categories, namely thanking and praising God, accepting, enjoying, and appreciating. The object of gratitude were gifts of God, valuable objects, academic achievements, and social relations. Whereas expressions of gratitude were expressed by praying, verbalizing, worshiping God, developing oneself, and doing positive things to others. These finding showed that the concept of gratitude for early adolescents in Indonesia is closely related to divinity and morals but still intact with the characteristics of adolescent development.

Abstract

Berprestasi di bidang olahraga umumnya dikaitkan dengan atlet yang memiliki fisik yang sehat dan sempurna. Namun, kesempurnaan fisik bukan lagi syarat utama sebab kini telah banyak individu dengan disabilitas fisik yang menjadi atlet kemudian berhasil menampakkan eksistensi dirinya sebagai sosok yang menginspirasi. Penelitian yang menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif-fenomenologis ini bertujuan untuk memahami makna hidup atlet dengan disabilitas fisik yang mampu berprestasi di bidang olahraga. Tiga orang atlet disabilitas fisik yang telah meraih medali emas dalam kejuaraan nasional menjadi partisipan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa ketiga partisipan atlet memandang hidupnya sama, bahkan lebih baik dari orang dengan fisik yang normal. Partisipan memaknai hidup dengan kebersyukuran atas kondisi mereka yang masih lebih beruntung dibandingkan orang lain dalam hal fisik. Dukungan sosial yang diperoleh dari banyak pihak utamanya keluarga menjadi sumber kekuatan utama bagi para atlet ini sehingga bisa memaknai hidupnya secara positif dan bisa tetap tetap gigih menorehkan prestasi bagi diri sendiri dan masyarakat sekitar

Abstract

Adolescent psychological well-being has emerged as a global concern. This cross-sectional study investigates the relationship between parental attachment and the psychological well-being of adolescents residing in an Islamic boarding school in West Java. A total of 313 participants, aged 11-18, were included in this supervised online survey, comprising 133 boys and 180 girls. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson correlation tests and regression analysis. The findings reveal a significant positive correlation between parental attachment and adolescents' psychological well-being. These results offer valuable insights into the unique context of Islamic boarding schools, carrying significant implications for educators, parents, and policymakers. This association underscores the fundamental role of establishing trust and emotional connections between parents and adolescents, particularly prior to considering enrollment in Islamic boarding schools. Furthermore, these findings hold importance for educators and policymakers in designing policies within Islamic boarding schools that support well-being. Abstrak: Kesejahteraan psikologis remaja telah menjadi perhatian global. Studi cross-sectional ini menyelidiki hubungan antara keterikatan orang tua dan kesejahteraan psikologis remaja yang tinggal di pondok pesantren di Jawa Barat. Sebanyak 313 partisipan berusia 11-18 tahun berpartisipasi dalam survei daring dengan pengawasan, terdiri dari 133 laki-laki dan 180 perempuan. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson dan analisis regresi. Hasil temuan menunjukkan adanya korelasi positif yang signifikan antara keterikatan orang tua dan kesejahteraan psikologis remaja. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan wawasan yang berharga, menyoroti konteks unik pesantren, dan membawa implikasi penting bagi pendidik, orang tua, dan pembuat kebijakan. Asosiasi ini menggarisbawahi peran penting dalam membangun kepercayaan dan hubungan emosional antara orang tua dan remaja, terutama sebelum mempertimbangkan pendaftaran di pondok pesantren. Selain itu, temuan ini juga penting bagi pendidik dan pembuat kebijakan dalam merancang kebijakan di pesantren yang mendukung kesejahteraan santri.

Abstract

This research further examines and analyzes the fulfillment of the basic psychological needs of subjective wellbeing of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah children through Eudaimonic Activities. The mixed methods design used in this research provides a strong framework for capturing the diverse nature of children's experiences with eudaimonic activities. This research was carried out at Jatinagor Elementary School. The population is fifth-grade students at Jatinagor Elementary School. The sampling technique used in data collection is convenience sampling. Participants in this study were pre-adolescent students aged 11 to 12 years. The number of participants in this study was 81 children. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the overall score obtained from the BPNFS and SPANE measuring instruments and then averaging them. The interesting finding was that playing online games was a common form of entertainment among the participants. This suggests that digital play can be an important aspect of children's lives, potentially contributing to their eudaimonic wellbeing if managed appropriately. These insights pave the way for further research into how online games can be integrated into educational environments in ways that support children's developmental needs. Additionally, the results of this study provide concrete examples of eudaimonic activities, which can be invaluable for educators and parents who wish to understand and develop children's innate potential.

Abstract

Me time holds significance for personal enjoyment and relaxation, yet its exploration, particularly among Indonesian mothers, is limited. This qualitative study interviewed three full-time working mothers (aged 28, 30 and 36) to understand their perceptions in me time allocation before marriage, after marriage, and after having children. Thematic analysis identified six major themes: a) the importance of me time, b) factors hindering it, c) diverse interpretations, d) activities pursued, e) repercussions of inadequate me time, and f) coping strategies employed. This study underscores the significance of dedicating me time as a means to alleviate the stress experienced in day-to-day life. Maternal individuals exhibit an adaptive inclination to tailor their approach to personal time management in light of the demands imposed by motherhood. This research effectively accentuates the necessity of prioritizing me time to enhance holistic well-being and fortitude when confronted with maternal responsibilities.

Abstract

Seiring dengan situasi pandemi COVID-19, media massa didominasi dengan pemberitaan mengenai perkembangan COVID-19, baik berita positif maupun negatif. Munculnya berbagai berita ini berperan besar dalam memicu kecemasan, terutama berita yang bersifat negatif. Atas dasar hal tersebut, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan melihat pengaruh jenis berita perkembangan COVID-19 (positif, negatif, dan netral) terhadap tingkat kecemasan mahasiswa. Pendekatan metode eksperimental menggunakan rancangan simple randomized pretest-posttest design. Responden merupakan 75 mahasiswa (laki-laki=9, perempuan=66), dibagi menjadi kelompok eksperimen A (diberikan berita negatif, n= 26), kelompok eksperimen B (diberikan berita positif, n= 25) dan kelompok kontrol (diberikan berita netral, n= 24). Kecemasan responden diukur sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan menggunakan Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS) dan Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7). Hasil uji one-way ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan selisih tingkat kecemasan yang signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen A, eksperimen B, dan kontrol (F(2)=0,1468, p>0,05). Tidak adanya perbedaan yang signifikan disebabkan oleh tidak munculnya setelah membaca berita. Emotional arousal tidak muncul dikarenakan pengalaman responden mendapatkan paparan berulang berita negatif sebelum penelitian dan karena perbedaan individu dalam pengalaman emotional arousal. Dengan demikian, dampak paparan berita negatif pada kesehatan mental tidak terlalu signifikan setelah pandemik COVID-19 dialami cukup lama.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period that is complex and full of emotional conflicts. This study aims to determine whether the three good things intervention can improve subjective well-being in adolescents. The participants were 38 students of SMK PGRI Jatinangor, Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), and Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) were used to measure the students' subjective well-being and then analyzed using paired sample t-test. The results show that there is no difference in subjective well-being within the experiment group who get the three good things intervention after and before. Thus, it can be inferred that there is no significant effect of the three good things intervention on subjective well-being in adolescents.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran kepuasan kebutuhan psikologis dasar sebagai mediator dalam hubungan antara penggunaan aktif Instagram dan kesejahteraan psikologis remaja. Partisipan penelitian berjumlah 269 remaja berusia 13–17 tahun (laki-laki = 89, perempuan = 180; M = 15.12; SD = 1.51) yang seluruhnya memiliki akun Instagram. Penggunaan aktif Instagram diukur menggunakan Passive and Active Use Measure (PAUM), kesejahteraan psikologis remaja diukur dengan Mental Health Inventory (MHI-38) dan kepuasan kebutuhan psikologis dasar diukur dengan Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction Frustration Scale (BPNSFS). Hasil analisis mediasi menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aktif Instagram berhubungan positif dengan kesejahteraan psikologis remaja, dengan kepuasan kebutuhan psikologis dasar sebagai mediator parsial (direct effect = .24, p < .001; indirect effect = .22, p < .001; total effect = .46, p < .001). Temuan ini mengungkapkan bahwa keterlibatan aktif remaja di Instagram dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan psikologis mereka, baik secara langsung maupun melalui pemenuhan kebutuhan psikologis dasar. Implikasi dari hasil ini adalah bahwa fasilitasi keterlibatan aktif dan bermakna remaja di Instagram dapat menjadi strategi penting untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan psikologis mereka.
