Abstract

The purpose of this study is to implement the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) model in Arabic language lessons, namely to help students relate learning materials to real life, so that students can easily apply the material taught in their daily lives, and learning using videos makes students more enthusiastic and enthusiastic in participating in learning, because learning is not monotonous so that students do not get bored quickly during learning and learning becomes more effective. The method used in this study was mixed methods involving the collection of quantitative and qualitative data to obtain a more complete picture of the effectiveness of the CTL model with videos in improving students' motivation and Arabic language skills. The application of the CTL model with videos has been proven to significantly increase students' learning motivation and their Arabic language skills according to the results of the study. In addition, the CTL model also helps students develop their social skills through group learning and materials that relate to real life. This study concludes that the CTL learning model using videos is an alternative method that increases the effectiveness of the learning process. In this study, the use of media in the form of videos makes students more involved in the learning process, making learning more interesting and interactive. In addition, the CTL model with videos makes their thinking skills more critical and creative through discussion and group work.

Abstract

In catfish farming, uniform seed size is crucial for ensuring balanced growth and minimizing competition for feed. Generally, size sorting is performed manually through visual observation and net separation, which is labor-intensive, time-consuming, and often causes stress or injury to fish. To address these limitations, this study aimed to develop and evaluate a real-time, low-cost automatic sorting system for live catfish seeds. The proposed system utilizes photodiode sensors and an Arduino-based microcontroller to detect variations in fish body length by interrupting a laser beam. Four photodiodes were arranged at specific distances to classify fish seeds into four size categories (<7 cm, 7–8 cm, 9–10 cm, and 11–12 cm). After classification, the system automatically directed each seed into the corresponding container. The results showed that the prototype successfully classified and sorted catfish seeds with an overall accuracy of 67.5%. In contrast, tests with PVC pipes under controlled conditions achieved 100% accuracy. These findings highlight the novelty of integrating size detection and direct sorting for live fish seeds, a feature not previously reported in the literature. Beyond its current limitations, this system provides a methodological framework for sensor-based aquaculture automation, offering potential for further improvements in accuracy, robustness, and application to other aquaculture species.

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive Shorof learning materials based on the Amtsilatu Tasrifiyah textbook using Canva to enhance students’ motivation and understanding of tashrif patterns. The study was conducted at SMP IT Terpadu Robbani Palembang, where Shorof learning still relies heavily on conventional lecture and memorization methods, resulting in low student engagement and difficulties in understanding word patterns (wazan). This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data were collected through classroom observations, teacher interviews, student questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test assessments. The results indicate that the development of Canva-based interactive Shorof materials effectively improved students’ learning outcomes and engagement. Students’ average scores increased from 62.47 in the pre-test to 81.53 in the post-test, with N-Gain categorized as medium–high, indicating significant improvement in understanding tashrif patterns. Student responses also showed high engagement (90.52%). The interactive features, including visual slides, animations, audio, and navigation buttons, facilitated memorization, deepened understanding of wazan relationships, and reduced cognitive load from traditional memorization methods. Interactive and engaging learning experiences made Shorof learning more meaningful and enjoyable.

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini menerapkan teknologi pirolisis berbasis Internet of Things (IoT) untuk mengonversi sampah plastik menjadi bahan bakar alternatif melalui pendekatan participatory community-based implementation.

Abstract

The abundance of rice straw biomass waste in Desa Sidorejo, Kabupaten Bojonegoro, has not been managed optimally and can cause environmental problems. On the other hand, the use of plastic polybags in seedling cultivation contributes to the accumulation of non-biodegradable plastic waste. The objective of this community service project is to introduce an innovation in the production of biopots from nonwoven geotextile sheets made from rice straw fibers. The straw is bonded using simple roll-press technology to create geotextile, and the final product can be used as a substitute for plastic polybags. The activity partners were the “Karya Tani” farmer group, consisting of 20 participants. The implementation methods included outreach, training, and evaluation. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests, as well as field observations over a three-month period. Evaluation results showed a significant increase (100%) in knowledge and skills. Meanwhile, regarding attitude, 76% of participants engaged in bio-pot production to utilize their free time. The implications of this activity include a reduction in agricultural waste and dependence on plastic in Sidorejo Village, while also opening opportunities for the development of creative business units based on a circular economy for the local farmers’ group.

Abstract

Plastic mulch is widely used in agriculture to improve crop productivity by regulating soil temperature, retaining moisture, and suppressing weed growth. However, its degradation produces microplastics that can accumulate in the soil, disrupt microbial communities, and potentially enter the food chain. This study examines microplastic contamination in agricultural soils under different climatic conditions: Bogor (humid) and Lombok (hot and dry). Various analytical techniques were employed to characterize material degradation, including FTIR spectroscopy, SEM, UV-Vis, and thermal conductivity measurements. The results show that differences in climate and environmental factors such as high temperature, UV exposure, and microbial activity can accelerate mulch degradation, resulting in higher microplastic concentrations in Lombok (455 ± 57.74 particles kg-1) compared to Bogor (265 ± 43.59 particles kg-1). FTIR analysis confirmed the presence of oxidation-derived functional groups (C=O, O-H), thermal analysis indicated a decrease in the material's thermal conductivity, UV-Vis revealed increased polymer chain scission, and SEM showed significant surface degradation. These findings highlight the environmental risks of plastic mulch use and underscore the importance of adopting more sustainable alternatives to reduce microplastic pollution in agricultural soils.
