Abstract

The village that is in the spotlight this time is Pematang Kuala Village, where this village has a livelihood mostly as farmers, fishermen and laborers. Serdang Bedagai Regency has geographical conditions in the form of lowlands where it is supported by fertile soil conditions and has most of the people whose livelihoods are farmers and fishermen. Hamlet 5 Pematang Kuala Village is the main target for Village development this time because Hamlet 5 Pematang Kuala Village has become a Partner Village of the Islamic University of North Sumatra, there have been village development activities carried out by UISU  students in the form of PHP2D activities which have already completed the implementation process. Therefore it is necessary to have activities to improve the welfare of the people who are  dominated by fishing communities. The East Coast of Sumatra Island has a fairly long and wide span, especially in the Serdang Bedagai area which is the longest and widest coastal area. On this occasion, we made observations of the coastal area in the village of Pematang Kuala, where this beach borders the villages of Bogak Besar and Bagan Kuala. The results of our observations in the village of Pematang Kuala are, where the physical condition of the road to the beach is bad, even though this beach has a high potential to be developed into ecotourism. In the coastal area, around 20,000 mangrove plants have been planted with an area of about 54 km2 since 2014 by the local community. The types of mangroves found in this area are Rhizopora sp and Avicennia species. Mangrove planting in this area still has a distance of about 1.5 m between one tree and another, and not all areas are planted with mangrove trees, in this area there are also no seawater breakwaters that can reduce abrasion and erosion. A pheasant or low-threshold breakwater is a coastal protection technology intended as a solution to the problem of coastal erosion and abrasion caused by tides and sea waves. The breakwater is used to control abrasion which can erode the coastline and also to calm the waves in the harbor so that ships can dock more easily and quickly in the port. In other words, briefly it can be concluded that the abrasion conditions. which were quite severe over the past 5 years resulted in the loss of the coastlin and turned into soft, difficult-to-compave mud and eroded the mangrove area. leading to further reductions in marine catches. This is a big problem that must be taken seriously. Pematang Kuala Village, which is also a UISU partner village  requires the Islamic University of North Sumatra to collaborate in solving this problem. The PKM team from UISU is expected to be able to solve this critical problem by making wave-breaking bamboo pheasants and planting true mangroves.

Abstract

North Pelawi Village is one of the villages located in Babalan District, Langkat Regency. Independent enterprises that make tofu are micro, small and medium enterprises that are still active in carrying out activities to produce a tofu product using vinegar at a relatively low cost. The impact of using vinegar for the manufacture of tofu, where the liquid waste can cause environmental pollution because the water flowing in the sewers has a very strong smell, especially if the volume of liquid waste is large, of course it will make people restless and disturb the surrounding environment and the effect of vinegar can cause stomach acid which can bring disease on our bodies. The implementation of the activities is carried out by theoretical and lecture methods (socialization) and the implementation method in which the above student activities are accompanied by DPL lecturers to help the community of North Pelawi Village. The results of the KKN-T activities related to tofu making are carried out through socialization in which it is hoped that the next tofu production must be switched from the use of vinegar to the use of nigarin sea water with the consequence of avoiding environmental pollution and avoiding the tendency of stomach acid and avoiding the tendency of stomach acid. The socialization activity of making tofu has benefits, namely it can increase public knowledge.

Abstract

Processed products of palm sap are cooked for a certain duration of time to produce brown sugar. In general, the community still uses coconut/aren sap water as a raw material for making brown sugar, but currently residents of Pasar Eight village in Air Putih sub-district have made brown sugar using waste palm stems to get the sap water and then mix it with white sugar. The purpose of community service is to increase online marketing and provide education on making brown sugar that is correct and good for health. Brown sugar has its own advantages, but improper processing can harm health in order to gain unilateral benefits. Based on the results of observations when visiting brown sugar craftsmen (partners), information was obtained that the marketing of palm sugar palm sap was carried out online through social media face book and product orders had reached the Pekanbaru area, although not routinely. Therefore community service is carried out by providing outreach to brown sugar craftsmen in order to expand the marketing network which will increase sales, production and profits so as to open jobs for the community. The service method is carried out by observing and interviewing and outreach. It is hoped that the results of PkM activities can increase the knowledge of brown sugar craftsmen about online brown sugar marketing and the quality of brown sugar production and hygiene.

Abstract

Sampah yang digunakan sampah tipe organik berupa daun basah serta batok kelapa. Alat yang digunakan membakar sampah adalah bentuk tungku pembakaran tertutup , alat pengepres briket arang, alat penyaring ukuran 50 mesh. Metode kegiatan penyuluhan kepada peserta dan praktek di lapangan. Untuk kegiatan penyuluhan dipaparkan mengenai pemanfaatan sampah untuk menghasilkan arang sehat melibatkan beberapa dosen UISU, para warga dan perangkat desa. Hasil pembakaran daun kering dan batok kelapa masing-masing menghasilkan serpihan arang kemudian ditumbuk sampai halus, disaring dengan saringan 50 mesh terlebih dahulu selanjutnya bubuk halus daun kering dan batok kelapa (masing-masing 1 kg) dicampur dengan cairan kanji (2 ons kanji +2 l air diaduk dan dimasak hingga matang jadi cairan) dan diaduk hingga merata.    Campuran briket daun kering dan batok kelapa yang sudah homogen dimasukkan kedalam cetakan alat pengepres. Briket arang hasil cetakan dikeringkan hari agar dapat digunakan sebagai bahan bakar. Dengan harapan,  kegiatan ini yang merupakan bagian program dari lembaga pengabdian kepada masyarakat UISU yang mana dapat dilakukan dengan sistem pengelolaan sampah secara mandiri berbasis masyarakat dengan tujuan menjadikan sampah sebagai sumber daya yang dapat menghasilkan suatu produk bermanfaat bagi masyarakat dengan konsekuensi mereduksi biaya masyarakat dalam konsumsi arang sehat dan dapat meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat melalui home industri.

Abstract

Fertilizer is one of the important inputs in increasing the productivity of food crops, so that its existence and utilization has a strategic position. One of the policies in the procurement of fertilizers is fertilizer subsidies. Fertilizer subsidies have long been implemented with various policies that follow it, such as policies on fertilizer procurement, distribution of fertilizers and supervision of subsidized fertilizers. The problem faced is that local people do not know which are subsidized and non-subsidized fertilizers. So that with this extension, the Kepala Sungai community can find out the type and method of obtaining the fertilizer. This PKM activity has added insight from the local community in knowing which fertilizers are subsidized and non-subsidized, although there are some things that still need to be improved for the progress of agriculture in the future. In Indonesia, the distribution of fertilizer subsidies is currently still constrained. These deviations include incomplete RDKK data collection, distribution of subsidized fertilizers to unauthorized parties, lack of distribution volume that causes a shortage of fertilizers, procurement and distribution of subsidized fertilizers by the fertilizer industry, obstacles in calculating fertilizer subsidies, and supervision of subsidized fertilizer distribution. Most of the deviations in the implementation of subsidized fertilizer program policies occur at the retailer, distributor and producer level as well as the weak mechanism for monitoring the implementation of subsidized fertilizers. Aspects of transparency and information disclosure in the implementation chain of the subsidized fertilizer policy program are also still weak. The strategy for distributing or distributing subsidized fertilizers in Indonesia can be implemented through several distribution alternatives.

Abstract

Dari hasil pertanian yang dilakukan warga desa Aras diperoleh hasil samping salah satunya brangkasan jagung. Hasil samping ini belum banyak dimanfaatkan oleh warga desa, karena minimnya pengetahuan dalam hal pemanfaatan hasil samping pertania khususnya brangkasan jagung. Uraian di atas menjelaskan  bahwa hasil samping pertanian di desa Aras Kecamatan Air Putih Kabupaten Batubara berupa brangkasan jagung dari panen akhir yang jumlahnya tergantung kepada  jenis usaha tanaman jagungnya belum dimanfaatkan sepenuhnya. Hasil samping tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi sumber pakan ternak ruminansia melalui pelatihan kepada warga desa Aras, sehingga dapat menjamin ketersediaan pakan ternak sepanjang waktu dengan menggunakan metode fermentasi/pengomposan.

Abstract

Latar Belakang.Bayi yang sehat dan cerdas merupak   an dambaan setiap orang tua. Namun   apabila pola asuh yang diberikan tidak adekuat dapat berdampak pada  tumbuh kembang anak. . Pola Asuh memiliki peranan penting dalam pencegahan stunting terutama dalam pemberian makanan pendamping air susu ibu (MP-ASI) pada balita.Kasus stunting masih tinggi di Indonesia. Stunting merupakan masalah gagal tumbuh yang disebabkan karena kekurangan gizi kronis yang terjadi pada rentang waktu yang cukup lama sehingga menghambat tumbuh kembang anak.Tujuan.Kegiatan Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi kepada para kader kesehatan dalam penerapan pola asuh untuk pencegahan stunting.Metode.Kegiatan dilaberikan melalui metode ceramah yang interaktif, diskusi, dan role play melalui kasus-kasus yang banyak terjadi. Partisipan dalam kegiatan ini berjumlah 60 orang yang dipilih secara random dengan mewakili semua daerah kecamatan di Kabupaten Batubara Provinsi Sumatera Utara.Kesimpulan. Kegiatan pemberian edukasi ini memiliki manfaat untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan para kader kesehatan dalam penerapan pola asuh untuk pencegahan stunting.

Abstract

Some of the people of Percut village make a living as fishermen catching fish and collecting shells. The consumptive culture of coastal communities, especially seafood and beach products, provides opportunities to produce innovative culinary businesses. After conducting socialization and hearings with the Percut village community, information was obtained that a breakthrough effort had been made in the marketing of shelled clams. The shelled clams here are sourced from feather clams (Anadara antiquata), although there are several other types of shellfish such as green mussels, hemp clams and other shellfish. On the coast of Percut village it is quite easy to get clams and several other types of shellfish, but the processing is still very simple, namely by simply boiling them. This processed product still contains impurities (sand or mud), the appearance is less attractive, the type and size are not the same and the packaging is not attractive so that the attractiveness and interest of the public to buy is still very low. Therefore, technical improvements are needed from the beginning of the shellfish processing process in order to obtain quality results and be accepted by the market. It is hoped that the improvement in processing techniques for peeled shellfish in Percut village will provide added value from shellfish products and the establishment of a Percut village-specific culinary snack business that will increase people's interest in buying them.

Abstract

One of the potential livestock commodities to be developed is goats. A number of problems faced by goat breeders include seed quality, feed supply, disease prevention, market expansion to increase production. However, the main problem of discussion is the availability of animal feed. Currently goat breeders are still experiencing a problem in the supply of animal feed as a source of protein. Breeders must provide grass in sufficient quantities to be chopped as livestock feed. Most breeders still use the conventional grass chopping process. Farmers in the Pond Village area still use sickles to get grass which has to provide large amounts of grass as the number of goats also increases, therefore it takes more time and effort. The solution to solving the problems faced is to approach partners so that alternative grass chopping technology can be accepted and implemented. With the application of alternative grass chopping machines, smaller pieces of grass are obtained to be given as animal feed so that it is easier for livestock to digest the food. As the prime mover of this grass chopper is an electric motor and a gasoline engine. If the location is available a source of electric current can use an electric motor dynamo. If the conditions where the livestock is far from the reach of electricity can use a gasoline engine. Alternative grass chopper with consequences can increase livestock feed production capacity. Transferring the function of using a scythe as a grass chopping tool to chopping grass using a machine will ensure a quick time and an increase in production capacity which has been proven to work in the Kesuma cattle farming group. The grass chopper application is well supported/welcomed by the farmer group members, it is hoped that the farmer group residents will continue to use this chopper application.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui indeks keanekaragaman, dominansi serta bobot dan panjang ikan hasil tangkapan pada rumpon berbasis sumberdaya lokal. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi mengenai jenis-jenis ikan yang tertangkap dengan menggunakan pancing ulur. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Juni sampai Juli 2024 di perairan Laut Dusun V Desa Pematang Kuala Teluk Mengkudu Serdang Bedagai. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa data jumlah ikan (ekor), bobot (gr) dan panjang (cm). Metode pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah eksperimental fishing selama 4x trip pada dua lokasi berbeda. Selama penelitian jumlah hasil tangkapan yang diperoleh sebanyak 15 ekor ikan yang terdiri dari 1 filum (chordata), 1 kelas (actinopterygii), 1 ordo, 4 famili dan 8 spesies, adapun jenis ikan yaitu kuwe/rambai (Carangoides malabaricus), selar hijau (Atule mate), selar ekor kuning (Selaroides leptolepis), kerapu macan (Ephinephelus coioides), swanggi (Priachantus hamrur), kakap merah (Lutjanus malabaricus), tenggiri papan (Scomberomorus commerson). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai indeks keanekaragaman pada rumpon adalah sebesar 1,43 yaitu termasuk dalam kriteria relatif sedang. Nilai indeks dominansi pada rumpon adalah sebesar 2 yaitu termasuk dalam kriteria relatif tinggi, serta bobot ikan hasil tangkapan pada kedua rumpon adalah sebesar 3,72 kilogram dan 1,91 kilogram dan panjang rata – rata ikan hasil tangkapan pada kedua rumpon adalah berkisar antara 14,4 cm – 40,25 cm dan 20,9 – 40,5 cm
