Abstract

Margohayu village is one of the regions in the Karangawen Subdistrict, Demak Regency, Central Java. Desa Margohayu has a population of 8,056, with the majority working as farmers. Currently, the irrigation of rice fields in Desa Margohayu still relies on fossil fuel-based energy, which gradually depletes and has environmental consequences. However, Desa Margohayu has significant potential to establish a self-sustaining energy system by harnessing solar energy. Sunlight can be converted into electricity through solar panels to power water pumps. Therefore, the Community Service Team from Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang proposes an environmentally friendly and sustainable technology implementation in the agricultural sector through the Margo Mulyo Farmer Group in Desa Margohayu. The goal is to reduce the negative impact of fossil fuel usage that has been prevalent. The results of this initiative show that the Margo Mulyo Farmer Group gains knowledge and skills related to solar energy utilization. The implementation of this technology is expected to reduce agricultural costs, particularly in the irrigation process.

Abstract

The Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) of Semarang City has an MSME Development Institute (LP). This institution has a specific mission in developing MSMEs in growing, mobilizing, improving and empowering the potential of MSMEs in the national and global business arena. This community service activity is to implement a distributed system to develop the creative industry and encourage entrepreneurship in the field of digital technology and innovation and can increase responsible consumption and production in terms of halal consumer products for Muhammadiyah MSMEs in Semarang City. This activity includes socialization, training on system operation, implementation, mentoring and monitoring. The results show that the implementation of the system can document the data of MSMEs well by 75%, halal product certification for MSMEs increased by 80%, and skills in operating the system are increasing, based on the satisfaction level reaching 91% after the activity. This program proves that utilizing technology can provide convenience in verifying data for the halal certification process and increase security and reduce the risk of data loss.

Abstract

Glesungrejo Village, located in Baturetno Subdistrict, Wonogiri Regency, possesses considerable agricultural potential, with the majority of its population engaged in farming. Nevertheless, this potential has not yet provided optimal contributions to the local economy due to limitations in managing agricultural products to enhance their added value. This condition underscores the need for integrative strategies that can link the utilization of natural resources with the strengthening of the local economy in a sustainable manner. Through a grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology under the Community Empowerment scheme, the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Technology, Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (BEM FSTP UNIMUS), initiated a program to develop innovations in local agricultural products. The program involved the Women Farmers’ Group (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT) as the primary partner in improving product quality and added value, with a focus on the flagship commodity of black rice. The outcomes demonstrated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of black rice processing, ranging from drying using a cabinet dryer, flour production, to the formulation of food products such as cookies, snack bars, muffins, and herbal beverages. In addition to technical skill enhancement, participants were also able to operate production equipment independently. The establishment of micro-enterprises and the emergence of local cadres as community facilitators serve as indicators of the program’s success in fostering socio-economic empowerment based on post-harvest innovation. Overall, this initiative contributes to strengthening community capacity and enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural products.

Abstract

Food security in West Java Province exhibits significant variation across regencies/cities, influenced by differences in socioeconomic conditions, health, and sanitation. This condition necessitates an analytical approach based on regional clustering to support the formulation of more precise policies. This study aims to cluster regions based on the Food Security Index (FSI) and to evaluate the performance of K-Means and Hierarchical Clustering (Ward) in producing an optimal cluster structure. The data used comprised 27 regencies/cities with eight standardized FSI indicators. Cluster quality was evaluated using the Silhouette Coefficient and the Davies-Bouldin Index. The results indicate that the optimal FSI structure is divided into three clusters, each exhibiting distinct regional characteristics. Both methods produced consistent patterns; however, K-Means demonstrated superior performance to Ward, yielding a Silhouette Coefficient of 0.3048 and a Davies-Bouldin Index of 1.0725, which were respectively higher and lower than those obtained by Ward (0.2806 and 1.1241). This finding indicates the superiority of K-Means in forming more compact and well-separated clusters within relatively homogeneous data. Further analysis reveals that disparities in food security are primarily influenced by access to sanitation, poverty, education, and the ratio of health workers. This study provides empirical evidence on the effectiveness of clustering methods for FSI analysis and offers a regional clustering framework capable of supporting data-driven food security policy formulation at the regional level.

Abstract

PT Jasa Marga is a large company in Indonesia that develop and operation the toll roads and is known as one of the blue chip companies with LQ45 shares. However, share prices have high volatility or rise and fall quickly so their value is always changing. Therefore, forecasting is needed to predict the share price of PT Jasa Marga in the future in order to know the movement of its share price. The Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) method is a method that can predict data with high volatility, but has the disadvantage of residuals containing heteroscedasticity. So, the addition of the Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) model was carried out to overcome the heteroscedasticity problem that was initially caused by the ARIMA model so it could predict data with high volatility more optimally. Therefore, this research applies the ARIMA-GARCH method to find the best model for forecasting the daily share price index of PT Jasa Marga. The data used comes from the daily closing stock price index of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) for the period January 2015 to May 2023. The measurement of forecasting accuracy uses the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). The forecasting results show that the best model uses ARIMA (2,1,1) - GARCH (1,3) with a MAPE value of 6.825728%, which indicates very good forecasting results because the MAPE value is <10%.

Abstract

Tuna (Euthynnus affinis) is one of the most important fisheries commodities in Indonesia with significant economic value, especially in its contribution to fisheries export revenue. However, the price of tuna experiences significant fluctuations that can affect local and national economic stability. This study analyzes the daily price fluctuations of tuna in the North Sumatra market from January 1, 2024 to April 29, 2024 using a time series analysis approach. Daily price data were collected and analyzed to identify existing price patterns and volatility. The Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (ARCH) model was selected to address the heteroscedasticity in the data, which suggests that the volatility of tuna prices can be well predicted based on past price behavior. The analysis steps include identifying the optimal ARCH model using the Autocorrelation Function (ACF) and Partial Autocorrelation Function (PACF), as well as testing parameter significance and normality assumptions to validate the model fit. The results show that the ARMA (1,0,0) model is the optimal one to model the price volatility of yellow tuna with the MAPE obtained of 2.382. compared to the ARMA-ARCH method with the MAPE value obtained of 2,747. Because it still contains heteroskedasticity effects, even though the results are good, the prediction results do not closely match the original data. The model is effective in improving price forecasting accuracy, which is important to support decision-making in risk management and economic planning in the fisheries sector. The findings contribute to understanding the dynamics of the yellowtail market and optimizing strategies for fisheries management.
