Abstract

The number of sago processing industries in Jayapura Regency has the potential to increase sago pulp fiber waste that is still not being optimally utilized. This study aims to address the problem of sago pulp waste by turning it into functional and aesthetic handicraft products using painting techniques. The design was carried out through exploration using the research through design (RTD) method, which consists of the stages of understanding material characteristics, exploring materials, and implementing materials. Data collection techniques used observation and interviews to gain an in-depth understanding of the sago waste processing from sago starch (flour) processing from sago trunk (tokok) grating, extraction, sedimentation, and drying. Samples of sago pulp waste were taken from the sago forest located in Kampung Harapan, Sentani District, East Jayapura Regency. The sample characteristics in the research population were two-week-old sago pulp fiber waste that had been crushed from the sago processing of sago pith or trunk contents. The result of this research is a composite sheet in the form of bio-leather from sago pulp waste that is used as a material for making fashion products. This research focuses on the application of a green economy by developing craft raw materials to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 12, namely responsible consumption and production.

Abstract

Advancements in modern technology provide teachers with opportunities to develop their skills in using media and teaching materials. This shift helps transform the instructional paradigms used in school learning processes, making education more modern and high-quality. Therefore, teachers need to be proficient in using information technology to enhance classroom learning, especially in subjects like crafts and entrepreneurship. This study is a quantiative research that focuses on examining the impact of Google Classroom on students' learning motivation, interest, and outcomes. The research was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Tualang, Tualang District, Siak Regency, with a sample size of 95 eleventh-grade students. The data collected from this study were deemed valid and reliable, particularly concerning the influence of Google Classroom on learning motivation. The research findings were obtained through the use of questionnaires, with 33 respondents, providing data on the Google Classroom variable with a maximum score of 40. This indicates that there is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students who were taught using the Online Google Classroom Learning Method and those taught using the conventional learning model in the subject of Crafts and Entrepreneurship for the 10th-grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Tualang in the Odd Semester of the Academic Year 2023/2024.

Abstract

The Acehnese wedding stage has undergone changes in terms of shape and decoration, which is also accompanied by a shift in its function. This research aims to explore the shifting functions of the Acehnese wedding stage, which is typically used during wedding receptions but is now also employed in several traditional events, serving as an educational medium. The method used in this research is a descriptive-analytical approach with a qualitative orientation. Research data were collected through in-depth interviews with auction business owners and traditional leaders, observation of Acehnese wedding ceremonies, and documentary studies. Data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, data presentation, verification, and conclusion drawing. The research findings identified that there are three main functions of Acehnese wedding stages: first, as a reinforcement of cultural identity in rituals such as circumcision and seven months of pregnancy; second, as a socio-political representation that symbolizes local pride in welcoming guests of honor and other public contexts; and third, as an educational instrument in museums and tourism settings for cultural preservation and transmission. The findings highlight Aceh's cultural resilience by positioning the wedding stage not       only as a passive visual culture but as an active medium that adapts to contemporary realities. These findings form the basis of recommendations for policymakers in designing cultural preservation strategies that are adaptive and contribute significantly to the survival of traditional cultural heritage for future generations.
