Abstract

This study investigates the utilization of different compositions of Fe2O3 and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to modify chitosan in order to prepare a composite membrane. The membranes were synthesized using the phase inversion method and extensively characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), mechanical properties analysis, and water uptake analysis, whereby SEM was used to confirm the morphology of the composite membranes. Different electrochemical properties such as ion exchange capacity, proton conductivity, and methanol permeability of these membranes were also measured. The results showed that increasing the PVA mass improved the water uptake, ion exchange capacity (IEC), and proton conductivity because the PVA addition increased the hydrophilicity of the membrane; thus, the pore surface on the membrane was more open, which also caused higher membrane permeability. However, the methanol permeability values of all composite membranes were lower than that of Nafion. The highest IEC and proton conductivity were obtained for the CS-PVA-H3070 membrane, with values of 4.300 meq/g and 6.71 × 10−2 S·cm−1, respectively. The mechanical strength of these membranes showed that the PVA addition increased the elongation break and decreased the tensile strength of the membrane. The results imply that the chitosan membrane modified with PVA and Fe¬2O3 has a potential for DMFC applications.

Abstract

The method of solid hydrogen storage through integration in metal hydride compounds is a new, promising method. This research has succeeded in synthesizing and characterizing the metal hydride alloy Fe-Ti system through a planetary ball-mill process. Based on the XRF analysis, it was found that the composition of Fe oxide content reached 56.22% while Ti oxide reached 43.78%. The FTIR study showed absorption at wavenumbers of 900 cm-1 and 500 cm-1. Both are typical absorptions for Ti-O and Fe-O groups, suggesting that the synthesized sample was successful. It can be seen from the XRD data that some of the diffractogram peaks of the resulting Fe-Ti compound match the peaks of the Fe2TiO5 and TiO2 compounds obtained from the Powder Diffraction File (PDF) database number 00-003-0374. After the refinement was performed, information was obtained that the synthesis of Fe-Ti alloy material using the planetary ball mill technique produced Fe2TiO5.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian karbon aktif kulit buah sukun yang dikombinasikan dengan zeolit alam sebagai adsorben kemasan celup untuk mereduksi konsentrasi logam besi (Fe) dan nikel (Ni) dalam air sumur. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kemampuan adsorben arang aktif kulit buah sukun yang dioptimasikan dengan zeolit alam dalam mereduksi konsentrasi logam Fe dan Ni. Percobaan dilakukan dalam skala laboratorium dengan menggunakan metode variasi konsentrasi karbon aktif yang dianalisis menggunakan Spektrofotometri Serapan Atom (SSA). Pada adsorpsi logam Fe, activated carbon celup dengan konsentrasi x : y, 2x : y, 5x : y, x, y secara berturut-turut mampu mengadsorpsi logam Fe sebesar 0,5844, 0,5679, 0,6092, 0,5431, 0,5761 ppm dengan daya adsorpsi setiap 1 gram adsorben selama 60 menit secara berturut-turut 0,0974, 0,0946, 0,1015, 0,1810, 0,1929. Kondisi optimum daya serap adsorben karbon aktif celup dalam mereduksi kosentrasi Fe terjadi pada komposisi 5x:y sebesar 0,6092 ppm dan daya serap setiap 1 g adsorben dengan lama perendaman 60 menit sebesar 0,1015 mg/g. Sedangkan adsorpsi logam Ni, activated carbon celup dengan konsentrasi x : y, 2x : y, 5x : y, x, y secara berturut-turut mampu mengadsorpsi logam Ni sebesar 0,9290, 0,7070, 0,7799, 0,9290, 0,9290 ppm dengan daya adsorpsi karbon aktif celup pada komposisi 2x : y, 5x : y, yaitu 0,1178, 0,1299 ppm

Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini, kami melaporkan katalis basa heterogen CaO/K2O yang disintesis dan dikarakterisasi dari batu gamping untuk transesterifikasi minyak jelantah menjadi biodiesel. Konversi batu gamping menjadi katalis CaO melalui kalsinasi pada suhu 1000°C selama 3 jam. Katalis CaO/K2O dibuat dengan metode impregnasi CaO oleh KOH. Katalis dikarakterisasi dengan menggunakan instrumen X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) dan Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX). Katalis CaO/K2O dibandingkan dengan katalis CaO untuk mempelajari aktivitasnya dalam proses transesterifikasi dalam kondisi yang sesuai (suhu reaksi 65ºC, pemuatan katalis 5% berat, rasio molar minyak terhadap metanol 1:2, dan waktu reaksi 2 jam). Hasil pengujian katalis menunjukkan aktivitas katalitik dengan rendemen Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) sebesar 65,2 %. Penggabungan K2O ke dalam katalis CaO meningkatkan sifat kebasaan sehingga meningkatkan aktivitas katalitik transesterifikasi.

Abstract

Chemistry is not merely a science that only studies theory in class. Chemistry learning requires practical or experimental activities to observe and directly apply chemical concepts during face-to-face meetings in class. Meanwhile, the unavailability of laboratory facilities is one of the factors in not carrying out chemistry practice. This causes students difficulties in understanding the concept of chemistry as a whole and can potentially reduce learning motivation. This public service activity aims to implement the Hyperchem software for teachers and students of SMA Negeri 1 Mawasangka Timur as an alternative solution for chemistry labs in the form of electronic labs. The chemical topics selected and considered suitable for this type of practice were the structure and properties of chemical compounds. This activity is carried out in the form of a workshop. Workshop materials use lectures, simulations, discussions, and question-and-answer models. The activity's results showed the workshop participants' enthusiasm to use the Hyperchem software as a chemistry lab media. This is reflected in the evaluation of the workshop implementation, which is carried out by assessing the response of the workshop participants based on indicators of relevance, the ability of the presenters, ease of use, availability, and usefulness of the Hyperchem software. The evaluation results show that the workshop and the implementation of the Hyperchem software as an electronic practice media for visualizing the structure and properties of chemical compounds received a positive response from the workshop participants.

Abstract

Bullying is the act of using power to harm a person or group of people both verbally and psychologically, so that the victim feels depressed, traumatized and helpless. There are several impacts of bullying that need to be aware of because they can affect the mental health of both victims and perpetrators, such as triggering emotional disorders, mental problems, sleep disorders, decreased achievement, and so on. The purpose of this study is to increase students' awareness and understanding of the importance of respecting each other and the negative impact of bullying behavior. In this research, the methods used are literature studies and case studies. The results obtained were an increase in students' understanding of the definition and forms of bullying, including physical, verbal, and social bullying. Before the socialization, most students thought that bullying was only limited to physical violence, but after the socialization, they began to realize that actions such as mocking, excluding, and spreading rumors were also included in bullying behavior. Based on the results of the above research, it can be concluded that education on bullying prevention has not only succeeded in increasing student awareness, but also encouraging active participation from all elements of the school in creating a safer and more positive environment.

Abstract

This investigation introduces a proficient synthesis of carbon nanodots (CND) utilizing empty fruit bunches (EFB) as an environmentally friendly and economical carbon precursor. The synthesis method involves a combination of pyrolysis and hydrothermal. The optical and physicochemical properties of CND were investigated through X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Particle Size Analysis (PSA), UV-visible, and fluorescence spectroscopy. The CND exhibit a spherical morphology, as confirmed through TEM imaging, with an amorphous structure. Size distribution analysis reveals a predominant particle size range between 3.8 and 4.8 nm, and an average diameter of 4.5 nm. Additionally, these CND demonstrated excellent aqueous dispersibility and exhibited fluorescence emission dependent on excitation. The synthesis procedure utilized a simple method, efficiently converting waste materials into valuable end products.

Abstract

Pemecahan masalah adalah salah satu skill yang perlu dimiliki siswa di abad 21. Seseorang yang berpikir kritis, analitis, dan imajinatif akan mudah dalam pemecahan masalah kimia. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian eksperimen, yang bermaksud mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa setalah diimplementasikan model POE kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Pomalaa. Populasi sebanyak 278 yang kemudian menjadi sampel sebanyak 60 siswa melalui teknik random sampling. Kelas X.2 dijadikan sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas X.6 dijadikan sebagai kelas eksperimen. Pendekatan pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui dokumentasi,wawancara,observasi dan ujian kemampuan pemecahan masalah.Analisis deskriptif dan inferensial, serta pengujian prasyarat dan hipotesis sebagi tahapan dari analisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa data yang dihasilkan terdistribusi normal dan homogen Selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian hipotesis berupa independent sample test post-test dengan nilai sig 0.000 kecil dari 0.05 sehingga dinyatakan bahwa ada pengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa akibat dari penggunaan model Predict Observe Explain di kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Pomalaa pada materi stoikiometri.

Abstract

This research is intended to synthesize Sn-ZIF-8 with an environmentally friendly hydrothermal method by exploring the potential of the utilization of aqueous solvents as the main solvent. Sn-ZIF-8 material has been successfully synthesized with water solvent at room temperature and has been characterized using XRD, FTIR, and SEM instrumentation to determine the extent of synthesis success. In this study, the use of Sn doping varied from 5, 10, and 15%, while MeIM, NH4OH, and water precursors were kept constant. Instrumentation observations showed the XRD patterns of Sn-ZIF-8 compounds for percentages of 5, 10, and 15% of Sn2+ displayed specific peaks of ZIF-8 at 2 = 7.24, 10.28, 12.62, 16.34, and 17.92. Meanwhile, the FTIR spectra of all synthesized solids presented the same functional group absorption peaks as the simulated ZIF-8 solids. SEM observation revealed a regular crystal shape of Sn-ZIF-8 without any contaminant on its surface. The characterization results show no change in the basic structure and the addition of other structures from ZIF-8. The implication of this finding can be utilized as a reference source for synthesizing inorganic materials using eco-friendly stages without affecting the synthesized product

Abstract

Desa Wonualaku merupakan Desa baru yang memiliki wilayah cukup luas sehingga perumahan warga masih banyak yang memiliki lahan kosong yang tidak dimanfaatkan. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan lahan perumahan guna mendukung kesehatan mandiri melalui budidaya tanaman obat herbal. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat adalah keterbatasan akses terhadap obat-obatan kimia, serta minimnya pengetahuan tentang manfaat dan cara budidaya tanaman obat herbal. Program ini melibatkan beberapa warga Desa. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi survey lahan, persiapan lahan, pembuatan pagar dan plakat nama tanaman, serta penanaman. Selain itu, peserta diajarkan teknik perawatan dan pemanfaatan hasil panen sebagai obat alami untuk menjaga kesehatan keluarga. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan lahan perumahan untuk budidaya tanaman obat herbal efektif dalam meningkatkan kemandirian masyarakat dalam menjaga kesehatan. Program ini juga memberikan manfaat jangka panjang dengan mengoptimalkan lahan yang sebelumnya tidak produktif, sekaligus mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap obat-obatan kimia. Hasil ini mengindikasikan potensi besar dalam pengembangan kesehatan mandiri berbasis herbal di lingkungan perumahan
