Abstract

The purpose of this analysis is to expose the issue about seizing liberty which is done by a slave in America and to know the contribution of the plot, setting, and character in revealing the issue of seizing liberty. This analysis is related to the psychoanalysis theory developed by Sigmund Freud and the concept of self-awareness by Crisp and Turner that are supported by the text and context based interpretation. The result of this analysis shows the efforts of a young slave woman to get free from slavery that can be seen from taking opportunities smartly and enhancing curiosity.

Abstract

This thesis is an analysis of the novel Snow Hunters (2013) by Paul Yoon. This analysis aims to show the extent to which the contribution of fictional elements (character, settings, and plot / conflict) gives an idea of how the main character suffering from PTSD can get his life back. This can be seen from how the main character adapts and works hard in a new place for the sake of changing his life for the better. This analysis is also based on the concept of Sublimation from Sigmund Freud. The results of this analysis show that the main character with his efforts was able to regain his life after suffering from PTSD.

Abstract

The purposes of this analysis are to expose the issue about the acts of demolishing stereotypes which is done by African-American man and to know the contribution of the narrator, plot and setting in revealing the acts of demolishing stereotypes. This analysis is related to the concept of orientalismby Edward W. Said that is supported by the text and context based interpretation. The result of this analysis shows the actions of an African-American man who struggles to demolish the negative stereotypesthat can be seen from his efforts to live as an independent person andhave good behavior.

Abstract

The purpose of this analysis are to expose the issue about criminal jurisdiction which is done by Soviet Government and to know the contribution of the implied author in revealing criminal jurisdiction. This analysis is related to the concept of power by Michel Foucault that is supported by the text and context based interpretation. The result of this analysis shows the Soviet Government commits the criminal jurisdiction  that can be seen from hiding the truth and ignoring the cictims of nuclear explosion.

Abstract

This study is aimed to expose the issue about the hazard toward nature which is done by human through poetic elements and figurative language; speaker, imagery and symbol in revealing the hazard toward nature. This analysis related to concept of eco-criticism by Kent Rayden, Barry and Ikkiara. The result of this analysis shows that the hazard toward nature is done in two ways; animal abuse and deforestation.

Abstract

The purpose of this analysis is to expose the issue of eliminating segregation which is done by an 11-year-old girl and to know the contribution of the setting, plot and character in revealing the eliminating segregation. This analysis is related to the concept of life instincts by Sigmund Freud, the concept of self-determination by Ryan and Deci, that is supported by the text and context based interpretation. The result of this analysis shows the protagonist to eliminate the segregation by changing mindset and having good behaviour.

Abstract

The purpose of this analysis is to expose the issue about wrestling with schizophrenia which is done by protagonist and to know the contribution of setting, character and plot in revealing the issue about wrestling with schizophrenia. This analysis is related to the medical theory of schizophrenia and the concept of id, ego, and superego by Sigmund Freud. This analysis is supported by the text and context based interpretation. The result of this analysis shows the protagonist succeeds in wrestling with schizophrenia through self-controlling and socializing with others.

Abstract

Abstrak Naskah film “The Truman Show” (1998) yang ditulis oleh Andrew M. Niccol membahas tentang mesin dari hasrat dan keinginan kapitalis. Hal ini menonjolkan kekuatan dan kekuasaan kapitalis di dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Manusia dan klingkungannya merupakan mesin-mesin yang dimanfaatkan kapitalis untuk mendapatkan keinginannya, yaitu berupa laba yang besar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkapkan seberapa jauh naskah film tersebut memperlihatkan kekuatan kapitalis untuk memperalat manusia menjadi mesin mereka. Abstract

Skripsi ini merupakan analisa dari tiga puisi berjudul Immigrant in Our Own Land, Young and Innocent dan Because THIS is a Revolution. Topik yang dibahas adalah bagaimana politik othering yang dimainkan oleh pemerintah Amerika terhadap para imigran. Permasalahan dari analisa ini adalah bagaimana batasan-batasan dalam bidang pekerjaan dan pendidikan yang diciptakan oleh Amerika terhadap imigran. Tujuan dari analisa ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana elemen puisi (ironi dan imajeri) memberikan kontribusi dalam mengungkap politik othering terhadap imigran di Amerika. Analisa dilakukan dengan cara menginterpretasi teks dan konteks yang dikaitkan dengan konsep otherness dan orientalism oleh Homi K. Bhaba dan Edward Said. Hasil dari analisa ini menunjukan bahwa para imigran akan selalu mengalami diskriminasi. Mereka tidak bisa mendapatkan pekerjaan dan pendidikan yang layak hanya karena status mereka sebagai imigran ilegal. Analisa ini juga membuktikan bahwa hal yang sama juga terjadi di dunia nyata. Amerika cenderung untuk menerapkan bermacam peraturan untuk menyaring imigran yang datang.

Abstract

This study is aimed to expose the issue about the ecological destruction which is done by people toward the nature and to know the contribution of poetic elements; irony, tone, and speaker in revealing the issue of ecological destruction. This analysis is related to the concept of eco-criticism by Garrard, Glotfelty, Michael P Cohen, and John Evelyn. The result of this analysis shows that the ecological destruction is done in two ways; exploitation and technological abuse.
