Abstract

Adopting cloth bags over single-use plastic bags is a significant consumer behavior. Employing the theory of of planned and interpersonal behavior, this study aimed to understand the relationship between customers' intentions to use cloth bags and their awareness of the environmental impact of plastic bags. Through purposive sampling, 277 individuals born after 1980 and making at least one to three in-person retail and Internet purchases each month were selected as participants. The data were processed using descriptive and quantitative analysis tools using SEM (Structural Equation Model) analysis. The findings reveal that creating the next generation of habit bags can significantly enhance social awareness of plastic bag usage and the environment. However, no evidence suggests that the EAPB increases the intention to use cloth bags. The more the SP and SBPB intervene, the more the IUCB contributes to changing consumer behavior to use fewer plastic bags. Therefore, Habit Bag Use can positively influence pro-environmental behavior, as this study combined the theory of Interpersonal Behavior and the theory of Planned Behavior. These results contribute to the theoretical framework for understanding how the millennial generation's interpersonal conduct, reflected in their bag-using behaviors, influences their behavior in minimizing plastic bag usage. These findings imply that the adoption of single-use or non-plastic bag habits can motivate people to reduce their usage of plastic bags, a behavior that is further encouraged by laws prohibiting the use of plastic bags.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of halal tourism on the economy of East Java, Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative approach. The findings show that the halal tourism industry has a positive effect on the culinary, hospitality, and transportation sectors, as well as creating new jobs. East Java's diverse tourist destinations, government support, and public awareness of the importance of sharia tourism have contributed to the growth of the halal tourism industry. However, challenges such as infrastructure and facilities, the quality of halal tourism services need to be overcome. The research implications suggest that the government and tourism industry players must intensify their efforts to meet the demands of Muslim tourists by increasing the quality and quantity of facilities such as halal hotels and restaurants, providing information and services that are easily accessible to tourists, and increasing training and certification of tourism industry players. The study concluded that the progress of halal tourism in East Java could have a wider positive impact. The originality of the research lies in the local context of East Java, which can yield different results. Additionally, East Java has the second-best economic growth in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

To maintain environmental sustainability can be managed and resolved by changing human behavior, especially by reducing plastic waste. This study investigated whether natural environmental orientation, environmental knowledge, environmental concern, and environmental attitude affect the extent to which millennials avoid or reduce the purchase of single-use plastic tableware, food with plastic packaging, and plastic water bottles called Willingness to Reduce Plastic Waste (WRPW). This study used quantitative using the purposive sampling method. Data collection techniques using online questionnaires were sent to respondents with criteria for educated millennial Muslims at Islamic universities in East Java, Central Java, and West Java. The survey was conducted for three months and obtained 369 respondents. The questionnaire is processed by using SEM analysis with Smart PLS. The results show that environmental knowledge provides a direct and an indirect effect on willingness to reduce plastic waste through environmental attitude. Meanwhile, environmental concern has no direct effect on willingness to reduce plastic waste, yet it has an indirect effect through environmental attitude. This research implies that concern for the environment is not necessarily accompanied by the willingness to reduce the use of plastic. However, adequate knowledge about the environment can increase the willingness to reduce the use of plastic among millennial generations who prioritize logical thinking and adapt to their knowledge.

Abstract

Brand community has been extensively built and developed by either the companies or the customers voluntarily. These two gorups with different perspective hold different purposes. For the companies, brand community is considered an effective marketing strategy which is expected to achieve customer brand engagement. Anyhow, often companies focus more on the purposes of the brand community, but do not be quite aware of the policies, rules, or traditions firstly created as norms in order to lead the way the community members perceive and act. Often norms become pressures for the brand community members causing them reluctant to engage with he community. Referring to the theory of relationship marketing, this study develops a model of normative community pressure that is affected by both brand community identification and inter-member relationship quality, that are previously affected by brand relationship quality. The empirical analysis derives primary data of young entrepreneurship community created by one of the big five banks in Indonesia quantitatively analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (Warp-PLS). The result helps explain the antecedents causing normative community pressure of the brand community. The implication of this study is that communitfy setter should regularly identify and analyze rules or practices within the community that might be potential barrier for the members in building engagement with the community.

Abstract

Fraud remains a persistent challenge for organizations in Indonesia, particularly within the logistics industry, which is characterized by complex operations and a high reliance on trust among parties. This study aims to identify the dynamics of employee trust betrayal and patterns of fraudulent behavior in Indonesian organizations. Employing an exploratory case study approach, the research analyzed internal corporate documents, including investigation reports, disciplinary records, and compliance policies from logistics sectors. The findings reveal a rising trend in fraud cases from 2019 to 2024, strongly linked to post-pandemic economic pressures, weak internal controls, and moral rationalization by offenders. Demographic analysis indicates that most perpetrators are early-career male employees under special contract status, suggesting a correlation between employment instability and unethical conduct. Theoretically, this study contributes to the literature by integrating Agency Theory and Fraud Triangle Theory to explain the behavioral roots of organizational fraud. Practically, it underscores the importance of integrity-based governance, multilayered monitoring, and an ethical culture that prioritizes accountability and transparency.
