Abstract

This research was motivated by the low listening ability of fifth-grade students, which was caused by the use of inappropriate teaching materials. To address this, listening materials based on audio-visual media were developed, integrating positive character education to improve students’ listening skills. The objective of this development was to produce valid, practical, and effective teaching materials. This research was research and development (R&D) utilizing the 4-D model, consisting of the stages of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. Data on validity were obtained through RPP validation sheets and teaching materials, while practicality data were collected through lesson plan implementation, observation sheets, and teacher and student response questionnaires. Effectiveness was measured from students’ learning activities and outcomes, including character assessment and listening skills. The results showed that the developed teaching materials were very valid, practical based on teacher observations and questionnaires, and effective, with 93% of students able to listen effectively using the audiovisual media. Based on these findings, the listening materials based on audio-visual media for grade V elementary students can be declared valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

Low student participation in IPAS learning, limited instructional media, and reliance on printed materials at SD Kartika I-10 Padang have negatively affected students’ understanding. This study aimed to develop an electronic student worksheet (E-LKPD) based on cooperative learning that meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness for fifth-grade IPAS learning. The research applied a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE model, which includes Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects were 22 fifth-grade students. The development process involved analyzing needs, curriculum, and student characteristics, designing visual and content aspects of the E-LKPD, validating with media, material, and language experts, followed by product revision, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, teacher and student practicality questionnaires, and pretest-posttest. Results indicated high validity with an average score of 95%, while practicality was rated very practical by teachers (95%) and students (88%). Student learning outcomes improved significantly, with mean pretest and posttest scores of 56.59 and 90.45, respectively. The Wilcoxon test confirmed a significant difference (Z = -5.735, p < 0.05), reliability reached 0.80038 (reliable), and the N-Gain score was 0.79 (79.37%) in the high category. These findings conclude that the cooperative learning-based E-LKPD is valid, practical, and effective for enhancing IPAS learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study addresses the low level of active learning and inconsistent science achievement among primary school students. It aims to examine the effect of Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK)-based instructional design on students’ learning activity and science performance. A quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent posttest-only control group design was employed involving two classes: one taught using a TPACK-based approach and another using conventional instruction. Learning activity was measured through observation checklists and structured questionnaires, while science achievement was assessed through a multiple-choice test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. The results show that students in the TPACK group demonstrated notably higher levels of learning activity across visual, mental, and emotional dimensions compared to the control group. Their activity level was categorized as good, whereas the control group remained fairly good. Science test outcomes also revealed higher mean scores and lower score variance in the TPACK group. Statistical analysis confirmed significant differences between groups in both learning activity and science achievement. The study concludes that TPACK-based instructional design effectively integrates technology, pedagogy, and content to promote active engagement and enhance science learning outcomes in primary education.

Abstract

The research was carried out based on facts found in the field regarding the science and science learning process which still lacks teaching materials. The lack of teaching materials or media used in learning causes learning in class to become less active. Apart from that, teachers also do not use learning models that improve students' ability to think critically, which results in students being less active in class. This research uses the ADDIE Model which consists of five steps, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The results obtained from this research are E-Modules based on the Guided Inquiry Learning Model which are valid, practical and effective. The product validity results obtained from three experts, namely media experts, material experts and language experts respectively were 90.38 %; 91.67%; and 100% with a very valid category. In terms of product practicality, the E-Module is in the very practical category with teacher response practicality results of 88.33 % and student response practicality results of 88.35%. The effectiveness results obtained in this research also show that the product developed is very effective for use in the learning process.
