Abstract

This study aims to describe the percentage of knowledge dimensions and cognitive levels on school exam questions for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 Science subjects at SDN 04 Pendopo District. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research. The research subject is in the form of school exam questions for science subjects. The object of research is the percentage of knowledge dimensions and cognitive level of the questions. The research instrument was in the form of a sheet of knowledge dimension analysis and cognitive levels. The results show that: The highest percentage of knowledge dimensions on US IPA 2019/2020 questions are factual dimensions of 33 questions (82.50%), conceptual dimensions of 7 questions (17.50%), and procedural and metacognitive dimensions of 0% . The highest percentage of dimensions in the US IPA 2020/2021 questions is the factual dimension of 32 questions (80.00%), the conceptual dimension is 8 questions (20.00%) and the procedural and metacognitive dimensions are 0%. Percentage of cognitive level of US IPA 2019/2020 items for the highest cognitive level, namely applying (C3) as many as 16 questions (40%), understanding (C2) as many as 13 questions (32.50%), analyzing (C4) as many as 11 questions ( 27.50%), and remembering (C1), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6) did not appear. Percentage of cognitive level of US IPA items in 2020/2021 for the highest cognitive level, namely analyzing (C4) as many as 19 questions (47.50%), applying (C3) as many as 12 questions (30.00%), understanding (C2) as many as 8 questions (20.00%), evaluates (C5) as much as 1 question (2.50%). Thus, it can be concluded that the quality of the school exam questions for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 school year subjects in SDN 04 Pendopo District is viewed from the dimensions of knowledge and cognitive level of the questions.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a STEAM-based LKPD. The type of research used is research and development (Research & Development) by modifying the Sugiyono model adopting 6 steps, namely potential problems, gathering planning information, product design, design validation, product revision, product testing. The research data were obtained through questionnaires, interview guidelines, validation sheets, and student response questionnaires. Aspects that are validated include the feasibility of the material, language, presentation and graphics. There are 6 validators (raters) involved in validating consisting of experts and practitioners. Data on student responses to LKPD were obtained from the responses of 15 grade VI students at SDN 9 Pendopo. Based on the results of research and development, it was concluded that the STEAM-based LKPD was very suitable for use in learning science content for class VI SDN 9 Pendopo students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the nature of science as a product and cognitive level of USBN in elementary science subjects. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research. The subject of the study was USBN questions for science subjects at the Empat Lawang Regency Elementary School. The object of this research is the proportion of the nature of science as a product and level of items. The research instrument is a document in the form of a sheet of the results of the analysis of the nature of science and cognitive level. The percentage of science as a product and cognitive level were analyzed and calculated according to the agreement of the raters. The results of the study show that: (1) The percentage of the nature of science as a product of the 2018/2019 USBN questions: facts 26 questions (65%), the concept opened by 14 questions (35%), and there are no questions on principle indicators, laws, and theory . The percentage of the nature of science as a product of the USBN Science Subject matter for 2019/2020: facts found 34 questions (85%), the concept opened with 6 questions (15%), and there were no questions for principle, law, and theory indicators. Percentage level of knowledge about 2018/2019: understanding (C2) 4 questions (10.00%), applying (C3) and analyzing (C4) have the same number of 14 questions (35.00%), (3) discovery (C5 ) 8 questions (20,000%); and (4) there is no question of remembering, remembering (C1) and creating (C6). Percentage of cognitive level about USBN Year 2019/2020: understanding (C2) 6 questions (15.00%), applying (C3) 16 (40.00%), analyzing (C4) 16 questions (40.00%), developing ( C5) 2 questions (5.00%); and (5) there are no questions included in the ranks of remembering (C1) and creating (C6). Thus, it can be said that the quality of the USBN questions for the science subjects of the Empat Lawang Elementary School in the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 academic years is quite good from the percentage of science as a product and improvement

Abstract

This study aims to develop LKPD based on scientific literacy. The type of research used is research and development (R & D) modifying by the Sugiyono model adopting 6 steps, namely analysis, planning, design, validation, revision, and testing. The research data were obtained through questionnaires, interview guidelines, validation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The validated aspects include the feasibility of the material, language, presentation and graphics involving 6 validators consisting of experts and practitioners. Validation data were analyzed using the Aiken'V formula and reliability. Data on student responses to LKPD were obtained from the responses of 15 students in class VI. The data is in the form of 'yes' 'no' data which is analyzed by Guttman's theory. Based on the results of research and development, it is concluded that scientific literacy-based worksheets are very suitable to be used in learning Tema 9 Menjelajah Angkasa Luar for class VI SDN 6 Ulu Musi, Kabupaten Empat Lawang.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of Concept Mapping applied to the Problem Based Learning model of critical thinking skills of students of science class V SD Bengkulu City. This research is a quantitative research. The type of research used is quasi experimental research with the design of The Matching-Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population in this study is all students of grade V SD Bengkulu City. The sampling technique used Two Stage Random Sampling so as to obtain the class VA SDN 41 Bengkulu City as the experimental class and class VB SDN 82 Bengkulu City as the control class. The research instrument is a critical thinking skill test which is about essay given through pretest and posttest. Based on the hypothesis test using t-test of two independent samples, obtained tcount (2.95) > ttable (1.67) at 5% significant level, it can be concluded that there is influence of Concept Mapping usage applied in Problem Based Learning model to ability critical thinking students of science class V SD Bengkulu City.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using of the Learning Cycle 5E model on students critical thinking skills of class V in  SDN Bengkulu City. This type of research is quantitative, using the experimental method, with the design of The  Matching Only  Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Subjects in  this study were the fifth graders of SDN 51 Kota Bengkulu (control class)  and fifth grade students of SDN 60 Kota Bengkulu (experimental class) with using purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used is essay test sheet. The results of the t-gain test calculation at are thitung  equal to 4,16 bigger than equal to ttabel 2,01 which means that there is a significant influence on the use of the  Learning  Cycle  5E  model  on  students'  critical  thinking  skills.  The conclusion in this study is that there is an effect of the use of the 5E Learning Cycle model on Students' Critical Thinking Ability of class V Natural Sciences in SDN kota Bengkulu.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning model assisted by audio-visual media on students' cognitive learning outcomes in science subjects of grade IV Elementary School in Cluster 12 Bengkulu City. This type of research is quantitative research. The research method used is quasi-experimental design. With the design type "the matching only pretest-posttest control group design". The population in this study was Elementary School of Cluster 12 Bengkulu City. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling technique. The samples in this study were class IV SDN 81 Bengkulu City as the experimental class and class IV SDN 99 Bengkulu City as the control class. The research instruments used were pretest and posttest of science cognitive learning outcomes given to experimental and control groups. The data analysis method in this study is quantitative analysis using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, namely the t-test. From the results of the t-test calculation of the posttest value of students' science cognitive learning outcomes, namely tcount = 8.87 is greater than the ttable value = 1.67. It shows that there is a significant difference between the posttest scores of the experimental and control classes. Based on the results of the difference in the posttest scores of students' cognitive learning outcomes, there is a significant effect with a scale of 5% on the use of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by audio-visual media on students' cognitive learning outcomes in science subjects of grade IV Elementary School in Cluster 12 Bengkulu City.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to test the ethanol extract of Hongje fruit (Etlingera hemisphaerica) in regulating High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) levels in mice (Mus musculus). HDL and LDL levels were measured using four treatment groups (one control, two doses of  EEBE, and one dose of simvastatin), with each group with five M. musculus replicates whose pathological conditions were induced by a high-fat diet for 10 days. The extract given consisted of two doses of EEBE, namely (0.26 and 0.39) mg/dl Body Weight (BW) and a comparison dose (simvastatin 0.52 mg/dL BW). Data collection was carried out over a period of 13 days before and after EEBE grant. Based on the BNT test, the average HDL treatment level in the treatment group increased at the EEBE dose (0.39mg/g BW), namely before treatment the HDL level was 39.3 mg/dL and after treatment the HDL level was 41.8mg/dL by 6. 20%. Meanwhile, LDL in the treatment group experienced a decrease at the EEBE dose (0.39 mg/g BW), namely before treatment it was 145.2 mg/dL and after treatment it became 140.8 mg/dL by -3.30%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ethanol content from banana stem and corn cob residues with variations in treatment and fermentation time using a starter culture to accelerate the fermentation process. The method used was an experimental design with treatment variations and fermentation times of 9, 12, and 15 days. Quantitative data were analyzed by measuring the average ethanol content and volume produced for each treatment and fermentation time, then presented in graphical form. The results showed that the highest ethanol content was obtained in treatment A (100% yeast) with 20% ethanol after 15 days of fermentation. In conclusion, the longer the fermentation time, the higher the ethanol content; however, the effect of fermentation time was not always consistent because ethanol content is influenced by the materials used, fermentation duration, and the condition of microorganisms during the fermentation process. Abstract

This study aimed to enhance biology students’ critical thinking skills through the development of STEM-based instructional materials for the Invertebrate Zoology course. Employing a design and development research approach using the ADDIE model, the study involved needs analysis, module development, expert validation, practicality testing, and effectiveness evaluation. The materials integrated STEM elements including ecological measurement tools, technological media, specimen preparation, and data analysis. Validation by experts yielded a 98% score, indicating high validity. Practicality tests showed increasing student satisfaction across individual (83.47%), small group (85.66%), and full-class trials (94.30%). The effectiveness was assessed using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test revealed a statistically significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills (p = 0.000). Posttest results showed that 66.67% of students reached the “very good” category and 33.33% were in the “good” category, with a mean score of 84%. Among Ennis' critical thinking indicators, “defining terms” had the highest score (95.24%), while “generalizing from evidence” scored the lowest (72.38%). These findings indicate that STEM-integrated teaching materials can effectively foster students’ higher-order thinking in biology education.
