Abstract

TRAINING AND MOTIVATION OF SMAN 1 PANGALENGAN STUDENTS IN IMPROVING ACADEMIC CAREERS: ADVANCED HIGHER EDUCATION STUDIES. Training and academic motivation are crucial efforts to encourage high school students, particularly in remote areas such as Pangalengan, to pursue higher education. This study aims to raise awareness and motivation among students of SMAN 1 Pangalengan regarding the importance of continuing their studies to the university level. Through a participatory method with a qualitative descriptive approach, the program involved training and the dissemination of information about academic career pathways, including details on university entrance exams and scholarship opportunities. The results of the training indicated a significant improvement in the students' understanding and motivation. Before the training, 65% of students had limited knowledge about university admission pathways, but after the training, 85% of students reported an increased understanding. Additionally, the students' motivation to pursue higher education rose from 45% before the training to 78.6% afterward. These findings also demonstrate that the training successfully enhanced students' confidence in planning their academic careers. This program is expected to serve as an initial step in increasing student participation in higher education and assisting them in making appropriate academic career choices.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze speech acts in the YouTube Podcast Warung Kopi (PWK) episode of Brandon Salim which was released on October 29 2023, in order to improve students' listening skills. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method that describes symptoms, facts, or events, systematically and accurately. Qualitative descriptive is a method that utilizes qualitative data and explains it descriptively. The results of the analysis show that there are 24 types of speech acts in the podcast, including locutionary, illocutionary, assessive, directive, expressive, commissive, declaration, and perlocutionary. Accessive speech acts are the most dominant with 12 utterances, followed by illocutionary acts with 11 utterances. The use of various types of speech acts reflects the diversity and complexity of communication in the podcast. This analysis reveals that understanding and practicing various speech acts can help students listen more carefully and critically,

Abstract

Less interactive learning becomes boring for students. A teacher should choose a learning model and learning media that are appropriate and appropriate. The learning model that is considered appropriate will be more productive in the classroom, one of which is by using the Project Based Learning learning model. This learning model focuses on student activities to be able to solve problems, and requires students to be more independent in their learning activities, and the help of padlet media can also be a supporter in learning, especially in writing poetry. The method used is a mixed method with an exploratory sequential design. The subjects of this study were grade VIII students. The purpose of this study was to describe a better learning process and can provide student creativity to be able to develop critical and creative thinking skills, and complete projects individually or in groups. Observations showed that teacher implementation was 100%. The obstacles faced were relatively minimal with the lowest average of 2.45. The results of the N-Gain calculation showed moderate results with an acquisition of 0.64. From the results of the study, it can be interpreted that the models and media used were effective in learning.
