Abstract

Sexual harassment is something that is common in Indonesia and other countries because the cases occur almost every year. Legal protection for victims of sexual harassment is stated in the Law. But in fact, Indonesian law itself has not been able to fully provide firm legal consequences for perpetrators of harassment and protection for victims. In fact, there is still legal inequality between victims and perpetrators due to social inequality where the victim comes from an impoverished society so the perpetrator can pass the trial because they can afford to pay a lawyer to defend himself. Therefore the purpose of this study is to find out how is the role of law enforcement officials toward the victims of sexual harassment, especially women. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. The data was obtained from Indonesian language-based books. This study used the theory of Karl Marx which states that there is a conflict between social classes, where the interests are conflicting and irreconcilable because of different social and economic order positions. From the research, it can be concluded that legal injustice that occurs in Indonesia is due to law enforcement officials who are not wise or cannot take a good role in handling cases of sexual harassment against women. In addition, it is influenced by social class where it is difficult for lower-class people to get justice because upper-class people dominate the law which will lead to divisions in the communities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini akan membahas tentang salah satu kasus bunuh diri yang cukup menyita perhatian publik adalah kasus bunuh diri yang dilakukan oleh Novia Widyasari.  Dia merpakan seorang mahasiswi  yang ditemukan tewas disamping ayahnya setelah meminum teh kemasan yang sudah dicampur dengan racun jenis potasium. Novia Widyasari melakukan tindakan bunuh diri ini setelah diketahu hamil diluar nikah dan mengalami aborsi.  Artikel ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data berupa studi kepustakaan dan dianalisisi melalui teknik analisis isi (analysis content). Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori bunuh diri milik Emile Durkheim. Dalam teori ini tindakan bunuh diri dibagi menjadi empat tipe bunuh diri, yaitu bunuh diri egoistik, bunuh diri alturistik. bunuh diri Anomi, dan bunuh diri fatalistik. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan hasil bahwa tindakan bunuh diri yang dilakukan oleh Novia Widyasari termasuk kedalam bunuh diri alturistik, yaitu bunuh diri yang dilakukan karena seseorang merasa menjadi beban masyarakat. Kehamilan diluar nikah dan aborsi yang dilakukan oleh Novia Widyasari termasuk kedalam perbuatan yang melanggar norma dalam masyarakat. Perasaaan bersalah serta merasa menjadi aib bagi keluarganya, otomatis menimbulkan perasaan dimana Novia hanya beban bagi keluarga serta masyarakat yang kemudian membuat Novia nekat melakukan tindakan bunuh diri di samping makam ayahnya,

Abstract

Interpreters need to employ appropriate interpreting strategies to prevent information overload. The skills to employ such strategies may be associated to their experience. The current study investigates interpreting strategies employed by inexperienced novice interpreters (students) and more experienced interpreters (early professionals). The objective of this study is to make a comparison between interpreting strategies adopted by novice interpreters and those by early professional interpreters. The participants of the study were twenty students taking consecutive interpreting course and nine early professional interpreters. The data, gathered from video recordings of consecutive interpreting tasks, were analyzed to identify the strategies employed by the interpreters. The findings show that there are four strategies employed by the novice interpreters and six by the early professionals. The four strategies by the novice interpreters are skipping, word for word translation, guessing, and reproduction. The six strategies by the early professional interpreters are stalling, reproduction, word for word interpretation, inferencing, approximation, and taking advantage of cohesive markers. This shows that the early professional interpreters have wider repertoire of interpreting strategies compared to their novice counterparts. The limited number of strategies employed by the novice interpreters may be caused by their limited listening capacity, limited vocabulary, and their note taking skills. This implies that the consecutive interpreting course needs to be offered for students having passed courses on basic language skills. The second implication is that the consecutive interpreting materials need to include materials on active listening, chunking, and note taking.

Abstract

This community service is aimed at accommodating the needs of the Tulus Besar village community, Tumpang District in improving the ability to manage natural tourist attractions and the potential of tourist villages in the Tulus Besar tourist village area by involving tourism business actors (travel agents) to increase tourist visits, both local and foreign. Participants in this training are tourism business actors in Tulus Besar village. Through this activity, it is hoped that there will be an increase in the economic value of tourism and arts potential as well as the quality of human resources for the managers of the tourist village through increasing the ability to manage tourist attractions and tourist villages owned by the Tulus Besar village community. This activity was carried out in five stages, namely planning (to find out the number of participants who are involved and the materials needed for the training), coordination to do a survey, survey with village officials and travel agents (to ensure the plans made are by needs), Focus Group Discussion, monitoring and evaluation (giving questionnaires to training participants regarding training implementation and materials).

Abstract

 Related languages may facilitate the translation as they share many features. However, when the translation is done long after the source text was written, a potential problem may arise as the target readers have been different in terms of knowledge, habit, expectations and possibly faith. Hence, appropriate translation strategies are important. This study examined the strategies of the translation of ‘Kitab Primbon Betaljemur Adammakna’, written by R. Soemodidjojo, 57th printing, 2008, into modern Indonesian done by Wibatsu, 1st printing, 1994, published by Penerbit Soemodidjojo Mahadewa. This qualitative descriptive study compared the target text (Indonesian) with the source text (Javanese) to describe the translation strategies adopted to achieve semiotic, textual, grammatical, and semantic equivalence in the textual, sentence or clause, and word levels. The sample included the topics of ‘pawukon’, tradition or ceremonies, and human physical and trait description.  The findings revealed a free approach to achieve semiotic, textual, and grammatical equivalence. Free translation and 'no-translation' were employed at the clause and sentence levels. At the word level, borrowing strategies were used for cultural words, words closely related to daily life, and specific ‘primbon’ expressions. Additional information was also used inconsistently; sometimes addition is given after slash (/) or put between brackets. The findings emphasize the importance of target readers identification before translation is done. Finally, it is suggested that the translators of similar texts identify the target readers appropriately. Further research on similar topics is suggested to interview the writer and the translator if they are still alive or reachable.Kekerabatan pasangan bahasa di dalam penerjemahan dapat mendatangkan kemudahan dan juga kesulitan bagi penerjemah jika penerjemahan dilakukan lintas kala. Untuk itu pemilihan strategi penerjemahan yang tepat menjadi penting. Penelitian ini mengkaji penerjemahan Kitab Primbon Betaljemur Adammakna dari abad 19 ke dalam bahasa Indonesia modern akhir abad 20. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini membandingkan teks bahasa sasaran (Indonesia) dan teks bahasa sumber (Jawa) untuk mendeskripsikan strategi penerjemahan KPBA yang terkait dengan kesepadanan semiotika, tekstual, gramatika, dan semantik. Untuk mencapai kesepadanan semiotika dan tekstual, dan gramatika, penerjemah mengambil metode bebas. Penerjemahan bebas menerjemahkan dan juga ‘tidak menerjemahkan’ unit-unit penerjemahan tingkat klausa atau kalimat. Dalam hal semantik Pada tingkat kata penerjemah menerapkan strategi pinjaman untuk (a) kata konsep khas budaya Jawa, (b) kata yang sangat akrab dengan kehidupan sehari-hari orang Jawa, dan (c) ungkapan khas primbon. Selain itu, penambahan keterangan juga sering digunakan dengan cara yang kurang konsisten, kadang keterangan ditambahkan setelah garis miring atau di dalam kurung; dan tambahan keterangan ini bisa bahasa sumber, bahasa sasaran dan bahkan bahasa ketiga (Inggris). Temuan penelitian ini menekankan perlunya pengidentifikasian pembaca sasaran sebelum kerja terjemahan dimulai. Akhirnya disarankan agar penerjemah naskah serupa mengidentifikasi pembaca sasaran dengan lebih baik dan peneliti selanjutnya disarankan untuk menambah metode pengumpulan data dengan wawancara.Related languages may facilitate the translation as they share many features. Abstract

ABSTRACTThis article aims to enhance the understanding of strategic competence in the field of interpreting. Following a concise examination of the primary contributions related to the concept of strategies in interpreting, the article presents a study that scrutinises the strategies employed by two students in interpreting. This study aims to simultaneous interpreting strategies used by the student interpreters when doing the video simultaneous interpreting. The data source is the Chinese to English simultaneous interpreting video record in the subject speech of Run Liu’s The Power of Evolution done by the student interpreters Selena_jm and Wenchao Liu on 12th November 2023. The results of the study revealed there were three interpreting strategies employed by the simultaneous interpreting from Chinese to English in the video clip of Run Liu’s speech The Power of Evolution. The strategies employed by the interpreter include Generalization (33.33% & 90%), omission (66.66%), and paraphrasing (9%).

Abstract

Peran guru sebagai agen perubahan merupakan faktor penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan jalannya inovasi pendidikan di Indonesia. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran guru sebagai agen perubahan yang menentukan keberhasilan pelaksanaan inovasi pendidikan dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan perkembangan teknologi saat ini. Artikel ini merupakan studi literatur dengan jenis kualitatif deskriptif dengan kajian kepustakaan yang berusaha menggambarkan peran guru sebagai agen perubahan. Pada artikel ini penulis menggunakan berbagai sumber tertulis seperti artikel, jurnal, dan dokumen yang relevan dengan kajian pada artikel ini. Studi literatur ini fokus pada peran guru, agen perubahan dan strategi pembelajaran. Hasil studi literatur menunjukkan bahwa guru sebagai agen perubahan memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan jalannya inovasi pendidikan dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran yang disesuaikan dengan kondisi saat ini.. Laporan dalam artikel ini menekankan bahwa guru seyogyanya terus belajar untuk menjalankan tugasnya sebagai agen perubahan, sehingga mereka dapat menjalankan tugas dengan baik dengan menyesuaikan dengan perkembangan teknologi untuk membuat proses pembelajaran yang aktif, komunikatif, efektif dan menarik

Abstract

Intercultural communication is a vital component of modern education, necessitating efforts to enhance students’ Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC). Achieving this requires intentional strategies, such as exposing students to international learning environments. Immersing students in international learning environments—such as through international programs or short-term overseas courses—can foster ICC development.  Consequently, identifying shifts in ICC and effective strategies for its development is essential. This study was aimed at exploring the shift in ICC as experienced by international students as well as the intercultural communication problems encountered. This mixed method research was of explanatory-exploratory design with the respondents of Indonesian students taking a course in Singapore and foreign students pursuing a study in Indonesia. Data collection instruments used were questionnaires, focus group discussions, and in-depth interviews. Findings of the study reveal that students taking courses in other countries improved their ICC in all four categories in terms of knowledge, attitude, skills, and awareness. Problems encountered included linguistic, social, and cultural problems.

Abstract

Desa Tulusbesar memiliki potensi yang sangat tinggi khususnya penyelenggaraan kegiatan wisata seni dan budaya. Akan tetapi, kegiatan tersebut hanya berlangsung dan belum disebarluaskan secara optimal melalui media massa. Tujuan utama yang ingin dicapai dari kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu penyebaran berita dari kegiatan Desa Tulusbesar pada media massa untuk mempromosikan wisata seni dan budaya Tulusbesar. Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini menggunakan metode Service Learning. Solusi dari kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat yang ditawarkan yaitu pelatihan jurnalisme dan pelatihan copywriting. Tujuannya agar mitra mampu membuat berita tentang acara yang ada di Desa Tulusbesar. Beberapa manfaat yang bisa didapatkan oleh mitra yaitu 1) Mitra mendapatkan pengetahuan untuk menulis berita tentang wisata seni dan budaya di Tulusbesar; 2) Mitra mendapatkan pengetahuan melakukan teknik copywriting agar berita yang tersebar di media massa mampu menarik perhatian pembaca dan masyarakat luas; 3) Mitra memanfaatkan teknologi untuk kegiatan jurnalisme. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berhasil memenuhi tujuannya dan memberikan manfaat signifikan bagi aparat desa Tulusbesar. Keterampilan baru yang diperoleh peserta diharapkan dapat meningkatkan efektivitas promosi seni dan budaya desa. Dengan penerapan teknik yang dipelajari, desa dapat menarik lebih banyak pengunjung dan memperkuat posisi mereka sebagai tujuan wisata budaya.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PPM) ini dilaksanakan bersama mitra Amor’s Kitchen, sebuah usaha kuliner di Malang yang memproduksi donat, brownies, dan berbagai jenis camilan. Analisis situasi menunjukkan bahwa meskipun mitra menghasilkan produk berkualitas tinggi, mereka menghadapi keterbatasan dalam strategi promosi, khususnya dalam pemanfaatan media sosial. Program ini menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR), yang melibatkan partisipasi aktif mitra pada setiap tahap kegiatan. Tujuan program ini adalah untuk meningkatkan daya beli konsumen melalui pelatihan dan praktik langsung dalam pengembangan media sosial serta strategi promosi digital. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi analisis kebutuhan, pembuatan akun media sosial, pelatihan fotografi dan videografi produk, serta pendampingan dalam implementasi konten promosi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa mitra kini telah memiliki akun media sosial aktif, mampu memproduksi foto dan video secara mandiri, serta mulai mendapatkan interaksi positif dari calon pelanggan. Jumlah pengikut akun meningkat dan beberapa pesanan produk telah diterima melalui media sosial. Kegiatan tindak lanjut difokuskan pada konsistensi unggahan, penerapan iklan digital, pengelolaan data pelanggan, serta evaluasi efektivitas strategi promosi. Program ini diharapkan dapat memberdayakan Amor’s Kitchen untuk mengelola strategi promosi digital secara mandiri dan meningkatkan keberlanjutan usaha.
