Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study discusses the use of solar energy as a clean and widely available alternative. The performance of solar panels is influenced by various factors including solar radiation, module, temperature, and distribution of the sunlight spectrum. Temperature issues in solar panels can be addressed through passive cooling, such as installing a heatsink. A passive cooling system is implemented by installing a heatsink with four layers of fins on the body panel of the solar module. The advantage of passive cooling with constellations is that it does not require additional energy from outside, while a large number of fins can achieve the best passive cooling constellation. Each heatsink utilizes eight fins with a total of three heatsinks, manufactured from aluminum. Vector values of wind speed, humidity, and temperature are studied through direct measurements. A 100 W polycrystalline solar module at a standard temperature of 25 ℃ produces an open circuit voltage of 22 +V.

Abstract

The technology of light tracking monitors the solar panels to track the sun with full efficiency, and the solar panels can be upright to the sunlight in order to maximize the absorption of solar energy, so this system has a higher efficiency than non-tracking systems. This study aimed to obtain a controller that works accurately between the Proportional, Integral, and Derivative Controller (PID) and the Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) Algorithm by comparing the performance of the two algorithms in regulating the direction of the light tracker to detect the presence of sunlight. This solar prototype uses nine lamps as a simulation to determine the accuracy and precision of the angles of the two light trackers. The parameters compared in this test were the aspects of angular velocity and angle accuracy. The mean value of angular velocity obtained from the PID light tracking test results was 0.16 rad/s and the average linear velocity was 0.092 m/s whereas in the FLC light tracker, the average angular velocity value was 0.207 rad/s. Tests using a PID light tracker resulted in an X-axis accuracy of 45% and a Y-axis accuracy of 30%. The FLC light tracker, on the other hand, had an X-axis accuracy of 80% and a Y-axis accuracy of 30%.The precision value obtained by the PID light tracker on the X axis was 45% and the Y axis was 38%, while the precision value obtained by the FLC light tracker on the X axis was 71% and the Y axis was 33%. Based on the overall calculations, it can be concluded that the FLC light tracker has an increase in the speed value of 29% and an increase in the value of accuracy in the accuracy aspect by 35% and the precision aspect by 26% compared to the PID light tracker in previous studies.

Abstract

This research focuses on analyzing power losses due to load imbalance in the medium-voltage distribution network in Pasar Aceh. The aim is to determine the magnitude of power losses that occur at the distribution substation in Pasar Aceh. The research method involves analysis, calculations, and simulations using the ETAP 12.6 software. The results of the analysis indicate that load imbalance in the Pasar Aceh substation leads to power losses. The Trafo Samping Pasar Aceh experiences power losses of 0.77% with a load imbalance of 16.33%. The second transformer in the BNI 46 area incurs power losses of 0.98% with a load imbalance of 30.33%, and the transformer in the BLKG KOTTY area has power losses of 1.17% with a load imbalance of 50.33%. These findings affirm that the greater the load imbalance, the higher the resulting power losses in the electrical distribution network.

Abstract

Significant advancements in Light-Emitting Diode (LED) technologies, including the availability of high-power LEDs at reduced costs, have rendered them a highly desirable and dependable solar simulator. However, there are still challenges in designing LEDs as solar simulators to evaluate the characteristics of specific solar modules across different technologies and sizes, particularly regarding spectral composition and spatial uniformity of irradiation. This work seeks to develop a prototype LED solar simulator capable of generating uniform light with stability of at least 90% (class C) throughout an illumination area of 54 cm × 67cm for laboratory instructional applications. The employed procedures encompass the selection of high-power LED bulbs, thermal management, electrical design, prototype fabrication, and performance assessment. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 60904-9:20 standard delineates the performance criteria for solar simulators and serves as a framework for constructing LED solar simulators. The study's results demonstrate that the LED solar simulator prototype has been successfully constructed and is categorized as class C, exhibiting a light non-uniformity and stability level of 10%. The capacity to delineate the current and voltage of a 50 cm × 30 cm small solar module under specified irradiance and temperature circumstances may be attained with a mean absolute error percentage of 0.01 and a root mean square error of 0.21. The hexagonal configuration of the LED array offers advantages for light design, including modularity and ease of expansion to achieve a broader illumination area. This arrangement can serve as an invaluable instrument to enhance solar energy research and maximize the performance of photovoltaic devices under regulated conditions.
