Abstract

This study was motivated by problems found, that is the lack of variation in English learning models for deaf children. The research aimed to analyze and examine the explicit instruction learning model, whether the explicit instruction learning model can be applied to the learning of giftbox making skills for deaf students.  This type of research was library research by exploring a variety of library information (books, encyclopedias, scientific journals, newspapers, magazines, and documents) with the aim of obtaining information about the use of explicit instruction learning models.  The results of this analysis indicated that there was the influence of explicit instruction learning models in improving the learning process of students, one of them was skills learning.  It can be concluded that the use of explicit instruction learning models was effective and can improve the ability of deaf students to understand learning skills in making giftboxes.

Abstract

Pengguna implan koklea pada anak tunarungu haruslah dimanfaatkan sebagai mana mestinya, yaitu dapat menguasai kosakata sebagai alat untuk berkomunikasi. Melalui pemberian media pembelajaran video komunikasi total diharapkan penguasaan koskata anak meningkat.Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen yang berbentuk Single Subject Research (SSR) dengan desain garfik A-B-A. Subjek penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah seorang anak tunarungu berjenis kelamin laki-laki yang duduk di kelas II SDLB. Data diukur menggunakan persentase untuk melihat anak dapat mengucapkan kata benda. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi langsung. Penelitian ini dianalisis dalam bentuk penyajian analisis visual dan grafik.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan beserta kendala dan upaya mengatasi pelaksanaan program Non Speech Oral Motor Exercises (NSOMEs) bagi anak cerebral palsy. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Terapis wicara di Yayasan Special Kids and Special Education Pekanbaru merupakan subjek penelitian ini. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Keabsahaan data menggunakan triangulasi teknik dan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian ini adalah program NSOMEs terlaksana secara pasif dengan dominan kepada fungsional oral motor. Program NSOMEs dilaksanakan 2 kali seminggu dengan durasi 1 jam tiap pertemuan. Pelaksanaan program NSOMEs meliputi massage, jaw exercise, lip closure, tounge elevation, dan open close mouth. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan fungsional oral motor walau tidak signifikan. Kendala dalam menyusun program NSOMEs dan kesulitan orang tua menjalankan program NSOMEs di rumah. Solusinya adalah diperlukannya kreatifitas terapis wicara untuk menyusun program NSOMEs dengan sistematis dan mengupayakan diskusi bersama orang tua untuk dapat mengulangi kegiatan terapi di rumah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini memaparkan tentang peningkatan pembelajaran mengenal benda peninggalan sejarah dengan menggunakan field trip method bagi anak tunadaksa kelas IV. Permasalahan yang ditemukan peneliti di kelas IV SLB Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping adanya tiga orang anak tunadaksa yang berinsial M, R dan Y, dimana anak belum memahami materi pembelajaran mengenal benda peninggalan sejarah. Proses dalam pembelajaran guru menggunakan metode ceramah dan menggunakan media berupa kartu gambar yang diperlihatkan kepada anak. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk melihat proses pelaksanaan mengenalkan benda peninggalan sejarah dengan menggunakan field trip method dan melihat apakah dengan menggunakan field trip method dapat terjadinya peningkatan pembelajaran mengenal benda peninggalan sejarah kepada anak cerebral palsy. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian tindakan kelas, penelitian terbagi menjadi dua siklus, yang setiap siklusnya terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian ini dideskripsikan dalam bentuk narasi yang dilengkapi dengan grafik dari hasil peninggkatan pembelajaran mengenal benda peninggalan sejarah. pelaksanaan dalam siklus I anak memproleh hasil M 51%, R 62% dan Y 55%. Pelaksanaan dalam siklus II anak memperoleh hasil M 85%, R 89% dan Y 86%. Dari perolehan hasil dapat disimpulkan bahwa dapat terjadinya peningkatan pembelajaran mengenal benda peninggalan sejarah dengan menggunakan field trip method bagi anak tunadaksa.

Abstract

This paper discusses about improving life skills for students with hearing impairment by providing the skills of entrepreneurship to make cookies. The skills of making cookies for the teachers who teaching the students with hearing impairment in Padang is expected to be a source of income that can finance the life of the students. This research used case study approach which is reseacher analyzed the problem and managed the elternative solution. Implementation methods of this training included lectures, demonstrations and training, as well as mentoring and monitoring and evaluation. The results show that the entrepreneur of pastries training can increase the ability of life of  students with hearing impairment. In addition, the economic value of making cookies has  high expected to provide the maximum benefit for the students with hearing impairment.

Abstract

The background of this research found problems in the learning system in schools from face-to-face learning to distance learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic, both regular schools and special schools (SLB). This study aims to describe how the planning, implementation, supporting factors and inhibiting factors for the implementation of distance learning for deaf children in SLB Al Azhar Bukittinggi. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The results showed that: 1) Planning by compiling a program includes essential materials and the ability of teachers to use technology, 2) Implementation using online and offline methods with a strategy of utilizing technology, 3) Supporting factors include collaboration between schools and parents, assistance from the school and free quota assistance from the government, 4) The inhibiting factors for implementing distance learning are parents who have permanent jobs, parents who do not understand the task, and where students live who find it difficult to get an internet network.

Abstract

Premarital education for students is considered necessary because, at this time, a person must be prepared to enter married life. Premarital education is one of the preparations that can be done by early adults in marriage and has a goal in preventing divorce. This study aims to formulate a hypothetical comprehensive guidance and counselling program to improve students' self-readiness in facing marriage and family life. This type of research is development research or Research and Development methods, namely research strategies used to produce specific products. This research will be conducted at Padang State University, namely to students of Special Education, Faculty of Education. The results of this study are (1) In general, special education department’s students of the Faculty of Education, Padang State University, as early adults, have less interest in preparing for their marriage. (2) The comprehensive premarital guidance and counselling model for students developed in this study is formulated from a theoretical framework based on field findings, consisting of 7 rational components, key concepts, vision & mission, model objectives, the content of guidance and counselling, control, and organization & personnel. (3) Based on the model validation test conducted by three counsellors on the General Guidelines for the Development of Comprehensive Premarital Guidance and Models for Students, it shows that the contents of the general guidelines are categorized as suitable or adequate.

Abstract

The unpreparedness of parents in taking care of the interests of children with autism will make children continue backward and not ready for the future. In such conditions, it is necessary to support for parents in caring for children with autism. This study was conducted aiming to provide support to parents of children with autism so that the problems arising from the existence of an autistic child can be minimized or even eliminated together. In addition, this research can also be used as a reference for parents who have children with autism in an effort to maintenance and cure children with autism. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Qualitative research is considered more appropriate to determine the family counseling program for parents who have children with autism in the Autism Institute YPPA Padang. The approach used in this study is deemed appropriate for understanding and motivating parents of children with autism with all complexity as subjective beings.

Abstract

The common issue found in children with hyperactive autism is their excessive mobility, like running around and disturbing their peers in the classroom. As a consequence, they cannot sit still for two minutes. This research aims to examine whether finger painting activity can improve the sitting tolerance of children with hyperactive autism. This research used a single-subject research method. The subject selected for this research was a child with autism. Findings from the research showed that finger painting activity could improve children’s sitting tolerance from 2.5 minutes to 30 minutes. Therefore finger painting has effectively improved the sitting tolerance of children with autism.

Abstract

Guru-guru Sekolah Luar Biasa dan  Sekolah Dasar penyelenggara pendidikan inklusi di Bukitinggi perlu memahami cara melakukan asesmen dan mengusun program pembelajaran individual bagi peserta didik berkebutuhan khusus sesuai dengan hasil asesmen. Sedangkan guru-guru tersebut dituntut untuk mampu dan terampil dalam menyusun program pembelajaran individual berdasarkan hasil asesmen agar perkembangan akademik maupun non akademik peserta didik berkebutuhan khusus berkembang dengan baik. Program PembeIajaran Individual merupakan uraian kegiatan-kegiatan dalam bidang pendidikan dalam rangka memenuhi kebutuhan khusus individu peserta didik dan menguraikan bentuk pelayanan pendidikan yang dirancang secara rinci untuk menemukan kebutuhan khusus dalam bidang pendidikan bagi peserta didik berkebutuhan khusus, jadi disini terlihat ada upaya yang sengaja  dirancang untuk menutupi kelemahan yang dihadapi  peserta didik dalam proses pendidikan di sekolah. Hasil pantauan dan evaluasi yang dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian dapat di paparkan bahwa kegiatan pembelajaran indivdual telah berjalan dengan baik dan sesuai dengan program pembelajaran invividual yang telah di latihkan. Sehingga semua guru sangat merasa puas dan senang dengan materi yang diperolehnya serta berterima kasih pada Tim pengabdian telah memberikan pengetahuan yang sangat bermanfaat untuk memberikan pelayanan pendidikan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan anak dalam melaksanakan kegiatan proses pembelajaran bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus. Pada akhirnya guru telah mampu dan mahir dalam melakukan identifikasi, asesmen dan menyusun program pembelajaran berdasarkan hasil asesmen pada anak berkebutuhan khusus agar sesuai  program yang sudah dirancang sesuai dengan kemampuan anak berdasarkan asesmen .
