Abstract

Numerous meta-analysis studies have been undertaken on the topic of culturally embedded learning. Insufficient study has been undertaken on culturally integrated learning as a means to enhance reading abilities. The objective of this study is to assess and evaluate the impact of learning enriched by local culture on reading proficiency. This research was conducted using meta-analysis. The document search conducted using Google Scholar yielded 14 document papers published between 2019 and 2023. The research design included a contrast group with random effects model, incorporating a corrected effect size. The investigation employed Jeffreys’s Amazing Statistics Program (JASP) software to compute means aggregate errors, generate forest plots, and assess publication bias. The research reported a statistically significant difference (SE=2.091) between the groups that used local knowledge and standard methods in the learning process. The findings also indicated that incorporating local culture has a significant and favorable impact (with a p value of less than 0.05, namely 0.001) on reading proficiency. This demonstrates that incorporating local culture into the learning process is successful in enhancing students' reading proficiency. Therefore, this study recommends that teachers incorporate local culture as a subject in their teaching to enhance students' reading proficiency.

Abstract

This study investigates energy efficiency challenges during laboratory activities. Inefficient energy use in the practicum phase remains a critical issue, prompting the exploration of innovative forecasting models. This research employs artificial neural network (ANN) models integrated with principal component analysis (PCA) to predict energy consumption and optimize usage. The findings reveal that PCA components, including eigenvalues, eigenvectors, and matrix covariance values, significantly influence the ANN model's performance in forecasting energy production. The ANN training achieved a high correlation coefficient (R=1) with a mean squared error (MSE) of 0.045931 after 200,000 epochs, demonstrating the model's robustness. While testing results showed a moderate correlation (R=0.46169), the models demonstrated potential for refinement and scalability. This integration of ANN and PCA models provides a reliable framework for accurately forecasting energy usage, offering an effective strategy to enhance energy efficiency in laboratory settings. By optimizing energy consumption, this approach has the potential to reduce operational costs and environmental impact. The strong performance metrics highlight the practical utility of these models in educational contexts, contributing to sustainable energy management and better resource allocation. Furthermore, the reduction in energy-related environmental impacts underscores the broader applicability of these models for fostering sustainable development in similar contexts.

Abstract

This research investigates the various factors that affect entrepreneurial interest among vocational secondary school students enrolled in the electronics engineering program in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The study identifies entrepreneurship as a crucial mechanism for fostering innovation, self-employment, and enhancing national competitiveness. It examines five primary determinants: self-efficacy, family support, entrepreneurial attitude, entrepreneurship education, and social and institutional support. A quantitative ex post facto methodology was utilized, involving 104 respondents chosen through proportional random sampling from three vocational institutions.  Data collection employed a validated four-point Likert scale questionnaire, with analysis conducted via simple and multiple linear regression techniques utilizing SPSS. The findings indicate that all five variables have significant and positive impacts on students' entrepreneurial interest, both independently and in combination. Entrepreneurship education and social–institutional support exhibit the most significant impact, underscoring the critical role of practical learning, mentorship, and supportive ecosystems in shaping entrepreneurial trajectories.  Self-efficacy and family support enhance motivation and confidence, while positive entrepreneurial attitudes promote perseverance and proactive engagement in opportunity recognition. These factors account for nearly half of the variance in entrepreneurial interest, thereby affirming the significance of the Theory of Planned Behavior and Social Cognitive Theory within vocational contexts. This study empirically enhances the discourse on entrepreneurship in technical and vocational education by highlighting the combined influence of psychological, familial, educational, and structural supports on the development of entrepreneurial intentions. Policy implications indicate that promoting entrepreneurship necessitates the alignment of curricular design, family involvement, and institutional policies to enhance entrepreneurial ecosystems within vocational education. Vocational schools can enhance student empowerment by fostering self-efficacy and offering accessible institutional resources, enabling the translation of entrepreneurial aspirations into sustainable ventures.

Abstract

This study investigates the innovative work behavior (IWB) of marine lecturers, considering work motivation (WM), organizational culture (OC), and soft skill competence (SSC). Data from 145 respondents representing ten higher education polytechnics in Indonesia were analyzed using partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Respondents answered 54 Likert-scale questions, revealing that SSC significantly shapes IWB (estimated value: 0.504), primarily through problem-solving ability. However, WM showed no significant impact on IWB, possibly due to non-influential dimensions like science, technology, environment, and society. Incorporating technological developments as moderating variables could enhance this relationship. Notably, SSC and OC exhibit crucial relationships with IWB, highlighting their importance over WM. These findings shed light on the complex dynamics influencing IWB among marine lecturers, emphasizing the significance of SSC and OC in fostering innovation in the maritime education sector.
